Jonathan Gannon a finalist for Texans coaching job along with Josh McCown, Brian Flores

Jonathan #Gannon is said to be a finalist for #Texans HC job along with Josh #McCown, Brian #Flores

While the NFL world descends upon Mobile, Alabama (Senior Bowl) and Los Angeles (Super Bowl), the Texans are among a handful of teams still looking to fill their head coaching vacancies.

Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network is reporting that Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator, Jonathan Gannon is a finalist for the Houston Job along with Josh McCown and former Dolphins coach, Brian Flores.

Flores made headlines this week after news broke that he is suing the NFL and its teams for discriminatory hiring practices.

McCown was reportedly offered the job of associate head coach at the end of the 2020 season and he could immediately assume that role as well as the offensive coordinator if Gannon is able to land the job.

Gannon, 39, was with Nick Sirianni on the Colts staff for three years, and prior to joining the Colts, Gannon spent time with the Vikings, Titans, and Falcons.

Houston is likely Gannon’s best shot for a head coaching job in the 2022 coaching cycle, but he will likely be a hot name in 2023.

Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon appears to be the leading candidate for Texans’ head coaching job

#Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon has impressed during his coaching interviews and some say he’s the leading candidate to land the #Houston #Texans job opening

The Eagles could be in the market for a new defensive coordinator, and it has nothing to do with anyone being fired or replaced.

According to Dan Graziano of ESPN.com, Gannon has quietly emerged as the front-runner for the Texans opening.

One of the hottest names out there is that of Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, who I’m told made a very strong impression in his interview with the Texans and is considered by some in that building to be the current front-runner for the job. A head-coach job in this cycle would represent a rapid rise for Gannon, who was the Colts’ defensive backs coach two years ago and is coming off his first season as a coordinator.

Gannon has done a good job of connecting with his players, and even during some early struggles regarding the Eagles’ defensive schemes, the defensive coordinator still had his personnel playing hard.

Players credit Gannon for his ability to thoroughly explain his decisions and those solid communication skills have Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator set to be one and done for all the right reasons.
