Former Tennessee defensive lineman transfers to play for Butch Jones

Jones served in an off-field role at Alabama from 2018-20, working closely with head coach Nick Saban.

Prior to arriving at Alabama, Jones served as head coach at Tennessee. He compiled a 34-27 record from 2013-17 and was 3-0 in bowl games with the Vols.

Former Tennessee defensive lineman John Mincey is set to play for Jones at Arkansas State.

Mincey appeared in 24 games for the Vols, totaling 18 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss and one sack.

The 6-foot-3, 276-pound Mincey is from Clinch County High School in Homerville, Georgia.

A Tennessee defensive lineman has entered the NCAA transfer portal on Friday.

A Tennessee defensive lineman has entered the NCAA transfer portal on Friday.

Junior defensive lineman John Mincey announced he is entering the NCAA transfer portal.

“After a lot of consideration, I will be entering my name in the NCAA transfer portal,” Mincey said of his intentions on Twitter.

The 6-foot-3, 276-pound Mincey is from Clinch County High School in Homerville, Georgia.
