Deiveson Figueiredo takes umbrage with Joe Rogan questioning status as UFC flyweight champ

UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo might have a bone to pick with Joe Rogan.

DALLAS – UFC flyweight champion [autotag]Deiveson Figueiredo[/autotag] might have a bone to pick with [autotag]Joe Rogan[/autotag].

During the UFC 277 broadcast on Saturday, Rogan, who called the fights cageside, discredited Figueiredo as the legit 125-pound champion in anticipation of the night’s interim title fight between Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France.

“This is the real world title fight,” Rogan said. “I don’t think we’re ever going to see DF down at 125 again, and I think those two gentlemen, there’s a real good argument that Moreno won that last fight, as well. So that is, in my opinion, that’s the world title fight right there.”

Prior to the co-main event, Figueiredo was informed of Rogan’s words during a session with reporters backstage at American Airlines Center. He squinted and smiled before responding.

“I’m gonna have to step into the octagon, go into the arena and look for Joe Rogan’s crystal ball,” Figueiredo said.

“I want to show it to him. Maybe it could be a little friendly wager. I’m gonna make weight, and I’m gonna show it to him. I’m gonna just basically tell him what’s up, what’s really going to happen.”

It’s unclear if Figueiredo got the chance to address Rogan directly.

Moreno went on to defeat Kara-France by third-round TKO when a hard body kick put the finish in motion. Afterward, Figueiredo entered the cage to confront Moreno, and the two men agreed to fight for a fourth time in December.

Whether it will happen on that timeline remains to be seen as Figueiredo recovers from a hand injury.

“At home, it was hurting a little bit. I have to tell you,” Figueiredo said. “I was doing a lot of exercises at home for the hand, just kind of doing stuff and really working the hand as much as possible. I think I’m gonna be ready to go. And believe me, I do believe that I have a lot to give in the octagon still for you guys.”

Figueiredo is certain he’s coming back to 125 pounds, even if Rogan has his doubts.

Joe Rogan wishes Cain Velasquez hadn’t shot at accused molester, ‘beat him to death’ instead

Comedian and UFC commentator Joe Rogan wishes Cain Velasquez used a different method to resolve conflict with accused molester.

[autotag]Joe Rogan[/autotag] has weighed in on [autotag]Cain Velasquez[/autotag]’s arrest, wishing the former UFC heavyweight champion used his hands instead of a weapon.

On a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, the comedian and UFC commentator discussed Velasquez’s alleged actions with former UFC middleweight champion [autotag]Michael Bisping[/autotag].

Velasquez was arrested for allegedly shooting at a man accused of repeatedly molesting a close relative “100 times,” according to reports and court documents. The 39-year-old is facing a number of charges including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Considering the potential motive of Velasquez’s actions, Rogan and Bisping agreed the former heavyweight champion was justified in his actions.

“It’s beyond sick,” Bisping said. “That guy deserves everything what Cain did. Well, Cain actually got his father, didn’t he? Not the guy himself, sadly.”

According to reports, Velasquez was chasing Harry Goularte and fired a gun several times at a truck carrying him, his mother, and stepfather. The stepfather was driving the vehicle and was the only person struck with a bullet during the incident.

“I mean, my only wish is that he did it with his hands,” Rogan said. “My only wish is that he just ran the car off the road, pulled that guy out of the f*cking car, and beat him to death. F*ck you.”

“And even that would have been too good for him,” Bisping added.

Velasquez is currently in custody at the Santa Clara County main jail where he awaits arraignment on Monday, when the judge could decide to set bail. If convicted of attempted murder, he faces a minimum of 20 years to life in prison, including additional time if found guilty of other charges.

According to a police report, Goularte, 43, was recently charged with molesting a “close relative” of Velaquez and was out on bail.

“That is a sickness,” Rogan said. “There’s like a certain sickness that people have, that human beings have, as sicknesses of the mind. But that one, the molesting a f*cking baby? … The molesting children is the sickest of all of those sicknesses.”

Dana White after UFC 271: ‘Joe Rogan could’ve worked tonight’

Chants of “Free Joe Rogan” flooded the Toyota Center in Houston during UFC 271.

HOUSTON – The absence of fan-favorite commentator [autotag]Joe Rogan[/autotag] loomed large over UFC 271, but company president [autotag]Dana White[/autotag] says his nonattendance was of his own accord.

At a news conference after the event, White said reports of Rogan having a scheduling conflict are untrue and that Rogan could’ve worked the event, had he wanted to.

“There was no conflict of schedule,” White told MMA Junkie. “Joe Rogan didn’t work tonight. Joe Rogan could’ve worked tonight. … Yeah, Joe Rogan, I don’t know what Joe Rogan had to do. You guys will have to ask Joe Rogan, but there was no ‘Joe couldn’t work,’ or anything like that. I know that came out. That’s total bullsh*t.”

Throughout the event, chants of “Free Joe Rogan” filled the Toyota Center. Cage-side, commentators Jon Anik, Michael Bisping, and Daniel Cormier called the action instead of the comedian and podcast host.

Rogan typically only calls domestic pay-per-view events for the promotion. The next UFC pay-per-view event in the United States takes place on March 5 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“Whenever he’s going to work again, he’ll be working, yeah,” White said, of Rogan’s future.

Rogan encountered multiple controversies in recent weeks. When musical artists Neil Young and Joni Mitchell removed their music from Spotify in protest, past conversations Rogan had with guests about COVID-19 topics were put under the spotlight. Days later, a resurfaced montage video of Rogan’s past use of the “N-word.”

The former triggered an apology out of Rogan, who said while the video took his quotes out of context, he will not use that word going forward. He also apologized for a joke that compared Black people to the “Planet of the Apes” movie.

Jake Paul rips ESPN, Disney’s decision to ‘pull Joe Rogan’ from UFC 271 broadcast but ‘stand behind Dana White’

Add Jake Paul to the list of popular figures supporting Joe Rogan – at Dana White’s expense, of course.

Add [autotag]Jake Paul[/autotag] to the list of popular figures supporting [autotag]Joe Rogan[/autotag] – at the expense of UFC president Dana White, of course.

In wake of the announcement that Rogan won’t call Saturday’s UFC 271 event, Paul has decided to chime in. Although the reason behind Rogan’s withdrawal was revealed to be a “scheduling conflict,” Paul apparently believes that UFC broadcast partner Disney/ESPN decided to remove Rogan amid his multiple controversies.

“So ESPN and Disney pull Joe Rogan from the UFC broadcast but stand behind Dana White who calls reporters douche bags, says a female fighter looks like a male fighter in dress and heels, and claims brain damage is part of the gig? You pulled the wrong guy Mr. Chapek.”

[lawrence-related id=2518698,2515764,2500631]

Some prominent music artists, including Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, asked Spotify to remove their music from the streaming platform, which also has exclusive rights to “The Joe Rogan Experience,” after accusing Rogan’s podcast of spreading COVID-19 vaccine misinformation. Also, sinnger India Arie shared a recent video of Rogan using the N-word repeatedly through the years while on the air, which went viral, prompting the podcast host to issue an apology.

It’s no secret how Paul feels about White. The YouTube star-turned professional boxer is adamant that his intention is to create a fighter’s union and is only trying to help the athletes get paid more. Paul went as far as creating a diss track targeting White, and even sought out the help of former UFC champion and current Bellator champ Cris Cyborg to deliver his message.

Joe Rogan: ‘My kids are allowed to hit me as hard as they can’

When it comes to his two daughters, UFC commentator Joe Rogan says he’s taking an active role in their knowledge of self-defense.

As a lifelong practitioner of martial arts, longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan believes in the value of training to defend yourself. When it comes to his three daughters, Rogan says he’s taking an active role in their knowledge of self-defense.

“My kids are allowed to hit me as hard as they can,” Rogan told Cigar Aficionado. “I teach them — they’re taking martial arts classes — but I teach them. … It hurts.”

Prior to his time with the UFC, which began in 1997, Rogan was a taekwando champion. His passion for martial arts was a big reason he wanted to work with the fledgling promotion in its early days. But Rogan didn’t start his own martial arts journey due to a sporting interest. Instead, he says it was simply to avoid being bullied as a child.

“I went from being a kid who was terrified of conflict to being a martial arts champion,” Rogan said. “The reason why I became a martial arts champion is I was being picked on all the time. I was like, I do not like this. So I am going to become what I am terrified of.”

Now Rogan is passing on that same belief to his children in hopes that they will always know “what it’s like to struggle with a person.”

Or as Rogan has previously stated, “You want to be the nice kid who can fight so everybody leaves you alone.”

“Martial arts develops your human potential, when you get through something really, really difficult” Rogan said. “There is nothing more difficult, outside of war, than agreeing to step into a closed area with another guy who’s a f*cking trained killer.”

Rogan is featured on the cover of October’s Cigar Aficionado, which is currently on newsstands.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan contracts COVID-19, says he ‘really only had one bad day’

The famous UFC commentator, comedian and podcast host said he took a long list of meds he claims helped him overcome COVID-19.

Joe Rogan has been forced to postpone an upcoming comedy show after revealing that he tested positive for COVID-19.

Rogan, the famous podcast host, comedian and UFC commentator, announced on Wednesday that he recently tested for coronavirus after coming down with symptoms following a recent work trip.

According to Rogan, he isolated from his family after feeling “very weary,” then subsequently tested positive. A few days later, though, he said he felt better after taking a long list of what he claims were effective medicines.

“I got back from the road Saturday night feeling very weary,” Rogan said in an Instagram video. “I had a headache, and I just felt just run down. Just to be cautious, I separated from family, slept in a different part of the house and throughout the night I got fevers and sweats and I knew what was going on. I got up in the morning, got tested, and it turns out I got COVID. So we immediately threw the kitchen sink at it: all kinds of meds. Monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, Z-pack, prednisone – everything. I also got an NAD drip and a vitamin drip, and I did that three days in a row, and here we are on Wednesday, and I feel great.

“I really only had one bad day. Sunday sucked. Monday was better. Tuesday felt better than Monday, and today I feel good. I feel pretty f*cking good. That’s the good news. The bad news is we have to move the Friday show in Nashville. It’s going to move to Sunday, Oct. 24. That’ll be the new Nashville date. Apologies to everyone. Obviously not something I can control. It is what it is. Crazy times we’re living in, but a wonderful, heartfelt thank you to modern medicine for pulling us out so quickly and easily. My love to all of you. Thank you.”

Rogan, 54, did not reveal if his COVID-19 was the Delta variant. He also has not publicly disclosed whether he’s vaccinated. Earlier this year, Rogan said he doesn’t feel it’s necessary for young or healthy people to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

“I’m not an anti-vaxx person,” Rogan has said prior. “In fact, I said I believe they’re safe, and I encourage many people to take them. My parents were vaccinated.”

Rogan also recently said he would offer refunds to his comedy shows for unvaccinated customers who are no longer allowed entry because of local mandates.

A longtime UFC commentator, Rogan hasn’t called an event since UFC 264 in July, where Conor McGregor suffered a first-round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in the main event. Rogan was caught up in the post-fight controversy for interviewing McGregor in the octagon while his leg was broken.

UFC fans loved Joe Rogan’s hilarious reactions to the two big KOs at UFC 261

Joe Rogan was all of us last night.

UFC 261 had all the makings of being a great night of fights and then it delivered – and maybe over delivered – with an absolutely electric event in front of a full crowd in Jacksonville, Fla.

The last two fights of the nights had some insane knockouts. First, Rose Namajunas caught Weili Zhang with a head kick in the first round to win the strawweight belt.

Then in the main event Kamaru Usman defended his welterweight belt with a beautiful knockout of Jorge Masvidal with an overhand right that should be replayed for years to come.

Those knockouts led to some great reactions from Joe Rogan, Daniel Cormier, and Jon Anik who called the fights.

Check out this one from the Namajunas KO:

And this one from Usman’s KO:

Too good.

Man, what a night of fights.

Twitter loved those reactions:

Manny Pacquiao would dominate Conor McGregor: Joe Rogan

UFC commentator Joe Rogan said that Manny Pacquiao would dominate Conor McGregor in a boxing match.

Joe Rogan stated the obvious on his podcast.

The UFC commentator said that MMA star Conor McGregor would not fare well in a boxing match against eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao even though the Filipino icon turned 42 on Dec. 17.

The two have expressed an interest in fighting one another but it’s not about competition. It’s about money, just as McGregor’s 2017 mismatch against Floyd Mayweather was.

“You’re talking about one of the greatest boxers of all time against a guy with one professional boxing match,” Rogan said.

Rogan was reminded by podcast guest Tony Hinchcliffe that McGregor had some early success against Mayweather before he was stopped in the 10th round. The host corrected Hinchcliffe.

“Let me tell you something,” Rogan said. “The reason it was close is because Mayweather let [McGregor] blow his wad. … Mayweather had to figure out Conor’s timing.

“Conor is not a professional boxer. Because he’s not a professional boxer, he’s not as efficient, and he’s going to get tired easier. [Mayweather’s] style is take the minimum amount of damage, find your openings and then establish your game and dominate.

“Conor is a freak. He’s an explosive guy. He’s so fast, and there’s no remedy for that, other than getting [him] tired. What Mayweather was doing was boxing with him, but preserving [energy].

“[He was] being safe, realized that Conor can punch, but drag him into deep water. That’s what a guy like Mayweather will do.”

And it’s what a guy like Pacquiao would do.
