Former super middleweight contender J’Leon Love was arrested on suspicion of simple battery domestic violence – a misdemeanor – in the early morning hours of June 5 at Seminole Hardrock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., according to the Seminole Police Department.
The hotel is on the Seminole Tribe of Florida reservation.
A police spokesperson didn’t know the relationship between Love and the alleged victim, who is a woman.
Love, 33, was booked at Broward County Jail. A $1,500 bond was posted the following day for his release.
A hearing was held on the day he was arrested in The Seventeenth Judicial Circuit court, at which a judge determined there was probable cause to pursue charges against Love. No trial date has been set.
Love, who lives in Las Vegas, worked the corner of Jake Paul when the YouTuber knocked out Ben Askren in April. Paul’s brother, Logan Paul, fought Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition at nearby Hard Rock Stadium in Miami the day after Love was arrested.
Love and Jake Paul reportedly had a backstage altercation with Tyron Woodley the night of the Askren fight. Jake Paul is scheduled to fight Woodley on Aug. 1.
Love (24-3-1, 13 KOs) last fought in March 2019, when he was knocked out in two rounds by David Benavidez at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Errol Spence Jr. outpointed Mikey Garcia in the main event on that card.
