UFC 311 social media reactions: Jiri Prochazka’s chaotic finish of Jamahal Hill

The MMA community reacted to Jiri Prochazka’s victory over Jamahal Hill at UFC 311.

[autotag]Jiri Prochazka[/autotag] got the crucial rebound performance he needed Saturday at UFC 311 against fellow former champion [autotag]Jamahal Hill[/autotag].

After suffering a second loss to light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira in July, Prochazka (31-6-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) needed to get his hand raised. He got the job done with a TKO victory over Hill (13-2 MMA, 6-3 UFC) in the featured bout at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif.

Check below for the top X (formerly Twitter) reactions to Prochazka beating Hill at UFC 311.

Jamahal Hill vs. Jiri Prochazka prediction, pick, start time for UFC 311

Former light heavyweight champs clash on the UFC 311 main card. Will Jamahal Hill find a way to finish Jiri Prochazka?

[autotag]Jamahal Hill[/autotag] and [autotag]Jiri Prochazka[/autotag] meet Saturday on the UFC 311 main card at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.

Last event: 3-3
UFC main cards, 2024: 3-3

Jamahal Hill vs. Jiri Prochazka UFC 311 preview

Hill (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) returns to action for the first time since attempting to reclaim the title he vacated due to a ruptured Achilles. At UFC 300, Hill was finished by Alex Pereira in the first round, ending a four-fight winning streak. Prior to the loss and the injury, Hill defeated Glover Teixeira at UFC 283 to win the vacant light heavyweight title. … Coincidentally, Prochazka (30-5-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) also vacated his light heavyweight title due to injury and then returned suffered a loss to Pereira in his return. Following the setback at UFC 295, Prochazka stopped Alexandar Rakic at UFC 300, but then lost in his most recent outing, a rematch against Pereira at UFC 303.

Jamahal Hill vs. Jiri Prochazka UFC 311 expert pick, prediction

Filling out the main card is a solid light heavyweight matchup between Hill and Prochazka.

Not only is this a fight that deserves to be on the main card based on name value, but this is also a battle that promises action from a stylistic perspective.

Prochazka, who officially stands at 1-2 against UFC-level southpaws, can turn any encounter into a psychotic whirlwind of action.

If Prochazka can swarm Hill toward the fence, then he could easily close the show on his American counterpart. But as shown in the clip above, I can’t ignore the fact that left-sided strikes and competent counter strikers have traditionally provided a lot of problems for Prochazka.

For that reason, I’ll officially take Hill to win by knockout in Round 1.

Jamahal Hill vs. Jiri Prochazka UFC 311 odds

Despite the oddsmakers opening the Czech fighter as the favorite, public money has flipped the line in the American’s favor, listing Hill -140 and Prochazka +112 via FanDuel.

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC 311 odds between Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill, with MMA picks and predictions.

In a 3-round light heavyweight bout on the main card, Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill meet at UFC 311 Saturday at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s UFC odds around the UFC 311: Prochazka vs. Hill odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The prelims begin at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN+, while the main card begins at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+ pay-per-view with simulcasts on ESPNews at 8 p.m. ET.

Records: Prochazka (30-5-1) | Hill (12-2-0)

Prochazka lost his strap at UFC 303 after a second-round KO/TKO loss at UFC 303 against Alex Pereira. Win or lose, it’s usually exciting whenever Prochazka is in action. In his 6 UFC fights, he has had 5 KO/TKO results in Round 2, winning 3 of those bouts, while losing to Pereira in the others. He also submitted Glover Teixeira in Round 5 at UFC 275 to secure a title.

Hill suffered a Round 1 KO/TKO to Pereira at UFC 300, halting a 4-game win streak. His last victory was a unanimous-decision win at UFC 283 against Teixeira. Like Prochazka, he hasn’t been involved in fights going the distance, posting 6 KO/TKO results in 6 of the past 7 fights, with just the Teixeira fight going the distance. He is 4-2 in those 6 KO/TKO fights.

Prochazka has a 1-inch reach advantage, while the southpaw Hill has a 7.18 significant strikes landed per minute to 5.38 for Prochazka. The latter is a little more accurate at 58.08%, to 56.75% for Hill.

UFC 311: Prochazka vs. Hill picks and predictions

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

Both of these fighters will be glad they’re not facing Pereira. That’s the guy who has given each fighter the most trouble.

HILL (-140) is a solid play as the moderate favorite against Prochazka (+115). He had 4 straight victories in the past 5 fights, losing his light heavyweight belt to Pereira last time out. Both fighters are looking to position themselves for a run at the title again. As long as the southpaw doesn’t get taken down to the canvas, where Prochazka does a good job, Hill is a strong play.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 1.5 ROUNDS (-165) is a strong play. While Hill hasn’t been taken out of Round 1 very often, he has gone to Round 4 in 2 of his past 3 outings. As the competition has gotten tougher, Hill’s fights have ended up going longer.

As far as Prochazka is concerned, while he has never ended up going the distance in 6 fights at the UFC level, he also has ended up going past the halfway mark in Round 2 in 4 of his previous 5 outings.

While Over 1.5 Rounds is a solid play, No (-250): Will the fight go the distance? is way too much risk for not nearly enough reward.

UFC 311: Michael Bisping guarantees big knockout in Jamahal Hill vs. Jiri Prochazka fight

Michael Bisping can’t see anything but a brutal ending to Jamahal Hill vs. Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311.

[autotag]Michael Bisping[/autotag] can’t see anything but a brutal ending to [autotag]Jamahal Hill[/autotag] vs. [autotag]Jiri Prochazka[/autotag] at UFC 311.

Former light heavyweight champions Hill (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) and Prochazka (30-5-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) square off in Saturday’s main card (pay-per-view, ESPNews/Disney+, ESPN+) at Intuit Dome.

Hill was showered with loud boos during Thursday’s UFC 311 pre-fight press conference, and Bisping thinks he has plenty to prove. With both fighters boasting a high knockout rate, Bisping guarantees fireworks.

“Jamahal Hill is going after everybody online. He’s done a great job of turning the fanbase against him, just coming out with madness,” Bisping said on TNT Sports. “But the way I look at that is that he’s got a chip on his shoulder. He’s annoyed, embarrassed and he’s mad, and those emotions could help you. He holds this dear to his heart.

“Then on the flip side, we’ve got the former champion as well, Jiri Prochazka, the samurai. We call that a joke, but he’s serious. He’s been out in Japan training with karate grandmasters. He’s been training up the mountains in Mexico City. He’s got a wild style. He’s crazy aggressive. He’s non-stop action. He’s unpredictable. He leaves his chin a little exposed, but he’s a true martial artist. I cannot wait for this fight. This could be Fight of the Night as long as it lasts. It’s going to be one of the most exciting fights you’re ever going to see, and somebody is going to get knocked out cold – I guarantee it.”

Both fighters will look to rebound from knockout losses to UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. Hill was knocked out in Round 1 by Pereira at UFC 300, whereas Prochazka was taken out in Round 2 of his fight against Pereira at UFC 303.

UFC 311: Jiri Prochazka shaved his head in support of fan fighting cancer

Jiri Prochazka shaved off his signature hairstyle ahead of UFC 311.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – [autotag]Jiri Prochazka[/autotag] shaved off his signature hairstyle ahead of UFC 311.

Former light heavyweight champions Prochazka (30-5-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and Jamahal Hill (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) square off on Saturday’s main card (pay-per-view, ESPNews/Disney+, ESPN+) at Intuit Dome.

Prochazka surprised many when he showed up to Thursday’s UFC 311 pre-fight press conference with a shaved head. A longtime fan of Prochazka’s, Ashley McGarity, paid homage to his “war hair” just before undergoing her cancer treatment, which immediately caught his attention.

Prochazka revealed that he’s donating 1 million Czech Koruna to support cancer research, which UFC CEO Dana White said he plans on matching.

“This hair was inspired by Ashley,” Prochazka said. “That girl, she’s fighting with cancer. She will come tomorrow. This is my showing solidarity because it’s about sending the good energy.

“Yesterday, I reached 1 million followers on Instagram so I will give for each other 1 million (Czech Koruna) by my foundation to oncologist patients. Martial arts has something to give back – it’s all about good energy.”

LOS ANGELES – The stars of UFC 311 came face-to-face for the first time during fight week Thursday following the pre-fight press conference.

Jamahal Hill ‘100 percent’ expects title shot with UFC 311 win over Jiri Prochazka

Jamahal Hill sees his fight with Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311 as a No. 1 contender bout.

LOS ANGELES – [autotag]Jamahal Hill[/autotag] sees his UFC 311 fight with [autotag]Jiri Prochazka[/autotag] as a No. 1 contender bout.

Former light heavyweight champions Hill (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) and Prochazka (30-5-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) throw down on Saturday’s main card (pay-per-view, ESPNews/Disney+, ESPN+) at Intuit Dome.

Hill will look to rebound from his knockout loss to light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira at UFC 300. Magomed Ankalaev is expected to be next in line for a title shot, but Hill doesn’t see his win over Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 308 as enough.

“Yeah, 100 percent,” Hill said on getting the next title shot Wednesday at UFC 311 media day. “I feel a win here, especially a dominant, impressive win here, next fight is title. Next is the championship. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be. Ankalaev fought No. 5, No. 4 or something like that last then that just says title? So, I’m fighting No. 2 in the world. I don’t see me going backward from that.”

Hill’s backstory with Pereira doesn’t just stem from their recent bout. The pair were involved in an altercation at the UFC Performance Institute last month, which Hill was heavily criticized for.

But Hill is baffled by those who don’t see the bigger picture of setting up a future showdown.

“Some people are stupid,” Hill said. “You can’t fix stupid. One plus one still equals two to me, but some people, common sense ain’t common. So, 100 percent that’s what I feel it is. I believe we come both with exciting styles to put on a performance and leave a lasting memory whenever we step into the cage.

“People liked it and loved the moment so much last time, so why wouldn’t you want it again? Plus, I’m not making any excuses because I signed the contract. I came in, I felt ready to go, and I felt like I was good. But still, nine months from an Achilles injury, I’d like to see what I’d do now with where I’m at now.”

Jiri Prochazka: Life improvements will lead to third shot at UFC champ Alex Pereira

Jiri Prochazka is confident he can regain the UFC light heavyweight title, despite coming up short twice since vacating the belt.

UFC light heavyweight champion: That’s a title [autotag]Jiri Prochazka[/autotag] is confident in having once more.

Prochazka (30-5-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) won the UFC belt at 205 pounds in mid-2022, vacated it due to injury months later, and since hasn’t been able to regain it. The Czech fighter has had two attempts, one in 2023 and one in 2024, and was stopped both times by current titleholder Alex Pereira.

Prochazka is not ready to give up on his championship dreams, and is confident his road back starts Saturday in his UFC 311 main card bout against fellow former champion [autotag]Jamahal Hill[/autotag].

“I said that many times, and I mean that very seriously,” Prochazka told MMA Junkie. “Everything that I say, I mean very seriously. I believe that I’ve made improvements to my style, to my life, in everything so I can face Alex Pereira a third time. I really believe that.

“I believe that I can be the champion, and I’m going for that – to be the champion again. No more words.”

Hill (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC), himself confident and outspoken, is known for his pre-fight antics and trash talk. Prochazka is not interested in engaging in those games.

He just wants to show the improvements he’s made that will take him back to the top.

“I just want to be myself – that’s all,” Prochazka said. “That’s what I want to show the world: The best version of myself, the best version of my kind, of how I see the martial arts, of my kind of style of fighting. This is what I want to share.

“This is what I want to show to the world – that I’m the best. I’ve made the improvements that I can be at the top, champion again. This is it.”

Luke Rockhold questions Jiri Prochazka’s mental state before UFC 311

Former UFC champ Luke Rockhold offered his insight on the big upcoming light heavyweight clash at UFC 311.

[autotag]Luke Rockhold[/autotag] offered his insight on the big upcoming light heavyweight clash at UFC 311.

[autotag]Jiri Prochazka[/autotag] (30-5-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and Jamahal Hill (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) square off in a key divisional matchup on Jan. 18 at Inuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif. The event streams on ESPN+ pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

Both fighters will look to rebound from knockout losses to UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, but former UFC and Strikeforce titleholder Rockhold is more concerned with Prochazka’s mental state heading into the fight.

“That’s a very tough fight man,” Rockhold said on the “JAXXON Podcast.” “You just don’t know where Jiri’s at. His head and his mind. Both of them, they’re coming off bad losses to Pereira. Jiri, two bad losses. He just didn’t look himself. He knew what he needed to do, and he went out there and fought blindly. I didn’t like the way that Jiri fought his last time out vs. Pereira.

“He just didn’t look like he would follow the game plan. Like, what were you doing? I don’t know. To think you could stand with him and play this karate style, kung fu game? You can’t fight like that, a guy that he’s so dangerous. You can’t fight with your hands down and you got to go for takedowns. You identified his weakness, but you didn’t even try to exploit it.”

Rockhold rates Hill as the sharper striker going into the potential title eliminator at UFC 311, and gives him the edge over Prochazka.

“Jamahal Hill’s more dangerous,” Rockhold said. “He’s got pop, he’s got power, he goes for the kill and Jamahal’s got funky – he’s weirdly athletic sometimes. He’s hard to take down. You’ve seen in the Glover fight, he was able to get up and get his way and funks his way through a lot of things, and he ends up finding his shot, the kill shot. But, like I said, this is a rebuilding process for both of them and you don’t know, but I don’t know. I might favor Jamahal in this one.”
