Sam Darnold is down yet another playmaker for Sunday’s contest against the 49ers, as Jamison Crowder has been ruled out by Adam Gase.
Crowder is currently nursing a hamstring injury which limited him in practice on Wednesday and forced him out of action on Thursday.
Crowder is also not practicing on Friday, prompting New York to rule him out. Despite his impending Week 2 absence, Gase does not think Crowder’s hamstring injury will become a long-term issue.
With Crowder out, Braxton Berrios will slide into the slot position. On outside, the Jets will have Breshad Perriman and Chris Hogan

The Jets placed RB Le’Veon Bell (hamstring), WR Denzel Mims (hamstrings) and Blake Cashman (groin) on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday.
Mims was inactive Week 1 after suffering an injury to his good hamstring during practice last week. Cashman exited Sunday’s game early in the first quarter after suffering an injury to his groin.

A former starter in Indianapolis, Moncrief has since bounced around with detours in Jacksonville, Pittsburgh and Carolina.
The 27-year-old will provide some much-needed depth for Gang Green, as the team has just seven healthy wide receivers at the moment.
Both Denzel Mims and Breshad Perriman are still nursing injuries, while Lawrence Cager recently went down with a knee injury. Jeff Smith was also added to the injury report Saturday.
The 27-year-old appeared in just five games for Pittsburgh last year, tallying 4 catches on 15 targets for 18 yards. He has caught 204 balls over his 6-year career for 2,561 yards and 21 touchdowns

The Arizona State product did little for Miami last year, rushing for 135 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games.
However, Ballage proved useful over limited looks as a rookie when Adam Gase was still the Dolphins’ head coach.
Ballage, who also has some experience returning punts, is likely a longshot to make the Jets’ 53-man roster.

Hogan, 32, has already made stops with division rivals Miami, Buffalo and New England — in addition to the 49ers, Giants and Panthers.
A Wyckoff, New Jersey native, Hogan is known for playing lacrosse at Penn State before spending a year with Monmouth’s football team.
He eventually became a dependable pass-catcher with the Bills and then Patriots after bouncing around the NFL early in his career.
A two-time Super Bowl champion in New England, Hogan recorded 1,651 yards and 12 touchdowns in 40 games with Tom Brady as his primary quarterback from 2016-2018.
He spent the 2019 season in Carolina, but a knee injury cost him a good chunk of the season. Hogan played in just seven games, caught eight passes and failed to score a touchdown
