Jets trading MLB Avery Williamson to Steelers

According to multiple sources including NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, the Steelers are working on a trade to acquire Jets inside linebacker Avery Williamson.
Pittsburgh has spent the last two weeks adjusting to life without Devin Bush and the results have been mixed.
Robert Spillane is a physical run-stopper but lacking in overall athleticism. The Steelers were hoping to utilize Ulysees Gilbert as the coverage linebacker but he was injured and missed Sunday’s game.
Williamson is a seven-year veteran, has spent the last 2+ seasons with the Jets, and is in the final year of his contract.
Williamson spent all of the 2019 season on IR with a torn ACL and was just activated before the start of the 2020 season

Sam Darnold to start vs. Bills barring a setback in practice

Adam Gase said on Friday that Sam Darnold will be the Jets’ starting quarterback this week barring a setback in practice on Friday.
Darnold has been limited in practice this week and still has some pain in his shoulder, but it’s manageable enough for him to play.
Darnold was injured in Week 4 against the Denver Broncos when he was body-slammed into the ground on a sack. He left the game to get checked on by the trainers but was able to return and finish the game.
However, after further testing, it was revealed that Darnold had sprained his AC joint in his right shoulder. He has missed the Jets’ last two games and Joe Flacco has started in his place.
Darnold has struggled so far this season as he’s thrown for 792 yards to go along with three touchdowns and four interceptions. Fortunately, he’ll likely have his full cast of weapons for the first time this season
