Joe Douglas reiterates desire to keep Jamal Adams with Jets

Earlier this offseason, Joe Douglas went out of his way to state that he wants to make Jamal Adams a Jet for life.
Now, with speculation over the safety’s future swirling once again ahead of the draft, the general manager reiterated that point on Monday.
Douglas, talking on a conference call, said he plans to “keep Jamal here for a long time”.
Adams made news last week when it was reported that he plans on skipping New York’s virtual offseason program, but Douglas was quick to note that the program is optional.
With Adams already set to skip the virtual offseason program, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he holds out for more down the road if a deal doesn’t get done.
The Jets, however, don’t necessarily have to rush things. Adams still has one guaranteed year left on his rookie deal, as well as his fifth-yer team option

Jets re-sign backup QB David Fales to one-year deal

The Jets returned to a familiar face on Tuesday, re-signing backup quarterback David Fales to a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Fales served as New York’s No. 2 quarterback behind Sam Darnold for most of last season. He appeared in two games last season but did not attempt a single pass.
Fales’ return to the Jets makes sense considering his familiarity and knowledge of Adam Gase’s offensive scheme.
In four NFL seasons, Fales has appeared in four games, completing 31 of his 48 pass attempts for 287 yards and a touchdown

Jets ink Breshad Perriman hours after losing Robby Anderson

Hours after Robby Anderson signed a two-year deal with Carolina, New York reached a one-year agreement with Buccaneers free agent Breshad Perriman.
The 26-year-old will get a one-year deal worth up to $8 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He will get $6 million guaranteed.
Perriman was drafted 26th overall by the Ravens in 2015, but he didn’t exactly live up to the hype in Baltimore. In two seasons, recording 43 catches, 576 yards and three touchdowns in 27 games.
Last season for Tampa Bay, Perriman caught 36 passes for 645 yards and six touchdowns, all personal bests. He also played a career-high 57 percent of offensive snaps

Jets retain LB James Burgess on 1-year deal

The Jets are re-signing free-agent linebacker James Burgess to a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Burgess, a non-tendered restricted free agent, is returning just a couple of days after the Jets elected not to extend him a tender.
Burgess provides nice depth at middle linebacker, giving the Jets four capable veterans in along with C.J. Mosley, Avery Williamson, and Neville Hewitt.
Filling in for multiple injured Jets up the middle last season, Burgess was dominant in the second half, recording 69 tackles and an interception in New York’s final eight games
