Another former UCLA Bruins athlete is heading to the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Over the weekend, Gymnast Jordan Chiles advanced to the summer games. Now former women’s soccer star Jessie Fleming will play for Team Canada. Not only will the 26-year-old play in the games, but will serve as the team captain.
This will be the third time she has played in the Olympics. She helped Canada win the gold medal back in 2020 when she scored the team’s only regular-time goal on a penalty kick.
Fleming played with UCLA from 2016-2019 and scored 25 goals in 75 appearances. After her time with the Bruins, she played 65 games with Chelsea and now has 11 appearances in the MLS with the Portland Thorns.

Fleming was also on the bronze medal-winning team of Canada back in 2016. She played for UCLA just a few days after the Olympic games and scored a goal in a loss to Florida. She earned first-team NSCAA All-Pacific Region and was All-Pac-12 as a freshman that season. Fleming graduated from UCLA In 2021.
