UFC 260 has lost a fight from Saturday’s lineup.

Jessica Penne’s long-awaited return to the octagon will have to wait longer.

[autotag]Hannah Goldy[/autotag] won’t be fighting Penne at UFC 260 on Saturday. In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Goldy (5-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) revealed she tested positive for COVID-19 and is out of her scheduled preliminary card matchup.

Her fight against Penne (12-5 MMA, 1-3 UFC) is expected to be rebooked for the promotion’s April 17 card, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

“Life is crazy man,” Goldy wrote on her Instagram post. “I literally can’t even believe I have to tell y’all that I won’t be fighting this Saturday. Flew out to Vegas and tested positive for COVID. I have never felt better, stronger or more complete. I was so ready to perform for y’all Saturday, unfortunately that was not Gods plan. I’ll be taking the necessary precautions and rescheduled as soon as I am healthy! I am so sorry guys. And I am so sorry @jessicapenne I have been looking forward to sharing the octagon with you. I will keep everyone updated. Thank you guys for all the support.”

With USADA suspension over, Jessica Penne targeted to fight Hannah Goldy at UFC 260

Jessica Penne hasn’t competed in the UFC since April 2017.

[autotag]Jessica Penne[/autotag] is back.

Having concluded a 20-month U.S. Anti-Doping Agency suspension, Penne (12-5 MMA, 1-3 UFC) is being targeted for a return against [autotag]Hannah Goldy[/autotag] at UFC 260 on March 27. The event doesn’t currently have an announced location or venue.

Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the planned booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Initially a four-year suspension, Penne’s discipline was reduced to a 20-month order by USADA after she tested “positive at trace levels for two metabolites of stanozolol, 16β-hydroxystanozolol and 3′-hydroxystanozolol” due to a tainted supplement. The suspension was made effective retroactively to the date of the test, April 8, 2019. It was Penne’s second career USADA suspension.

A former UFC women’s strawweight title challenge, Penne has lost three straight fights. After a loss to then-champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Penne was then defeated by Jessica Andrade and Danielle Taylor.

Goldy (5-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC), a Dana White’s Contender Series signee, was defeated by fellow UFC debutant Miranda Granger at UFC on ESPN 5 in August 2019. Goldy has not competed since then, though was booked for, and withdrew from, a fight vs. Loma Lookboonme in February 2020.

With the addition, the latest UFC Fight Night on March 27 lineup includes:

  • Champ Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou – for heavyweight title
  • Champ Alexander Volkanovski vs. Brian Ortega – for featherweight title
  • Jimmy Crute vs. Johnny Walker
  • Modestas Bukauskas vs. Michal Oleksiejczuk
  • Hannah Goldy vs. Jessica Penne

Jessica Penne has USADA suspension reduced from 4 years to 20 months for second violation

Jessica Penne gets reduced suspension from USADA.

[autotag]Jessica Penne[/autotag] will be able to return to fighting sooner than initially expected.

The former Invicta FC champion and UFC title challenger received a reduction to her second U.S. Anti-Doping Agency suspension. The news was announced by USADA on Friday.

Penne (12-5 MMA, 1-3 UFC) originally was suspended for four years after failing an out-of-competition drug test provided on April 2019, testing positive for two metabolites of stanozolol – 16β-hydroxystanozolol and 3′-hydroxystanozolol. Both substances are prohibited at all times under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy and UFC Prohibited List.

[lawrence-related id=479252,294791,246821]

But due to determine she wasn’t intentionally looking to cheat when she committed her first violation, as well as her participation in discussions with USADA in her second violation, USADA reduced Penne’s suspension from four years to 20 months.

The suspension is retroactive from April 8, 2019, the date her positive sample was collected. That means Penne will be able to return to competition on Dec. 8.

The 37-year-old fighter most recently competed in 2017 and dropped a unanimous decision to Danielle Taylor.
