Texas A&M is a finalist to land 2026 4-star ATH out of Willis (TX)

Texas A&M is a finalist to land on one of the top Texas-based prospects in the 2026 class

Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class is heating up. The Aggies have landed nine commitments in the cycle, including four-star defensive lineman Jordan Carter and four-star wide receiver Aaron Gregory, who announced their commitments after the Aggies’ comeback win over LSU this season.

Over the past week, coach Mike Elko and his staff have made headway with the No. 1 and 2-ranked offensive lineman in the 2026 class, while Friday’s news that four-star athlete Jermaine Bishop placed the Aggies in his top 8 program list is another dose of good news for a program on the rise.

Bishop is recognized as an athlete due to his versatility, enabling him to play cornerback or wide receiver at the next level. His speed, vision, and route-running abilities slightly resemble current Texas A&M wide receiver Terry Bussey.

Along with Texas A&M, Texas, USC, Florida, Oklahoma, Houston, Michigan, and Penn State made Bishop’s top 8 program list.

Bishop’s cousin is former star Kansas State quarterback Michael Bishop, so it’s no surprise that the younger Bishop is a potential star in the making.

During his 2024 junior season at Willis HS, Bishop reeled in 83 receptions, 1,565 yards, and 18 offensive touchdowns. Defensively, he recorded 26 tackles, three interceptions, and six pass deflections.

According to 247Sports, Bishop is the 35th-ranked prospect and the 5th-ranked athlete and player in Texas.

2026 4-star CB out of Willis (TX) will visit Texas A&M this weekend

Texas A&M will also host one of the top cornerbacks in the 2026 recruiting class amid a huge recruiting weekend

Ahead of Texas A&M’s 2024 season opener vs. Notre Dame this Saturday night, it has been reported by 247Sports’ Tom Loy that Mike Elko and his staff will host over 100 prospects in the 2025, 2026, and 2027 recruiting classes, which will now include 2026 4-star cornerback Jermaine Bishop.

Under Elko’s defensive scheme, the cornerback position will continue to build from a talent perspective every recruiting cycle, already locking down four defensive back commitments in the 2025 recruiting class, looking to add more future depth.

Set to enter his junior season at Willis HS (TX), Bishop fits the bill for Elko in terms of size, standing at 5-11 while possessing the speed and position versatility necessary to succeed at the next level.

An all-around athlete, Bishop also plays basketball and participates in track and field, adding to his athletic profile. A two-way player, Bishop also played wide receiver during his last two seasons, recording 1,414 yards and 17 touchdowns through the air and 37 tackles and five interceptions at cornerback.

According to 247Sports, Bishop is currently ranked 103rd among prospects in the 2026 cycle, 11th among cornerback prospects, and 13th among prospects in Texas.
