Former Auburn quarterback signs on to play football in Mexico

Jeremy Johnson earns a new deal to play football in Mexico.

Former Auburn Tigers quarterback Jeremy Johnson has found a new home at the professional level. The four-year passer played with the Tigers from 2013 to 2016. He is heading south of the border to continue his playing career.

It was announced that Johnson would sign with the Monterrey Parrilleros as their lone foreign player on the roster. The former U.S. Army All-American quarterback went undrafted in 2017 and received a tryout with the New York Giants before signing with the National Arena League’s Columbus Lions.

Johnson was also a member of the practice squad for the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders. As a member of the Tigers, Johnson was part of the 2013 team that played for the BCS national championship. He saw his most action in the 2015 season appearing in 10 games. The Tigers finished the 2015 campaign 7-6 with a win over Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl.

Overall, Johnson threw for 2,224 yards with 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 25 games over those four seasons. He will get an opportunity to show what he has in an international league.

Jeremy Johnson hired as quarterbacks coach at alma mater

Former Auburn quarterback Jeremy Johnson has been hired as the quarterbacks coach at his high school alma mater, Carver.

Jeremy Johnson is returning to his alma mater.

On Saturday, it was announced that the former Auburn quarterback has been hired as the quarterbacks coach at Carver High School in Montgomery.

During his time playing for the Wolverines, Johnson was named Mr. Football for the state of Alabama in 2012. He served as backup for Nick Marshall during the 2013-14 seasons on the Plains before taking over as starter in 2015.
