Notre Dame in pursuit of another transfer wide receiver?

Another wide receiver for Notre Dame fans to keep an eye on…

Is Notre Dame done adding wide receivers via the transfer portal for the 2024 season?

According to Tom Loy of 247Sports there is another recent entry to the portal that Marcus Freeman and his staff will pursue.  Cal wide receiver Jeremiah Hunter officially entered the transfer portal this week and Loy states that Notre Dame will be in pursuit.

Despite Cal struggling in recent years, Hunter has shined in three seasons.  He has totaled 144 receptions for 2,056 yards and 13 touchdowns with the Bears.

Hunter was rated as a three-star prospect out of Central East High School in Fresno, California in the 2021 recruiting cycle.

Notre Dame has already added former Florida International receiver Kris Mitchell and former Clemson receiver Beaux Collins via the portal since the regular season’s conclusion.

Tale of the Tape: Top Receivers – Michael Mayer vs. Jeremiah Hunter

Think anyone on the Irish will shine at this position against California?

For the first time, we can say Notre Dame legitimately sizes up well with the top producer at a skills position when it comes to California. Then again, we already knew going into the season that [autotag]Michael Mayer[/autotag] is a beast. Even if his early numbers don’t look that good and they’re reflective of an Irish offense that has struggled mightily, we know he has the talent. The question is whether [autotag]Drew Pyne[/autotag] will know to look for him at the right moments.

In spite of what Mayer is, the Bears’ Jeremiah Hunter has had the better year to this point. No, it isn’t by much, but the numbers don’t lie. In fact, these numbers don’t indicate that there is any big receiver on either side to look out for when these teams meet. It’s becoming more difficult to predict what skill players will decide this game, and it’s almost impossible to think it will be someone for the Irish.
