Aaron Rodgers had another hilarious interaction with a ‘Jeopardy!’ contestant

More fantastic hosting.

Aaron Rodgers’ two-week stint as Jeopardy! guest host is coming to an end, but it’s been quite a run for the Green Bay Packers QB.

He’s handled curveballs thrown at him, teased contestants who didn’t answer a Packers clue, and followed some of his own notes stuck to his podium. Our Andy Nesbitt certainly isn’t the only one calling for Rodgers to become the full-time host in the near future.

One other thing he’s done: had fun with the getting-to-know-the-contestants portion of the show — remember the “football cousins” moment? On Thursday, contestant Lindsay’s fun fact is that lots of people mistake her name and call her Ashley.

So Rodgers responded, “Alright, Ashley.”

LOL.

Rodgers apparently kept up the joke off-camera, per The Ringer:

Later, Rodgers continued to call her Ashley in all their subsequent off-camera interactions. Wilcox, who is a teacher, says, “I’m very excited to impress all these middle schoolers that Aaron Rodgers and I basically have an inside joke.”

Aaron Rodgers shares the helpful notes he stuck on the ‘Jeopardy!’ podium

This is so good.

Despite the fact that hosting Jeopardy! is very much NOT like being an MVP quarterback of an NFL team, Aaron Rodgers is doing an amazing job, whether it’s having great interactions with contestants or handling curveballs in Final Jeopardy.

That might be because of his preparation for the two-week role … or it could be due to all the sticky notes on his podium.

On Tuesday, the Green Bay Packers QB gave the world a behind-the-scenes look at the host’s podium, and his version of it is covered in yellow Post-it notes: “SLOW DOWN,” “STAND UP STRAIGHT,” “RELAX [which is underlined],” “ENERGY,” and my favorite, “Don’t pick your nose/butt.”

“And the last one,” he wrote, referring to the nose/butt note, “was just to check if anyone was looking at my podium between games. Turns out, John the stage manager was, and we had a good laugh about it.”

Awesome. You can tell what a thrill this is for Rodgers and he’s doing a heck of a job.

Aaron Rodgers teases ‘Jeopardy!’ contestants who all missed Packers question

Aaron Rodgers continues to be an excellent “Jeopardy!” guest host.

Aaron Rodgers’ run as a guest host of Jeopardy! — he’s one of several people filling in for the late Alex Trebek — has been fantastic, and a producer of the show even said recently that “his second career could be better than his first.”

Of course, as a huge fan of the show and a former contestant, the Green Bay Packers quarterback has been having fun with it, and one of the contestants even roasted him over the Packers’ most recent playoff loss.

During the episode that aired Tuesday, it was Rodgers’ turn to tease the contestants when they all missed a clue about the Packers.

In a sports category named TITLE WAVES during the opening round, the clue was:

“In the 1960s these Midwesterners earned 5 NFL Championship trophies”

Nothing from the contestants, leading a deflated Rodgers to point out the correct response was: The Green Bay Packers.

The contestants stuck with the sports category, however, and when the $600 clue came up — “They swept over the NBA, winning the title every year from 1959 to 1966” — Erick buzzed in first, correctly answering the Boston Celtics. And to that, Rodgers responded:

“Oh, you know that one, huh?”

Here’s a longer version of the clip with the both questions:

Unfortunately for Rodgers, he’s in his second and final week as the Jeopardy! guest host. But there are plenty of fans out there who wish he could keep going.

When USA TODAY recently asked if Rodgers would ever consider becoming the permanent host of the show one day, he said, “Hell yeah, I would.”

Aaron Rodgers and a ‘Jeopardy!’ contestant have a funny exchange about being ‘football cousins’

“So we’re football cousins.”

Aaron Rodgers’ tenure as a Jeopardy! guest host has, so far, included a contestant taking a swipe at the Green Bay Packers’ playoff loss.

Thursday’s episode had one of those classic mid-first round exchanges between contestant and host, in which the former tells an amusing story to the latter.

This one is pretty funny — Pasquale the financial services professional from New York claims that he and Rodgers have, as the QB puts it, “an interesting football connection.”

The contestant then basically plays Six Degrees of Separation (or Kevin Bacon) with football coaches, connecting himself to the great Vince Lombardi.

“So we’re football cousins,” Pasquale says.

“Four degrees of separation there,” Rodgers says with a smirk.

“Hey, it’s better than six!” Pasquale counters.

Well played on both sides.

Aaron Rodgers was super surprised when a Jeopardy contestant roasted Packers’ playoff loss

Well played.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has long been a huge fan of the show, Jeopardy!, and this week, viewers will get to see Rodgers live out his dream as a guest host on the show.

They’ll also get to witness a Jeopardy contestant mock the Packers’ playoff loss to Rodgers’ face.

On Monday, Rodgers told ESPN that one of the contestants ended up getting stumped on an answer in the Final Jeopardy round. So, instead of taking a guess and risking money, this contestant, Scott, wagered no money and went for the funny moment instead.

Rodgers did not see it coming at all.

Scott wrote:

“Who wanted to kick that field goal?”

The obvious reference to the Packers’ decision to kick a field goal instead of going for a game-tying touchdown in the NFC Championship gave everyone an opportunity to see Rodgers’ heart break in real time.

To Rodgers’ credit, he handled the joke extremely well and even agreed with the remark.

Some shocking ‘Final Jeopardy!’ betting led to a contestant winning with just $2,000

Wow.

Among the skills needed to win a game of Jeopardy! is buzzing in at the right time … and doing the math to ensure a Final Jeopardy win.

Here, we have a case of the latter being an issue, although it’s a scenario that I, a person who does not think I could come close to winning a game of Jeopardy!, would not know how to handle.

Two contestants on Wednesday’s episode went into the final round tied at $14,200, and the other had just $2,000. The category was European Landmarks and the clue was a tough one: “Of the principal architects working on it from the mid-1500s to the 1980s, like Pierre Lescot & Hector Lefuel, none were foreigners.”

None of the three got the answer right (the Louvre!), and here’s where the betting comes into play: what do you bet when you’re tied with someone?

It turns out both of them gambled it all … and lost. The third place contestant didn’t bet a dime. So with $2,000, she moved on.

It’s not a tie-breaker, which is a rarity, but still pretty wild.

Mark your calendars: Here’s when Aaron Rodgers will guest-host ‘Jeopardy!’

It’s happening!!

Aaron Rodgers wasn’t kidding when he revealed in January that he was going to be an upcoming guest host on Jeopardy! after the death of Alex Trebek.

The newly-engaged Rodgers — fiancee Shailene Woodley just called him “the nerd who wants to host Jeopardy!” — who once won a celebrity edition of the quiz show will start his 10-show run on April 5, per USA TODAY. His episodes will follow those hosted by Dr. Oz.

In case you need a reminder of how good Rodgers was when he was on the show in 2015, here’s a video. Although hosting is an entirely different challenge, I think he’s going to be outstanding.

Jeopardy! saw a super rare Final Jeopardy sudden-death tiebreaker round

A rare winner-take-all Jeopardy! moment.

Jeopardy! contestant Brian Chang is a four-game winner after this week’s episodes, but it wasn’t easy because Friday’s contest had a super rare tie in Final Jeopardy. And that meant the tied contestants had a sudden-death, winner-take-all final round with just one question.

It’s happened before on the beloved gameshow, but it’s still incredibly unusual with so many factors contributing to how much money the contestants are left with at the end.

Going into Final Jeopardy during Friday’s episode, Brian and fellow contestant Jack Weller were tied with $18,800 apiece. They both correctly answered the Final Jeopardy question and both wagered everything, so at the end, they were again tied with $37,600.

The tiebreaker category was History, and guest host Ken Jennings — who’s among the famous faces temporarily replacing the late Alex Trebek — explained how it would work. He’d read a single clue, and whoever buzzed in first and gave the correct response would win.

The clue?

In October 1961 Stalin’s body was removed from display in this other man’s tomb

Brian buzzed in first and said: “Who is Lenin?” It was the correct answer, making Brian a four-game champ after this unexpected sudden-death round.

Wild! Gotta love when Jeopardy! offers up some surprises.

A ‘Jeopardy!’ contestant trolled Ken Jennings so hard with his final answer

Ouch.

When you’re Ken Jennings and you’re an all-time legend of a Jeopardy! champion, maybe you don’t mind being trolled a little.

That seemed like the case when Brian, a contestant who was in the lead, answered this clue: “Adjusted for inflation, the nightly rate this company put in its name in 1962 is now $51.”

The answer was “Motel 6.” But Brian didn’t know that and instead put down, “H&R Block.”

Why is that significant? That was the correct answer in a Final Jeopardy back when Jennings’ 74-game winning streak ended, and it was an answer that Jennings whiffed on.

Well played, Brian. And good reaction, Ken.
