Former Vol Spencer Riley earned Tennessee Region 1-6A Coach of the Year honors.

Riley guided Jefferson County High School (Dandridge, Tennessee), to a region championship in 2023. The Patriots went 10-2 (5-0 Region 1-6A) and were eliminated in the second round of the TSSAA Class 6A playoffs.

Jefferson County won nine consecutive games during the 2023 season.

Riley is a 1996 Jefferson County graduate and played for the Vols from 1996-99. He was a four-year letterman at Tennessee and started at guard during his first two seasons before moving to center as a junior.

Riley played under head coach Phillip Fulmer and was a member of the Vols’ 1998 national championship team.

He was named the Patriots’ head coach in 2016 and is 38-47 during his tenure, making four playoff appearances, including three consecutive.

Jefferson County could earn a first-round home game in the TSSAA Class 6A playoffs with a victory against West Ridge (Blountville, Tennessee) Friday.
