AEW Collision results 03/02/24: Revolution Eve in Huntsville

AEW Collision filled in the final spot on the Revolution card and added a match to the pre-show as well.

We’re so, so close to AEW Revolution now. In fact, we’re so close that AEW Collision isn’t live tonight, having been taped earlier this week in Huntsville, Ala.

It’s a go home show for sure, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing important happening. For one, there’s a three-way match that will fill the final spot in the

AEW Collision results:

  • Buddy Matthews was supposed to wrestle an unknown opponent when he was attacked by Mark Briscoe; a wild brawl ensued that also drew in other members of the House of Black, but Briscoe was able to fight them all off and nearly managed to burn Matthews with the pyro and flame jests before the House retreated
  • Swerve Strickland admits that Hangman Adam Page tricked him good on Dynamite, but also says it won’t happen again and that he’ll take the AEW World Championship from Samoa Joe at Revolution
  • Dante Martin def. Bryan Keith and Penta El Zero Miedo by pinning Keith to win a spot in the All-Star 8-Man Scramble at Revolution
  • Page is shown angrily explaining that he isn’t proud of the deception he pulled off but insists “I had to do it”
  • Mariah May def. Angelica Risk by pinfall; afterward, “Timeless” Toni Storm blows by May right after the bell and calls for Deonna Purrazzo to join her in the ring, and the two friends turned rivals exchange one last set of threats, then some blows after Storm kisses Purrazzo on the cheek; May tries to help Storm but gets beaten up for her efforts

AEW Rampage results 02/02/24: CMLL takes over

A look at all the action from Friday’s episode of AEW Rampage.

As Revolution approaches, AEW makes its way to New Orleans for the latest episode of Rampage. While Friday night’s action may not influence the upcoming pay-per-view landscape, some wrestlers still have something to prove ahead of the March event.

On the path to defending their AEW Tag Team Championship against Darby Allin and Sting, Ricky Starks and Big Bill will face The Dark Order in an Eliminator match, aiming to make a statement ahead of the impending title clash. A win also gives Alex Reynolds and John Silver an inside look at a championship match against the incumbents.

Along with a potential highlight reel of a match between Top Flight and Private Party, Rampage promises a packed night of action to begin February.

AEW Battle of the Belts 9 results: Sammy takes a huge fall, champs retain

See how the title matches went on AEW Battle of the Belts IX, as well as Sammy Guevara’s ridiculous dive.

When it comes to truth in advertising, few events can hang with an AEW Battle of the Belts show. These quarterly cards offer nothing but championship matches, though to be fair, usually not the top titles.

Be that as it may, we would never complain about an hour of bonus wrestling on free TV where there are real stakes for each bout. As well, some of the title bouts on previous editions of this show have seemed kind of random, but the only one on this one that fits that description is Orange Cassidy’s title defense, and that’s kind of his whole thing.

So yeah, championships on the line is something we dig. Will any of them change hands? Let’s find out.

AEW Battle of the Belts IX results from Norfolk:

  • The show begins with the first match already underway, as the tag team title street fight got rolling during the closing moment of Collision
  • Big Bill and Ricky Starks def. Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara vs. by pinfall in a Street Fight to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship; the match starts outside the arena, literally in the street, and ranges all over the backstage area to include a number of weapons, including a fire extinguisher, a copier and various food items, but the end comes after some well-timed interference by the Don Callis Family, including Powerhouse Hobbs pulling Starks away from a very high dive by Guevara that sends him through part of the stage

  • Another vignette shows Serena Deeb ready to return and seek her first AEW gold
  • Julia Hart def. Anna Jay by submission to retain the AEW TBS Championship
  • Sonjay Dutt and Karen Jarrett want Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett back on the same page, and Satnam Singh accidentally just kind of makes things worse
  • Orange Cassidy def. Preston Vance by pinfall to retain the AEW International Championship, with Roderick Strong and The Kingdom watching from the ramp
  • They don’t stay on the ramp, sliding in afterward and throwing Vance and Jose the Assistant out; the show ends with Strong telling Cassidy the clock is ticking

AEW Rampage results 01/05/24: Wheeler Yuta keeps it Pure

More developments in the ongoing Kris Statlander-Stokely Hathaway saga also unfolded on AEW Rampage.

While some people question the need for ROH when it is a sub-brand of AEW these days, here’s an even more pertinent question for tonight’s episode of AEW Rampage: Does there need to be a ROH Pure Championship?

We say yes. There’s something cool about a title having its own specific set of rules in a day and age when there are so many championships overall with very little to distinguish between them in many cases.

It’s even good when a heel has it, like Wheeler Yuta does right now, because we get to see how rulebreakers operate within the confine of, well, rules.

Just something to think about while we dive into this AEW Rampage.

  • Renee Paquette asks Sammy Guevara about his singles match against Ricky Starks, who he praises as a great talent but says he isn’t better than the best, while Chris Jericho promises to make Uncle Joe cry if Big Bill interferes
  • Paquette speaks with Anna Jay ahead of her match against Hikaru Shida, and Anna says it’s time for this to be her year and that she needs to do this for herself; Harley Cameron stops by to say he wants to help everyone there, including Daddy Magic, Cool Hand Ang and Jake Hager, and she seems to say something suggestive to Coll Hand Ang
  • Stokely Hathaway does the ring intros for the next match, not sus at all, especially since she praises Kris Statlander and disses Willow Nightingale

AEW Rampage results 11/10/23: Love in the air in Oakland?

OK it was a lot of fists and pinfalls as well, but also a romance subplot on this episode of AEW Rampage.

This is like Bizarro AEW this Friday night. Why? Because Rampage is live and Collision will be taped right after it. See? Bizarro!

But that also means the crowd at the Oakland Arena should be hit for this edition of Rampage, because they’re seeing it fresh instead of after two hours of Dynamite. That’s something and can only help what we’re about to watch.

Let’s see how this live hour plays out.

AEW Rampage results from Oakland:

  • Ricky Starks def. Preston Vance by pinfall with just a tiny bit of help from tag team partner Big Bill, who was on guest commentary; afterward, Rush and Dralistico hustle down to save their teammate
  • Chris Jericho calls out Konosuke Takeshita ahead of their match in DDT Pro this weekend in Japan, vowing to get his revenge
  • Don Callis and Prince Nana say they’ve made a deal to have Brian Cage fight alongside Callis’ Family (since Sammy Guevara still isn’t cleared) next week on Dynamite for the Street Fight
  • Jeff Jarrett takes exception to questions about when Jay Lethal will get his ROH World Championship shot, and Lethal brags about beating Eddie Kingston; Ortiz stops by and proves unafraid of the odds, smacking Lethal and getting saved from certain ruin by a gaggle of refs and officials
  • Red Velvet def. Ruby soho by pinfall after Ruby gets distracted by flowers being delivered to her during the match (no, really)
  • Roderick Strong comes out with The Kingdom, insulting Oakland and saying he wants to dedicate the upcoming match to his best friend, Adam Cole

  • Daniel Garcia says he’s sick of being sad, and to cheer himself up, he wanted to challenge someone he has respect for, and he’s decided on Andrade; Soho and Saraya stop by and get into it with Angelo Parker and Matt Menard, and while it seems like Ruby and Angelo are hitting it off, their partner seem to want to keep them apart

  • FTR def. Komander and El Hijo del Vikingo by pinfall, and the two team show each other respect afterward … but then the lights go out and the House of Black gives them mock applause on the big screen

AEW Collision results 10/21/23: House of Black runs roughshod but faces rally to end the show

The AEW tag team champions were the unexpected beneficiary of the return of Malakai Black and company.

It’s not fun to think about, but since Bryan Danielson has said it himself, it’s time to face facts: We won’t have the pleasure of watching the American Dragon in the ring forever. That’s why it behooves AEW to get him in the ring with as many amazing opponents as possible while he’s still around, which is exactly what’s happening on tonight’s episode of AEW Collision in Memphis.

Tony Khan announced a few days ago that he had a dream match lined up for tonight, and while that inevitably led to fans’ imaginations running wild with potential opponents from just about everywhere, it turns out there was one within the company who has been appearing on Collision quite often. That’d be Andrade El Idolo, who has, pretty incredibly, never faced Bryan in a televised match of any kind.

(Seriously, we had our research intern look it up. Just kidding, we don’t have one of those.)

While that bout may just be for the pure in-ring excitement, the rest of Collision looks like it stems from things going on over AEW programming in recent weeks. Eddie Kingston will battle Jeff Jarrett in a Memphis Street Fight, attempting to keep Jay Lethal from earning a shot at his ROH World Championship.

New-ish AEW World Tag Team Champions Big Bill and Ricky Starks will try to remain in that position when they face Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta, while the previous titleholders, FTR, return to action for the first time since losing them. And Action Andretti will try to keep his head attached to his shoulders while staying out of any marital drama as he takes on Miro.

AEW Rampage results 10/20/23: Mistico comes calling

Get full results for the Oct. 20, 2023 episode of AEW Rampage, featuring Mistico making his AEW debut.

Think AEW can’t bring in anyone else to help move tickets? Think again.

With tonight’s show (which also included this week’s episode of Dynamite) needing some late sales, Tony Khan wisely added Mistico to the card. And in the Houston area, he’s a very big deal. And it seems to have set up an ongoing working relationship between AEW and CMLL, which would be interesting.

Even better, he’s going up against Rocky Romero, who is a face in New Japan but is a noted heel in Mexico. So this should be fun.

Let’s see how this hour of Rampage went down.

AEW Dynamite results 09/27/23: Switchblade guns for MJF, Swerve and Hangman are fired up

Adam Cole also delivered some bad injury news on AEW Dynamite from Broomfield.

The card for AEW WrestleDream this Sunday seems pretty much set since there are already nine confirmed matches. But that doesn’t mean tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite from the greater Denver area couldn’t still shake up things for Seattle somehow.

It’s not 100% clear how just by looking at what’s been promoted for tonight’s show, to be fair. Willow Nightingale will take on Julia Hart in what should be a great pairing of two of AEW’s rising stars, but Hart already has a title shot this weekend against Kris Statlander.

The same is true of the four-way battle between Orange Cassidy, Penta, Matt Jackson and Austin Gunn. Will it be fun? Almost certainly. But those peeps are already half each of four teams who will be competing for a future tag team title shot in Seattle.

Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland will sign on the dotted line before they tear into each other at WrestleDream, so perhaps there will be a wrinkle added there. A last minute stipulation of some sort can’t be ruled out.

There’s also the unfortunate matter of a potential injury to Adam Cole. Tony Khan said that his status would be addressed on Dynamite, and since he and his Better Than You Bay Bay partner MJF are scheduled to speak, hopefully it won’t be to tell us that Cole can’t go come Sunday.

Certainly, Khan’s cryptic comments about the end of an era and the beginning of a new one, which he has chosen to keep enigmatic, have raised some eyebrows. Could there be some hints toward what might be coming on Dynamite?

There’s only one way to find out. Well, two ways, really. Let’s get into this show and see what’s what.

AEW Rampage results: Jade Cargill falls to Kris Statlander in possible AEW farewell

Get full AEW Rampage results for the Sept. 15, 2023 episode, with Kris Statlander defending the TBS Championship against Jade Cargill.

Is it already time to say goodbye to Jade Cargill after we just welcomed her back? That seems to be a real possibility and one that is very much hanging over tonight’s episode of AEW Rampage.

This week, a Fightful Select report suggested that Cargill is likely done with AEW and potentially on her way to WWE. It’s a pairing that makes a lot of sense, but the timing and potential impact of it is a bit surprising, to say the least.

That means that Cargill will most likely end her time with two consecutive losses, albeit months apart, after going undefeated for so long. That’s going to be strange indeed, but here’s hoping for all the best for her whether she’s headed to the other company or not.

AEW Dynamite Fight for the Fallen results 08/16/23: All In takes even more shape

Also on AEW Dynamite Fight for the Fallen, Britt Baker won her way to London against The Bunny.

In terms of putting in work to elevate a “secondary” title, Orange Cassidy has been doing the textbook definition of it for months now. Yet all good things must come to an end, and you can’t help but feel leading into a special Fight for the Fallen edition of AEW Dynamite (with proceeds going to the Maui Food Bank) that the end might finally be approaching for the Freshly Squeezed one.

It’s not so much that Wheeler Yuta is one of the most lively challengers for his AEW International Championship, though he is definitely that. No, the issue is more that Yuta’s group, the Blackpool Combat Club, just seems like a force of nature right now. The BCC has been running roughshod over Dynamite for weeks, so it wouldn’t be shocking if Yuta gets the victory tonight.

There are other matches on tonight’s card with high stakes. Britt Baker seems like she should be in the four-way championship match at All In, but she’ll need to beat The Bunny to do it. You’d expect the good doctor to do exactly that, but there are also women with vested interests in keeping Baker off the London show, and it’s fair to wonder if any of them will intervene.

Because sponsorships make the world go ’round, there’s a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game coming out, which is why the Deathmatch between Jeff Jarrett and Jeff Hardy, two gents who are old enough to know better, has that particular theme. Plus Darby Allin and Nick Wayne will try to get some measure of revenge against the Gates of Agony as they await the opportunity to get at Swerve Strickland and AR Fox.

  • Chris Jericho has an answer for Don Callis, but it isn’t what Callis expects, and when he’s caught in a lie, he unleashes Takeshita … and Will Ospreay
  • Jack Perry says he’s going to retire the FTW Championship next week on Dynamite
  • Darby Allin and Nick Wayne def. Gates of Agony by pinfall before Sting reveals he has Prince Nana captive
  • MJF tells Adam Cole they need to get in the minds of their opponents at Zero Hour, so they head to Outback Steakhouse; also, Cole tells Max they can prepare for Aussie Open by watching both Crocodile Dundee movies and they end up getting yelled at by Tony Khan for doing the double clothesline backstage
  • MJF and Adam Cole talk about London, then repulse a sneak attack from Aussie Open
  • A bloody Jericho tells Ospreay he could have just asked for the match at Wembley since it was supposed to happen in 2021, and promises to make Will drink his own blood in London
  • Jeff Jarrett def. Jeff Hardy by pinfall in a Texas Chainsaw Massacre Deathmatch that also drags in about seven other people and … Leatherface?
  • Britt Baker def. The Bunny by pinfall to earn the final spot in the four-way women’s title match at All In
  • A video shoes Billy Gunn retiring and The Acclaimed telling him how much he’ll be missed
  • As The Acclaimed makes their entrance for a squash match, the lights go out, then back up to find the House of Black in the ring; Brody King has a chain wrapped around his fist and uses it to start a monster beatdown
  • Young Bucks def. The Gunns by pinfall, and are bailed out from a post-match attack by Bullet Club Gold by FTR
