[autotag]Jean Silva[/autotag] missed weight at UFC 303, but made up for it in a big way with his performance against [autotag]Charles Jourdain[/autotag].

Silva (13-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) was the hunter from the opening bell of the catchweight fight Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, hurting Jourdain (15-8-1 MMA, 6-7-1 UFC) multiple times before a final knockdown led to the referee stepping in at 1:22 mark of Round 2.

Check out the replay of the stoppage blow (via X):

After the fight, Silva claimed falling down a flight of stairs prior to fight week led to his weight miss, then sent a message to the featherweight division.

“I think I’m the most dangerous,” Silva said in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. “I think I’m the most aggressive (featherweight).”

UFC 303 adds another fight to Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler undercard

A 10th fight is official for UFC 303 – and it has action potential on paper.

The UFC 303 lineup now has fight No. 10.

The promotion announced Saturday on social media the latest addition to the card headlined by Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler. In a featherweight prelim on the June 29 undercard at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Canada’s [autotag]Charles Jourdain[/autotag] will battle Brazil’s [autotag]Jean Silva[/autotag].

Jourdain (15-7-1 MMA, 6-6-1 UFC) aims to bounce back from a split decision defeat to Sean Woodson at UFC 297 in January. The loss snapped a two-fight winning streak that included victories over Kron Gracie and Ricardo Ramos.

Silva (12-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) was supposed to compete at UFC 301 on May 4, but opponent William Gomis was deemed medically unfit to compete after a frightening offiial weigh-in appearance. Silva is a Dana White’s Contender Series signee who won his promotional debut in January with a first-round knockout of Westin Wilson.

With the addition, the UFC 303 lineup now includes:

  • Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler
  • Jamahal Hill vs. Khalil Rountree
  • Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Macy Chiasson
  • Andre Fili vs. Cub Swanson
  • Marc-Andre Barriault vs. Joe Pyfer
  • Gillian Robertson vs. Michelle Waterson-Gomez
  • Carlos Hernandez vs. Rei Tsuruya
  • Yanis Ghemmouri vs. Payton Talbott
  • Andrei Arlovski vs. Martin Buday
  • Charles Jourdain vs. Jean Silva

William Gomis vs. Jean Silva scrapped from UFC 301 in Brazil

UFC 301 has lost a preliminary card bout after one fighter’s scary pre-fight weigh-in.

In a bizarre circumstance, a fight has been scrapped from UFC 301 – after a fighter successfully made weight.

[autotag]William Gomis[/autotag] (13-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) struggled to make the walk to the scale Friday in Rio de Janeiro for his featherweight fight on the prelims against [autotag]Jean Silva[/autotag] (12-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC). Wearing a T-shirt and shorts, he got on the scale and was 143 pounds – a full 3 pounds under the non-title featherweight limit.

He needed to be helped off the scale and behind the stage, though, and it was reported that he vomited just prior to coming to the scale. His condition was deemed bad enough that the fight was canceled not long after the official weigh-ins.

MMA Junkie confirmed the news with a person with knowledge of the situation in Brazil. The UFC has not yet made a formal announcement after the news first was reported by French outlet LaSueur.

UFC 301 (Pay-per-view/ESPN/ESPN+) takes place Saturday at Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro.

Gomis has not lost since 2016. He has wins in his first three UFC fights, including a third-round body kick knockout of Yanis Ghemmouri this past September. He was supposed to return in February, but pulled out of a fight against Melsik Baghdasaryan, and now will miss another assignment.

It is not yet known if the UFC will try to keep the fight with Silva intact. Silva was set to fight in front of his home fans in Brazil for the first time in the UFC.

UFC Fight Night 234 video: Jean Silva bludgeons Westin Wilson for first-round debut finish

Jean Silva may not rush his movements outside of the cage, but inside, he’s an explosive finisher.

[autotag]Jean Silva[/autotag] took his time making his way to the octagon during his debut walkout at UFC Fight Night 234, but made the wait worth it with a fantastic first-round finish.

Silva (12-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) savored his first walk to the UFC’s cage, moving like a sloth as he stared into the camera. According to the broadcast, his walkout took 3:40. In the fight, his opponent Westin Wilson lasted just a few more seconds than the walkout, which Silva finished by TKO at 4:12 of Round 1.

To start, Silva extended his hand to touch gloves, but Wilson (16-9 MMA, 0-2 UFC) wasn’t having it. Silva shrugged it off and began stalking him around the cage. Soon, explosive punches began finding their target, putting Wilson in danger.

The damage continued to accumulate and Wilson was on shaky legs late in the round, including a well-timed knee to the head by Silva that countered a takedown. Wilson still completed that attempt, but was unable to keep Silva down. “Lord Assassin” got right back up and put the finishing touches on the fight with powerful, well-placed punches that prompted the referee to step in.

Silva, who appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series in September, picked up his ninth career first-round finish as he also extended his current winning streak to nine.

“Nobody’s ever going to be able to stand with me, never,” Silva said through an interpreter during his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping.
