NASCAR organization files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2024

A NASCAR organization has reportedly filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2024. Which NASCAR team has shockingly filed for bankruptcy?

A well-known NASCAR Xfinity Series organization has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. According to public records, [autotag]JD Motorsports[/autotag] filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in South Carolina on April 8, 2024. William Penn is representing JD Motorsports from the Penn Law Firm as the organization navigates through the situation.

According to TobyChristie.com, JD Motorsports laid off staff members on Monday morning. This comes after JD Motorsports withdrew the No. 6 Xfinity car from the race weekend at Pocono Raceway. TobyChristie.com also reports that JD Motorsports “intends” to enter a car into the Xfinity Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

This is a massive development for JD Motorsports, which made its Xfinity Series debut in 1983. It’s unclear what the future holds for the NASCAR organization, but it could represent the end of a long and storied history in the Xfinity Series. JD Motorsports has never won a race in its 27-year history, with only seven top-5 finishes in 1,650 starts.

JD Motorsports’ 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series season in review

JD Motorsports had an average year in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Here, you can check out the NASCAR team’s 2023 season in review!

[autotag]JD Motorsports[/autotag] had several drivers onboard for the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, and it turned into one of their best finishes in a while. Brennan Poole, the driver of the No. 6 car, secured the organization’s first top-5 finish since Stephen Leicht in 2019. Poole ended the season 24th in the point standings with a 25.3 average finishing position.

Several other drivers, such as Ty Dillon, Kyle Weatherman, and Garrett Smithley, drove an entry for JD Motorsports but failed to secure a top-10 finish. The organization hasn’t shown the speed improvement to truly compete every week among the top teams in the series. Still, Poole had the best season for a JD Motorsports driver since 2020.

In 2024, Poole will not return to the No. 6 Xfinity car as he will join Alpha Prime Racing full-time. For JD Motorsports, Dawson Cram will drive the No. 4 Xfinity car full-time while the organization looks for drivers and partners with the No. 6 car. Hopefully for Cram, the organization will see an uptick in speed next year.

Dawson Cram to join JD Motorsports for 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season

Dawson Cram will drive the No. 4 car for JD Motorsports on a full-time basis during the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

[autotag]JD Motorsports[/autotag] announced on Wednesday morning that [autotag]Dawson Cram[/autotag] will drive the No. 4 Xfinity car full-time in 2024. Cram spent most of the 2023 NASCAR season in the Xfinity Series while competing between CHK Racing and SS-Greenlight Racing. To this point in his career, he has never received a full-time ride in one of NASCAR’s top levels.

Cram had a best finish of 19th place at the Xfinity Series season finale at Phoenix Raceway in the No. 07 car for SS-Greenliight Racing. The 22-year-old driver has never earned a top-10 finish in his 12 Xfinity Series starts. The same can be said in the NASCAR Truck Series after running 31 races over six seasons since he turned 16 years old.

Overall, this is a great partnership between Cram and JD Motorsports. The NASCAR organization has gone through several drivers over the last few seasons, and solidifying a spot with Cram is beneficial. While it may take some time before Cram finds a groove, there should be optimism about this partnership moving forward.
