Jazz at Clippers picks and predictions

Prediction

Jazz 115, Clippers 111

Moneyline

The Jazz are 1-0 this season when playing with a rest disadvantage, although they are 0-1 on no rest. They have alternated wins and losses in their last 7 games and are coming off a loss.

The Clippers have lost 3 straight and are only 3-4 at home this season. In their last 3 games, they are allowing 123.3 points per game. On the season, they only average 109.2 points per game.

The Jazz have scored over 110 points in 4 straight games and 5 of their last 6.

The Clippers are 1-3 with a rest advantage.

Take a shot at the upset Sunday.

BET JAZZ (+375).

Against the spread

The Jazz are 3-1 ATS in their last 4 games. The Clippers have not covered the spread in their last 4 games and are 3-6-1 ATS in their last 10.

The safer bet is to have the Jazz cover the +9.5, but if you go with the outright win, there’s no need to bet the spread unless you are looking to hedge.

PASS.

Over/Under

The Jazz have played 7 consecutive games with totals higher than 220.

Two of their 4 meetings last season had totals above 220.

While the Clippers have only 3 such games in their last 10, 2 have come in the last 3 games.

BET OVER 220.5 (-110).

Jazz at Clippers and predictions

Prediction

Clippers 107, Jazz 101

Moneyline

This is a bit of a trap game for the Clippers as they’re firmly entrenched as the No. 4 seed in the West. I just don’t have it in me to take the plunge on Utah without Markkanen.

So I’m targeting Zubac here. The team is on a back-to-back, and they’re likely trying to build his confidence up as they’ll need him in the postseason. He has double-doubles in 3 straight and is averaging 16 PPG and 12.7 RPG during the stretch.

Take IVICA ZUBAC DOUBLE-DOUBLE (-120).

Against the spread

I like the Jazz here, and this is why: The Clippers are averaging just 107 PPG over the last 5. They won 4 of those! So this is really a question of whether Utah can score 97 to stay within range. They have done so in 10 straight – while losing all of them.

Take the JAZZ +12.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Clippers are 6-4 O/U in their last 10, and Utah is 4-6. The last matchup went Under 225.5 in December, and that’s more indicative of the Jazz, and that game had Leonard and Clarkson.

Take the UNDER 223.5 (-110).

Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Utah Jazz (45-30) face the Los Angeles Clippers (36-39) Tuesday. Tip-off is 10 p.m. ET at Crypto.com Arena. Below, we look at the Jazz vs. Clippers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Jazz have lost four games in a row as they wrap up a six-game road trip. Utah is coming off a 114-100 loss to the Dallas Mavericks that dropped them to fifth place in the Western Conference.

The Clippers have lost five in a row and eight of their last 10 games. Their last three have been by double digits. Los Angeles is currently in eighth place in the West.

It appears to be firmly in that spot as it trails the seventh-place Minnesota Timberwolves by 6.5 games and leads the ninth-place New Orleans Pelicans by four games with only seven contests left in the regular season.

Jazz at Clippers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Clippers 111, Jazz 107

Money line

This game is expected to be the return of F Paul George to the lineup for the Clippers, which changes things as the postseason approaches. The Jazz blew out the Clippers 121-92 in Utah March 18, before going out on the road and losing four of five games. They also beat the Clippers 124-103 at home Dec 15.

The Clippers are 20-16 at home this season but have lost three of their last four there, while the Jazz are 19-19 on the road and have lost six of their last seven away from home.

I LEAN CLIPPERS (-103).

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

Neither team has been a sure bet against the spread this season. The Jazz are 31-41-3 ATS overall this season and are 15-22-1 ATS on the road.

The Clippers are 36-39 ATS, matching their win-loss record, and are 16-20 ATS at home.

Both the Jazz and Clippers have covered the spread only three times in their last 10 games. Utah has failed to cover it in its last four games and Los Angeles has failed to do so in five consecutive outings.

However, I give the Clippers a slight edge with the potential return of George to the lineup.

I LEAN CLIPPERS +1.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The totals were 227 and 213 the first two times these teams met this season.

The Jazz have averaged only 101.0 points per game across their four-game skid — well below their season average of 113.3.

The Clippers have averaged only 103.2 points per game over their last 10 contests. That is a little below their season average of 106.7. Los Angeles should get a boost if George returns to action.

Take OVER 217.5 (-110) on this low projected total.

Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers Game 6 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers Game 6 odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The 1-seed Utah Jazz (2-3) try to keep their season alive when they meet the 4-seed Los Angeles Clippers (3-2) Friday for Game 6 of their Western Conference Semifinals series. Below, we analyze the Jazz-Clippers odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

L.A. shockingly took a series lead in Game 5 by beating Utah 119-111 despite losing their All-NBA leading scorer Kawhi Leonard with a sprained knee in the fourth quarter of Game 4.

Utah went crazy from behind the arc in the first half, sinking 17-of-30 threes but L.A. took the Jazz’s best punch and responded.

The Clippers’ other All-NBA-caliber star—Paul George—stepped up in an epic way with game-highs with 37 points (on 54.5% shooting), 16 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Jazz at Clippers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Clippers 112, Jazz 105

Money line (ML)

GIMME the CLIPPERS (+110) for 1.25 units to end this series in Game 6 since I haven’t been a believer in the Jazz’s title chances all year because of Utah’s reliance on making insanely difficult shots.

Furthermore, Clippers head coach Ty Lue made great adjustments in Game 5 to offset the loss of Kawhi and exploit Rudy Gobert‘s weakness in defending ballhandlers like Clippers PG Reggie Jackson.

L.A. is going with small ball rotations and either pulling Gobert away from the basket to open driving lanes or, if Gobert doesn’t go out to the 3-point line, making Utah pay by hitting threes.

Also, even if Mitchell wasn’t battling an ankle issue, I’d still make the argument the Clippers have the best player on the floor with PG and Conley’s questionable status significantly weakens Utah’s offense.

In order for the Jazz to win, they need to shoot incredibly well from deep because Utah’s offense consists of 3-point stepbacks since they haven’t been able to use their pick-and-roll action as much with Mitchell’s health being compromised and Conley missing the entire series thus far.

I could see an elite wing exploiting L.A. not having Kawhi out there on the floor but Utah doesn’t really have that.

Clippers guards Patrick BeverleyRajon Rondo, and, in crunch time, PG can force Mitchell into tough shots, while Gobert is not very useful on offense unless he’s a roll man for Mitchell or Conley.

If SG Jordan Clarkson and SF Joel Ingles fill this missing void or the Jazz get insanely hot from behind the arc then so be it, but I’m on the CLIPPERS (+110) to end this series in L.A.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS unless the Clippers +2 (-110) gets to +2.5 or higher, then I’d take the points with L.A.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the UNDER 219.5 (-110) for a half unit as a “contrarian play” against a betting market that is barreling into the Over at a 72% clip (according to Pregame.com).

Moreover, this Jazz-Clippers series has been very slow-paced at just 93.1 possessions per 48 minutes (for perspective, the New York Knicks had the slowest pace in the regular season at 95.9 possessions per 48 minutes).

Given the Jazz’s injuries in their backcourt, I’d assume Utah isn’t keen on getting into an uptempo game and the Clippers don’t have the guns to get into a shootout.

If Game 6 plays to the series average in pace then an off-shooting quarter puts the Over in jeopardy so I’ll take my chances with the UNDER 219.5 (-110).

Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers Game 3 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers Game 3 NBA Playoffs odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The 1-seed Utah Jazz and 4-seed Los Angeles Clippers play Game 3 of their Western Conference second-round series Saturday at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Jazz vs. Clippers odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Jazz scratched out a pair of home victories against the Clippers in Salt Lake City, averaging 114.5 PPG while allowing 110.0 PPG. They covered the number in each outing.

While the Clippers failed to cover both games in Salt Lake, and they also failed to cover both Game 1 and 2 against the Mavericks in the first round. They covered Game 3 in Dallas, and finished the final five games 4-1 ATS.

Jazz at Clippers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Clippers 116, Jazz 109

Money line (ML)

The CLIPPERS (-190) are a little more expensive than I prefer on the money line, as my usual limit is around -180, but sometimes you have to make exceptions. Los Angeles won and covered in a pressure-packed Game 7 in round one, and they’ll take this must-start game against Utah.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

CLIPPERS -4 (-115) is the way to go in Game 3. In the series against Dallas, they failed to cover the first two games before bouncing back in Game 3 for a win and cover. They covered in a 116-112 win against the Jazz in the most recent regular-season meeting at Staples on Feb. 19, and they’ll protect the home court in this one, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 223.5 (-110) is the lean, ever so slightly. The Over has connected in five of the past seven on the road for the Jazz, and most trends point to a higher scoring game for the visitors.

However, don’t get crazy. The Under is 7-2-1 in the past 10 at home for Los Angeles, and 17-7-1 in the past 25 games overall. The Over cashed in Game 2, however. Be careful, and play the Over lightly.

Jazz at Clippers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Jazz 121,  Clippers 114

Money line (ML)

The JAZZ (-185) continue to dominate the rest of the NBA as they have now won nine-straight games and 19 of their last 20 contests. They are an incredible 11-3 on the road this season and appear ready to take the next step as a team. Look for the Clippers to play better in this game than they did Wednesday night, but for the Utah Jazz to extend their winning streak to double-digits.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The JAZZ (-4.5, -105) is a little risky as the line has beefed up from 2.5 points this morning. Utah has covered in eight of their last nine road games and is 8-0 against the spread in their previous eight games. Add on the fact that they’ve covered in five of their last six games against the Clippers and it’s not hard to be on the Jazz side once again. Look for this game to be closer and likely come down to the last few possessions, but for Utah to ultimately cover.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 224.5 (-110) is the right play here as both teams have top-five offenses this season. While it’s uncertain who may be in or out for the Clippers, they just find ways to produce on offense. Both squads are averaging over 115 points per game to rank inside the top-four in three-point percentage. Each offense can win in so many different ways, and that is why the over feels like a good bet here.

Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Utah Jazz (23-5) stop by Staples Center Wednesday for a 10 p.m. ET tip-off against the Los Angeles Clippers (21-8). Below, we analyze the Jazz-Clippers NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Utah is running roughshod through its schedule. The Jazz have won eight in a row and 19 of their last 20 games, including a 134-123 win over the Philadelphia 76ers Monday. In addition to the impressive 19-1 record over their last 20 games, the Jazz covered the spread in 18 of those wins.

The Clippers are the second-best team in the NBA behind the Jazz by net rating. They’ve withstood injuries and absences of key players to win four straight and seven of the last 10 games.

The Jazz won their first meeting with the Clippers this season 106-100 as 3.5-point home underdogs on New Year’s Day. Utah is 3-1 straight up and ATS vs. LA since the beginning of last season and the start of LA’s Kawhi-PG era.

Jazz at Clippers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Clippers 115, Jazz 110

Money line (ML)

This goes without saying but wait until Leonard’s status is confirmed otherwise this handicap goes in the trash, but I’ll SPRINKLE on CLIPPERS (+140) for a tiny wager since backing L.A. to cover is the sharper play.

Kawhi’s career numbers against the Jazz aren’t gaudy but, his shooting percentages are .503/.405/.820, and he has a plus-20 net rating in 26 career games (23 starts) against Utah.

Board Man is poking his head in on the MVP conversation, averaging 26.7 points per game on .513/.389/.879 shooting with a plus-17 net rating. An outstanding performance in an upset over Utah would help his MVP case.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

I’m going to apply the same logic I did when accurately predicting the Jazz to beat the Clippers as home dogs Jan. 1.

Since the beginning of last season, the Clippers have been home underdogs just three times and they are 3-0 ATS with a plus-9.5 spread differential. L.A. has battled injuries recently and yet the Clippers are playing like a top-5 team regardless.

BET CLIPPERS +3.5 (-105) heavier than or instead of their money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS ON THE TOTAL because the market is barrelling into the Over, which has bookmakers moving the line north. Personally, BetMGM‘s projection is too high for my prediction but my read isn’t strong enough to actually wager on it.
