Blue-chip EDGE changes schedule to accommodate Florida official visit

The June calendar continues to fill up with blue-chip official visit.

June is rapidly approaching, which means the cusp of official visit season is near. Billy Napier and Co. have been filling up the schedule over the past month with visit dates from some of the top prep prospects in the nation but there is still room for more.

Four-star edge [autotag]Jaylen Harvey[/autotag] out of Gaithersburg (Maryland) Quince Orchard is slated to set foot on campus the second weekend of June — a change from his previous date set for June 2 — according to Swamp247’s Blake Alderman. The 6-foot-2-inch, 250-pound defender was offered by outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson in April, who also made the trek out to visit him at his high school this week.

The OV schedule adjustments were made with the Penn State Nittany Lions, who will now host him starting June 2. The rising high school senior is also set to visit the USC Trojans the weekend following his UF visit, and had previously been scheduled to visit the Ohio State Buckeyes to wrap up the month, but instead, will visit the Maryland Terrapins. The Miami Hurricanes are also under consideration.

Harvey is ranked No. 336 overall and No. 26 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 343 and 23, respectively. He holds two crystal ball predictions from 247Sports and also has an overwhelming lead in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 91.6% chance of landing him.

Penn State makes latest top school cut for four-star edge rusher in Class of 2024

One of Penn State’s top defensive targets in the Class of 2024 updated his top schools list

The final days and weeks of the Class of 2023 recruiting cycle before the early signing p[period opens are upon us, but the focus on the Class of 2024 is already underway, because recruiting never stops. As Penn State works to put the finishing touches on its Class of 2023 efforts, the Nittany Lions are also working on the Class of 2024 with hopes of continuing to bring in talent that can take Penn State to College Football Playoff contention.

Over the weekend, Penn State made the latest top schools cut for four-star edge rusher Jaylen Harvey of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Harvey announced his list of his top 11 schools as he continues his recruiting process, and Penn State is listed among a number of heavyweights to compete with including Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and future Big Ten member USC. Other schools listed in Harvey’s top 11 include Maryland, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Louisville, and Pitt.

Harvey is a three-star recruit according to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings, but he is a four-star player according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Harvey is rated as a four-star recruit by On3, Rivals, and ESPN, and he is a consensus top 10 player in the state of Maryland across the board.

At the moment, Penn State is considered the favorite to secure the commitment from Harvey. There are two 247 crystal ball picks on the board for Penn State and the On3 prediction machine gives the Nittany Lions a 97.6% chance of landing Harvey as a commit. Of course, these predictions can change at any moment, but considering the expert opinions weighing in already, it is clear Penn State is making a strong effort to woo Harvey to Happy Valley.

Harvey made a pair of unofficial visits to Penn State in October, following a prior unofficial visit in April that led to an official offer being extended by Penn State.

Penn State is currently holding the No. 13 Class of 2023 in the 247Sports composite team rankings as the early signing period approaches. Penn State currently has the No. 20 class in the 2024 recruiting cycle according to the 247Sports composite rankings this early in the process.
