Javon Franklin is staying in the state of Alabama
On Wednesday, the former Auburn forward announced that he will be transferring to South Alabama to play for Richie Riley and the Jaguars. He will join for Tigers teammate Tyrell Jones who announced his transfer to USA in December.
Franklin’s commitment continues an NCAA transfer portal hot streak for South Alabama, which has secured seven Division I transfers since December — four from the SEC. In addition to Franklin and Jones, the Jaguars have also landed guards Charles Manning (LSU), Jay Jay Chandler (Texas A&M) and Greg Parham (VMI) and forwards Diante Smith (TCU) and Lance Thomas (Memphis).
Jones, Manning, Chandler, Parham and Smith have already signed with South Alabama. Manning and Smith are already enrolled in school, along with Jones.
Franklin averaged 1.6 points and 1.3 rebounds in 23 games for Auburn in the 2020-21 season. He has two years of eligibility left.
