Recruiting Story

The first running back to commit to the class, Parker was a three-star to all services but has steadily risen up the rankings. He’s had a particularly impressive senior season and has an impressive offer list.

Readiness Level

Likely a year-two or three contributor due to the depth ahead of him.

Notes

  • Committed June 15, 2024
  • Plays at the same high school as WR Jacob Washington and Michigan coach Ron Bellamy

Scouting report

Via The Wolverine’s EJ Holland: (subscription required)

Parker has been a steady riser in the recruiting rankings this fall as he’s posted some monster numbers as a senior. Parker is an every down back who runs tough between the tackles and also excels as a pass catcher. He’s a taller back with an athletic frame but runs with plenty of power. The biggest question mark with Parker is his speed and explosiveness. Parker didn’t necessarily have a second gear on Friday night, and I can’t seem to find any verified times for him. Parker is ranked as a Top 200 back by two services and a three-star by two others. As I usually say, the answer is somewhere in the middle when rankings are all over the place. I have Parker graded as a Top 275-325 prospect, which is a notch ahead of his Industry ranking.

Michigan football gets commitment from rising 2025 running back

His offer list is insane! #GoBlue

Michigan football received its third commitment from the official visit weekends, and this one hasn’t even left campus.

2025 running back Jasper Parker apparently saw enough to make his decision while on campus for his official visit. Parker is an emerging player from Marrero (Louisiana) Archbishop Shaw, the same high school of current Wolverines wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy.

Rated highest by Rivals — the sole recruiting service that has him listed as a four-star — Parker was offered by the maize and blue in March. Still, the Wolverines did a good enough job that Parker not only visited, he committed on Saturday night, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Parker has an impressive offer list, despite being a three-star according to 247Sports, On3 and ESPN. Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee and USC had extended offers to the now-Michigan commit.

With Parker in the fold, Michigan has eight commits in the 2025 class.

This dude’s offers tells you he’s underrated! #GoBlue

Though most people look at star rankings to determine how good a prospect might be, it doesn’t always tell the entire story.

When a recruit is a three-star but has 20 offers, many from elite programs around the country, you can generally tell that he’s either being underscouted, or the recruiting services are missing something that coaches are not.

Such is the case for 2025 Marrero (La.) Archbishop Shaw three-star running back Jasper Parker. Listed by 247Sports as the No. 45 tailback in the country, he boasts offers from schools such as Alabama, Penn State, Auburn, Miami (Fla.), Oregon, Tennessee, and USC.

And on Thursday, he added Michigan football to the list.

The offer coming from Bellamy is smart, as the former Wolverines wide receiver, who coaches that position now, originally hails from the state of Louisiana — as does Parker.

Also a basketball player, Parker is listed at 6-feet, 200 pounds, and certainly already has the requisite size to play the running back role once he arrives at his eventual school of choice.
