Being in a ‘winning situation’ is key factor for 2024 five star UNC target

Being in a ‘winning situation’ will be a key deciding factor in the recruitment of one UNC basketball 2024 five-star target.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program continue to stand out for 2024 five-star prospect [autotag]Jason Asemota[/autotag].

The 6-foot-8, 190-pound wing is ranked No. 16 overall in the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He is also the No. 6 small forward and No. 2 player in the state of Arizona.

Some of the programs standing out for Asemota at the moment are North Carolina, Baylor and Oregon.

So, what’s the biggest factor that could decide Asemota’s recruitment? It’s winning and going to a winning program, he said in a recent interview with Circuit Scouting.

“UNC just made it to the National Championship last year and Baylor won the National Championship two years ago. Winning is what stands out to me. I want to be in a winning situation.”

Asemota has been very open about his desire in the UNC program and interest in getting on campus.

Last season, Asemota averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds per game as he helped lead Hillcrest to a 31-3 record.

He currently has one official visit scheduled to Baylor for Aug. 26.

Five-star prospect says UNC recruiting him hard

This five-star prospect says the UNC basketball program is among the teams recruiting him the hardest.

The pursuit for five-star small forward[autotag] Jason Asemota[/autotag] continues on for Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program. And it sounds like the Tar Heels are among the teams recruiting him the hardest.

The 2024 prospect recently did an exclusive interview with Circuit Scouting to talk about his recruitment, one in which he has a total of 22 offers. He’s drawing interest from UNC as well as other programs including Oregon, Arizona State, Memphis, Florida, Baylor, and Illinois among others. But which programs are standing out the most?

Asemota talked about that and it appears as if UNC is a team that is recruiting him the hardest at this stage of his recruitment:

Out of all the schools that are recruiting you, are there some schools that stick out and reach out to you more often?

Jason Asemota: “Yeah definitely, Baylor right now for sure they are one of the schools recruiting me there hardest. Oregon is up there too as well as North Carolina.”

Jason Asemota: North Carolina – “Coach Sean May is definitely on me about my shot making abilities. They love to shoot the ball at North Carolina. They really also like my rebounding and my defensive abilities.”

The 6-foot-8, 190-pound Asemota is ranked No. 16 overall, the No. 6 small forward and No. 2 player in the state of Arizona per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

He’s taking a visit to Baylor on August 26th and was on UNC’s campus back in June. He’s a prospect to watch moving forward in the 2024 class.

2024 five-star prospect wants to visit UNC

Despite no offer from the Tar Heels, 2024 five-star prospect Jason Asemota wants to visit the UNC basketball program.

The UNC basketball program has been tied to 2024 five-star prospect [autotag]Jason Asemota[/autotag] for a few months but have yet to officially offer the 6-foot-9 wing.

Despite the lack of an offer from the Tar Heels, Asemota has been open about the consistent communication between he and the UNC staff, and in turn the interest he has in the program.

Asemota had a previous visit scheduled for UNC but it had to get rescheduled due to a conflict. The Tar Heels are still one of three programs he’s hearing from most including Oregon and Baylor.

According to a report from On3.com, Asemota is eager to get to Chapel Hill for a visit.

Asemota is a versatile wing who has emerged as one of the most skilled perimeter players in the country. Rivals national analyst in Rob Cassidy touched on Asemota’s game and trajectory earlier this spring.

Asemota has long been a high-profile prospect with a bright future. There’s a reason he currently ranks No. 25 in the Rivals150, after all. After two live periods, however, it’s clear that 25 isn’t nearly high enough for the 6-foot-9 forward who plays the circuit with The Syndicate grassroots organization. Asemota has long had the build and the agility to impress college coaches, but he’s shooting the ball incredibly well from distance lately and is slowly becoming more aggressive when it comes to getting to the basket. He knocked down six three-pointers on his way to 36 points on 14-for-19 shooting in an EYBL game over the weekend and continues to make his case to move into striking distance of the top five.

UNC assistant coach Sean May was in attendance to see Asemota’s 36-point performance earlier this spring.

Asemota averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds per game last season as he helped lead Hillcrest to a 31-3 record.

With UNC now striving to have extreme versatility with its wings and a lot of combo forwards on the floor, Asemota should be someone to keep an eye on as his recruitment continues to develop.

2024 top-25 prospect says UNC among three prioritizing him

The Tar Heels are actively pursuing 2024 high end four-star Jason Asemota and should be receiving a visit in the ‘near future’.

With a few commitments already in the class of 2023, and holding the second best class in the country, [autotag]Hubert Davis[/autotag] and the UNC basketball program are starting to prioritize some key 2024 targets.

The Tar Heels have been tied to 2024 top-25 prospect [autotag]Jason Asemota[/autotag] for a few months, but over the weekend it was verbalized as Asemota named the three schools making him a priority.

According to Rivals national basketball analyst Travis Graf, Asemota listed the Tar Heels as one of the three.

Four-star 2024 prospect Jason Asemota told Rivals that the three main schools in the mix to land his services are Baylor, North Carolina and Oregon. He’s taken an unofficial to Baylor already and is looking to take visits to Oregon and North Carolina in the near future.

The 6-foot-9 and 207-pound wing is ranked No. 25 in the Rivals150 class of 2024 rankings.

Another Rivals national analyst in Rob Cassidy touched on Asemota’s game and trajectory earlier this spring.

Asemota has long been a high-profile prospect with a bright future. There’s a reason he currently ranks No. 25 in the Rivals150, after all. Last weekend during Session III of the Nike EYBL circuit he averaged 16.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

With UNC now striving to have extreme versatility with its wings and a lot of combo forwards on the floor, Asemota should be someone to keep an eye on as his recruitment continues to develop.

Tar Heels getting involved with 2024 5-star prospect

The UNC basketball program is starting to expand into the 2024 class as a new name has popped up on their recruiting board.

While the UNC basketball program is heavily involved with the class of 2023, one member of the 2024 class is starting to hear from the Tar Heels.

[autotag]Jason Asemota[/autotag] is a new name to the UNC basketball recruiting board and a prospect that the coaching staff was expecting to watch this past weekend during the first live evaluation period.

The 6-foot-8 small forward plays for Hillcrest (AZ) Prep and the Expressions Elite AAU Program on the Nike EYBL Circuit.

Duke, Kansas, Baylor, and Kentucky were some of the other notable programs that were expected to watch the five-star prospect.

Asemota is ranked No. 12 in the class of 2024 rankings for 247Sports and the No. 5 small forward.

He averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds per game as he helped lead Hillcrest to a 31-3 record this past season.

Asemota already holds numerous offers including Kansas, Oregon, Arizona State, Ohio State, Auburn, Florida, Illinois, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Memphis among others.

Asemota recently talked with Zagsblog.com to discuss what he’s looking for in a college.

“If the college is really into the basketball program and everything off the court,” Asemota said. “Education-wise, if basketball doesn’t work out, what I can really get out of the college that I go to. I just want a coach that believes in me as much as I believe in myself. That’s what I’m looking forward to in my upcoming visits.”

While he is no rush to make a decision, he is someone to potentially keep an eye on for North Carolina.
