Steve Kerr reacts to Jared Kushner’s ‘confused’ LeBron James critique

As always, Steve Kerr wasn’t afraid to speak his mind.

Along with Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has been one of the most outspoken critics of President Donald Trump and his administration.

Jared Kushner, the President’s son-in-law and Senior Advisor, was critical of LeBron James earlier this week after the NBA’s players held a historic strike which caused the temporary suspension of three days’ worth of playoff games.

Among other things, Kusher insinuated that NBA players shouldn’t complain about racism because they’re wealthy. He called LeBron James by name and the following day, suggested that he would connect with James personally after challenging NBA players to “fix” the problem they were complaining about.

On Friday, after two evenings of meetings and negotiations between the NBA’s players and the league itself, the NBPA and NBA issued a joint statement announcing that play would resume on Saturday.

In the release, the organizations announced an agreement that would further its commitment to social justice and curing voter suppression.

Moments thereafter, Kerr lashed out on Kushner on Twitter.

“NBA players, coaches, executives and owners are working so hard to try to meet racism head on and find ways to improve our country. Jared, your father in law spreads hatred and division daily. Spare us your confused lecture and try to teach the president to not be racist,” Kerr tweeted.

This is not the first time Kerr has sounded off on the President of members of his administration.

It probably won’t be the last, either.

In interviews today, Jared Kushner, a White House senior adviser and the president’s son-in-law, discounted the player strikes. “Look, I think that the NBA players are very fortunate that they have the financial position where they’re able to take a night off from work without having to have the consequences to themselves financially,” White House senior adviser Jared Kushner told CNBC. “So they have that luxury, which is great.”

Jared Kusher says he will ‘reach out’ to LeBron James about NBA walkout

The adviser and son-in-law of the president said on Thursday that NBA players have the ‘luxury’ to take a ‘night off from work.

It seems pretty likely that LeBron James won’t take his call, or that a call won’t happen at all, but White House senior adviser and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner took aim at James and the NBA on Thursday morning, while also saying that he plans to reach out to LeBron James to talk about “concrete solutions” to the issues which led to NBA players walking out of Wednesday’s scheduled games.

Kushner, who is also a personal friend of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, said he would “reach out to LeBron” before taking aim at NBA players for having the “luxury” to take a day off from work without losing their paycheck, something that has been in line with Republican rhetoric towards the NBA for quite some time now.

Players of the Milwaukee Bucks, who led yesterday’s player strike, were calling the Wisconsin Attorney General on Wednesday as they were seeking justice for the shooting of 29-year old Jacob Blake by police over the weekend. Later on that day, players of both the Lakers and Clippers voted to strike the rest of the season. Two more crucial meetings will happen separately on Thursday, with the NBA players having one meeting and the NBA’s owners having a Board of Governors meeting as well, which will go a long way in determining whether the playoffs continue.
