Watch: James Corden speaks out against European Super League in 2021

This is so strange to hear now.

Everyone and their father knows it by now: The Big Ten is expanding to 16 teams in 2024 with the addition of USC and UCLA. The path to that conference and the SEC becoming super-conferences has been cleared, and college football as we know it is about to change.

European soccer fans had this feeling only a year ago when the continent’s top teams announced plans to form a new Super League. The league was scrapped after taking widespread criticism from all parts of the soccer world. One person who spoke out was James Corden, who did so on his late-night TV show. While not everything he says mirrors what’s happening in college football right now, it’s eerie to hear some of these thoughts that easily could be applied to the current situation:

His concluding thought about the higher powers beating the love and joy out a sport he loves for money hits home. Money indeed is all these conferences and athletic directors are seeing, and that is leading to the complete upending of college football at the expense of everything besides money. If only respect for tradition was considered, which it clearly is not. What a shame.

Watch Tom Brady belt out a ‘Hamilton’ song while golfing with James Corden

Tom Brady is getting ready for The Match with the help of some show tunes.

While enjoying the offseason, reigning Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady has been preparing for “The Match” — a charity golf event July 6 when he’ll team up with Phil Mickelson and go up against Aaron Rodgers and Bryson DeChambeau.

A lot of Brady’s prep appears to be trolling his opponents with jokes, memes and cheesy videos.

But he’s also, obviously, playing golf, as well, including for a bit on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Corden’s best segments on his show are the “Carpool Karaoke” ones, where he and his guests sing together for often wildly entertaining performances. And his time on the course with Brady was no different — aside from them singing in a golf cart rather than in an actual car.

Brady revealed he’s a huge Hamilton fan and has seen the show live three times.

“Doesn’t everybody love it?” Brady asked before the duo broke out singing the opening number, Alexander Hamilton (just after the 10-minute mark).

Hamilton‘s opening number isn’t the most challenging to sing along to, but it’s certainly not the easiest. Brady and Corden flubbed the lyrics a few (noticeable) times, and the clip doesn’t include them singing the whole song, which is a bummer.

But bravo, nevertheless.

A ‘genuinely heartbroken’ James Corden slams European Super League in rant

“They just did it for money, and it’s disgusting.”

The announcement of the European Super League involving some of the most successful and wealthiest soccer teams breaking away and forming their own tournament (our Nate Scott explained it all for you in case you need a breakdown) has so many people up in arms, whether it’s players, on-air pundits or countless fans.

That includes Late Late Show host James Corden, who is a West Ham fan. Corden took over six minutes of his show on Monday night to deliver a rant in which he slammed the owners who made this move. He was emotional and passionate, and it feels like he summed it all up perfectly:

He ended it this way:

“I hope, as fans, that we remember the names of these owners. The owners of these teams that made this decision, how they hid behind a devastating pandemic as a reason to announce this while the season’s being played … Don’t ever forget that it was them, those owners. They took something so pure and so beautiful, and they beat the love and the joy out of it and they did it for money. They just did it for money, and it’s disgusting.”
