Could the Cincinnati Bengals go after another wideout in the 2021 NFL draft right after selecting Tee Higgins this year?
As premature as way-too-early 2021 mocks are, it sure is hard to ignore one that gives new Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow one of his best weapons –Ja’Marr Chase.
That’s the case in a new 2021 mock from The Draft Network’s Trevor Sikkema when the Bengals pick third: “I couldn’t resist reuniting one of the greatest quarterback-wide receiver connections in college football history.”
That draft order is subject to change, of course. But it sure isn’t hard to see Chase coming off the board so early.
A year ago, Chase was Burrow’s favorite target on his way to 1,700-plus yards with 20 touchdowns.
The Bengals could indeed end up dipping into the wideout well early again, too. A.J. Green (for now) enters 2020 on the franchise tag and this is John Ross’ last year under contract, pending the fifth-year option.
With only Boyd and Higgins surefire things moving forward, Chase might just be a name to keep in mind for 2021 as the Bengals do whatever it takes t to surround Burrow with talent.
