Going back through college football history, you won’t find too many offensive duos quite as formidable as the two-headed snake that was LSU wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase.
The former found his NFL landing spot last year when the Minnesota Vikings selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the No. 22 overall pick.
Now, Chase is largely considered to be the best wideout available in the upcoming draft, and many are projecting he will reunite with ex-LSU quarterback Joe Burrow with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Former NFL coach Jim Mora, who says he could see five LSU players taken within the first three rounds of the draft, is just one person who sees him landing in Ohio.

“I’m excited to see where Ja’Marr goes,” Mora said in a Sports Illustrated article. “I think the big thing with him is do the Bengals take him at No. 5 or do they Sewell. I know that’s a debate they’re having in Cincinnati. Do we get an offensive tackle that can play here for 15 years that protects Joe Burrow or do we take Chase and get a functional offensive linemen later in the draft? Every time he touches the ball he can go to the endzone. My gut feeling is they take Ja’Marr Chase at No. 5.”
It’s important to note that as Mora noted, it became glaringly obvious last year that Cincinnati needs to invest in protecting Burrow more. After all, a team’s success starts with the offensive line, and you can’t score points without an adequate one.
But we’ll see if a Burrow-Chase reunion is in the works when the draft begins on April 29.
