Jalil Bethea wins the Powerade slam dunk contest.

Jalil Bethea put on a clinic on Monday night, winning the Powerade Jam Fest Dunk Contest. The guard, who committed to Miami in September, showed off his highlight ability in the competition.

Bethea put on a show, with multiple dunks involving him jumping over a player. He was in a battle on the night with Ace Bailey, the Rutgers basketball commit who also had his own impressive dunks.

A five-star guard from Archbishop Wood (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Bethea will play on Tuesday night in the McDonald’s All-American Game. Bethea chose Miami over an offer list that also included Kansas and Villanova among others.

He was ranked the sixth-best recruit in the nation by ESPN.

He also showed lots of potential in practice during the week, showcasing his ability offensively.

 

As for Bailey, the top-ranked player in the nation according to USA TODAY High School Sports, he produced some very strong moments in the slam dunk contest.

Jalil Bethea showed why he is an elite guard with his performance on Wednesday.

This week, Miami basketball commit Jalil Bethea was named as part of the McDonald’s All-American Game. He celebrated with a performance on Wednesday night that was worthy of the honor.

Committed to Miami since September, Bethea chose the ACC program over offers that included Kansas and Villanova among others. He is the highest-ranked recruit in the 2024 class in Pennsylvania.

Bethea poured in 30 points for Archbishop Wood (Warminster, Pennsylvania) in a midweek 81-74 win over St. Joseph’s (Philadelphia). It was a consummate performance from Bethea, who is exciting in the open court and can knock down even contested shots from around the arc.

He is a five-star recruit in the 247Sports Composite and is ranked the sixth-best recruit in the nation.

Not a bad way to celebrate his inclusion in the prestigious all-star game. His performance, however, also underscored why he was named a McDonald’s All-American.

 

Bethea a true engine on the court, able to dictate the pace of play but also a dynamic, elite scorer who can put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways.

Alabama MBB offers 2024 4-Star SG Jalil Bethea

Bethea has been climbing up the recruiting rankings and Alabama is the latest program to offer him.

The Alabama coaching staff extended an offer to 2024 shooting guard Jalil Bethea on Tuesday.

Bethea plays for Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, Pennsylvania. Last season, the Vikings finished with a 19-9 record. Bethea was an intrical part of the program’s success a year ago.

At 6-foot-4, 170 pounds, Bethea could play either shooting guard or small forward at the next level. Alabama head coach Nate Oats uses his players in multiple positions. Bethea’s versatility could bode well in Oats’ system.

Bethea has a similar skillset to Alabama wing Rylan Griffen. The two are similar in stature and have similar styles of play.
