Texas A&M offers Middle Tennessee Transfer LB Jakobe Thomas

Texas A&M has reportedly fielded an offer to Middle Tennessee State LB Jakobe Thomas.

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko is hard at work in his quest to add production to the Aggies roster in the beginning stages of the offseason as a new era of Aggie Football is officially underway.

As of Sunday, Elko has already added his first commitment in the form of former Kansas State cornerback Will Lee III, one of the highest-rated defenders in the country during the 2023 regular season. With nearly a dozen-plus offers on the table at multiple positions, Elko and his staff now offered former Middle Tennessee linebacker Jakobe Thomas.

Thomas, who has two years of eligibility remaining, recorded 71 tackles, three tackles for loss, and five pass deflections during the 2023 season, joining Middle Tennessee teammate and defense lineman Marley Cook to receive offers from Texas A&M this month.

Even after the addition of cornerback Will Lee III, the secondary still needs several more additions after the recent transfer portal attrition. At the same time, the offensive line and wide receiver also need added depth. However, with the likely loss of All-American linebacker Edgerrin Cooper to the 2024 NFL Draft, adding a productive and experienced backer like Thomas to pair with linebacker ascending Aggies LB Taurean York, this group should be in solid shape heading into next season.
