Seahawks fans share reactions to another ugly win vs. Cardinals

Here’s how Seahawks fans are reacting to the game.

It’s never pretty when the Seahawks and the Cardinals meet up on the field. As long as Seattle comes out on top, we’ll take it. Today they took down Arizona at home by a score of 20-10. Along the way there was some awesome defensive play by Jordyn Brooks, Bobby Wagner and Devon Witherspoon.

On the other side of the ball we saw exciting flashes from both Jake Bobo and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. However, there was more frustration with offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and a worrisome number of poor decisions by Geno Smith. Here’s how Seahawks fans are reacting to the game.

Seahawk rookie Jake Bobo makes great TD catch

Jake Bobo is a special rookie for Seattle

The Seattle Seahawks have quite the find in undrafted rookie Jake Bobo.

The wideout, who played college ball at Duke and UCLA, is part of a strong receiving corps.

On Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, he showed again why he fits.

Geno Smith looked for Bobo, who made a great catch deep in the end zone.

The PAT gave Seattle a 14-10 lead in the second quarter.

First half highlights: Seahawks lead 14-10

First half highlights: Seahawks lead 14-10

It’s been a sloppy and bizarre first half for the Seattle Seahawks. But with the Arizona Cardinals in town, did we expect anything different? The Cardinals have always played the Seahawks tough in Seattle, and this trend is continuing, albeit with the Hawks shooting themselves in the foot a bit. Fortunately for the home team, they find themselves up 14-10 at the half.

Seattle started the game with a 28-yard touchdown strike to rookie receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who recorded his first career score.

Unfortunately, on the ensuing Cardinals possession, a punt from their 15-yard line resulted in retaining possession at the Seahawks 30-yard line thanks to a fumbled return from DeeJay Dallas.

The Cardinals were held to a field goal. On their next possession, Arizona drove the ball deep into Seattle territory, but Cards quarterback Josh Dobbs was intercepted by Devon Witherspoon in the end zone. Or so we thought. I’d love to share that highlight, but it was erased due to multiple penalties on both teams.

What resulted was a 1st and goal from the 25 for Arizona, which turned into this:

The Seahawks were able to retake the lead on the next drive, thanks to a remarkable touchdown grab from fan-favorite rookie receiver Jake Bobo. Initially called an incompletion, head coach Pete Carroll had his second successful challenge of the half and overturned the call.

The Seahawks will get the ball to start the third quarter.

Week 7 inactives: DK Metcalf ruled OUT

DK Metcalf will be a game-time decision for Seahawks today

Whether or not wide receiver DK Metcalf plays will be a game-time decision.

The Seattle Seahawks may have to face the Arizona Cardinals without their most-talented player later today. According to a report by Ian Rapoport at NFL Network, whether or not wide receiver DK Metcalf plays will be a game-time decision.

Metcalf is dealing with multiple injuries suffered over the first several games of the season. First, he took a shot to the ribs at the one-yard line against the Detroit Lions Week 2. DK has been playing through that one but last week he suffered a hip injury while making an amazing although just out of bounds catch against the Cincinnati Bengals.

If Metcalf is inactive, fans should expect a split between a few different contributors. Rookie receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the most-logical option to see a significant increase in his targets this week. Offensive coordinator Shane Waldron started integrating JSN more last week against Cincinnati but through five games he’s only totaled 16 catches, 110 yards and no touchdowns. That’s not the kind of production you want out of your first-round draft pick but it’s entirely on the play-caller. Waldron needs to use JSN more away from the line of scrimmage as he did last week, but double down and take advantage much more of the rookie’s skillset.

Elsewhere, Tyler Lockett and the trio of tight ends should continue to get their usual slices of the pie. Undrafted rookie Jake Bobo may also get some extra attention from Geno Smith.

The Seahawks have also elevated preseason standout Easop Winston Jr. from the practice squad for today’s game.

8 highlights from Seattle’s 4-point road loss to Cincinnati

8 highlights from Seattle’s road loss to Cincinnati

The Seattle Seahawks had a chance to take down one of the NFL’s heavyweights on the road today. While they didn’t get the job done against the Cincinnati Bengals, they nevertheless proved that they can hang with the big boys around the league. Despite today’s 17-13 loss, we feel encouraged about their future.

Let’s celebrate with some Seahawks highlights. Here are eight from today’s game.

Studs and Duds from Seahawks 37-27 win over Panthers

Who stood out from Seattle’s dominant victory?

The Seattle Seahawks keep up their winning ways, claiming a second straight victory. This time, the Carolina Panthers were their latest victim.

Seattle matched their point total from last week, 37, but under much different circumstances. Instead of a dramatic finish in overtime, the Seahawks had the game wrapped up well into the 4th quarter, giving fans a much-needed respite from wild finishes.

In a game like this, which was less competitive than 37-27 might suggest, there are going to be more Studs than Duds.

Seahawks signing another offensive tackle off Buccaneers practice squad

Now we have word Seattle is also signing another tackle off the Buccaneers’ practice squad.

It’s not a great sign for Charles Cross and Abe Lucas’ chances of playing against the Lions on Sunday that the Seahawks have now signed three new offensive tackles since their two starters were injured last week against the Rams. Yesterday, the team announced that they have re-signed Greg Eiland and added 41-year old veteran Jason Peters to their practice squad.

Now we have word Seattle is also signing another tackle off the Buccaneers’ practice squad. According to Greg Auman, the Seahawks are signing undrafted rookie Raiqwon O’Neal.

Like rookie wide receiver Jake Bobo, O’Neal (6-foot-4, 305 pounds) played his college ball at elsewhere and then transferred to play under Chip Kelly at UCLA last season. He started 13 games at left tackle.
