Could Notre Dame find the next Owusu-Koramoah in the transfer portal?

Might Notre Dame find star linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah’s replacement in the transfer portal?

With the season coming to an end and players making their decisions on what is next in their football lives, plenty of them have been figuring out what their next move is. Today, a report from 247Sports came out about former Florida State star safety Jaiden Lars-Woodbey and which schools he’s considering to transfer to.

The former freshman All-American was among a rash of players in the FSU program who opted out midseason and either declared for the draft or entered the transfer portal. The report by Greg Biggins said that Lars-Woodbey has narrowed down his choices to four schools: Boston College, Texas, Washington and Notre Dame.

Lars-Woodbey broke down to Biggins what each school had to offer and the Irish are squarely in the running. He said South Bend reminds him of his former high school and interestingly “they reached out right away and I’m trying to develop a good relationship with the coaches.”

With linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah most likely heading off the the NFL after this year concludes there would be a hold left at that postion. Lars-Woodbey is being sold on taking JOK spot over, “I think I could fit in well there. No. 6 (Owusu-Koramoah) is pretty special and he’ll be coming out after this season. I think that’s the spot where they like me so I see a natural fit. He’s a hybrid linebacker that’s the same size as me so I like how I fit in their defense.”

Defensive coordinator Clark Lea and defensive backs coach Terry Joseph have been leading the charge for Lars-Woodbey’s transfer to South Bend. He says he has yet to speak with Brian Kelly, but that should happen soon.

With a target date of around the Christmas holiday, Lars-Woodbey is in the final process before he makes his transfer destination known. He would like to arrive on campus and participate in bowl practices to prepare for next year. Lars-Woodbey would be a great holiday gift for Lea, Joseph and Kelly.
