Jaguars rookie quarterback Jake Luton has been given the nod to be the team’s Week 9 starter this Sunday against the Texans.
Head coach Doug Marrone informed the media of the move Monday afternoon as the Jags’ initial starter, Gardner Minshew II, is dealing with a significant right thumb injury.
With Luton starting, veteran Mike Glennon will remain the Jags No. 2 quarterback as Minshew recovers.
Like Minshew, the Jags drafted Luton in the sixth-round (No. 189 overall) of April’s draft out of Oregon State.
During his last season in the collegiate ranks, he was able to accumulate a 62% completion rate (222-of-358) for 2,714 yards and 28 touchdowns with just three interceptions

When the game went to commercial break, Westbrook was still on the ground after his return and the announcers informed the viewers that the replay revealed a gruesome injury that was too graphic to play over.
The broadcast then went on commercial again, and once the game came back on, Westbrook was seen being carted off the field.
Westbrook hasn’t been active much this season because of the Jags wanting to give their rookie receivers, Laviska Shenault Jr. and Collin Johnson, more playtime.

The trade is one that will send linebacker Kamalei Correa and Tennessee’s 2021 seventh-round pick to Jacksonville in exchange for the Jaguars’ 2021 sixth-round selection.
Correa, 26, was a second-round pick for the Ravens in 2016 out of Boise State but was traded to the Titans in 2018.
He’ll enter his Jags tenure with 77 tackles and 8.5 sacks and could be a player the Jags view as a defensive end in addition to a linebacker.
This move comes as the Jags recently had injuries at both linebacker and defensive end with starters Myles Jack and Josh Allen missing Sunday’s game against the Texans

Jaguars running back James Robinson has been named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Month for September.
In the Jags’ first three games, the undrafted phenom has managed to garner 330 total yards (210 rushing) and three touchdowns.
Robinson has put up historic figures since becoming the Jags’ RB1, becoming the only undrafted player in NFL history to accumulate at least 300 scrimmage yards and multiple TDs through three career games.
Robinson is the eighth Jaguar to become Rookie of the Month in team history. He also joined Fred Taylor as the only two running backs in team history to win the award
