Two UCLA commits transfer to same high school

High school transfer news!

Even before playing a single snap of college football, a pair of recent UCLA commits have entered the transfer portal.

Former Warren High School class of 2025 teammates, quarterback Madden Iamaleava, and wide receiver Jace Brown are on the move to Long Beach Poly, according to John W. Davis of the Press-Telegram (subscription required). The move comes after the two future UCLA Bruins did not play in Warren’s Week 1 opener and turning some heads in the high school football community.

Since becoming starters, Iamaleava and Brown have been attached at the hip, being a dynamic passing-game threat throughout their time at Warren. Now with the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits, the pair of four-star future Bruins look to continue their success on the field for a different program.

With both Iamaleava and Brown already committed to UCLA, their decision to transfer likely makes little to no impact on their future. But what is clear is that the two have a bond that will carry over to Westwood when they take the field in 2025 for the Bruins.

Pair of UCLA recruits potentially on the move in high school football

This is interesting…

Jace Brown and Madden Iamaleava are no longer on the roster of Warren High School. Both UCLA commits played for the school, and started the summer practices with them, but did not play in the Week 1 loss.

Warren High School, in Downey California features Brown, who is a 6’4, 200lbs receiver, who received interest from Arizona, Notre Dame, Colorado State, and many more. Brown committed to the Bruins following his June 21st visit to campus.

The school also was the home of quarterback Madden Iamaleava. The 6’3, 185 quarterback is a four-star recruit, who also was getting interest from Arizona, Auburn, California, and numerous other big programs in the country. He committed first, after his visit on May 17th.

There is no immediate word as to where to two are heading. Warren lost the game to Serra 36-0 on Friday. Warren was one of the favorites to win the CIF-SS title this season.

Notre Dame is trying to flip two 2025 wide receivers, both offered Thursday night

The Irish are looking to flip a pair of 2025 wide receivers

Unfortunately, some of Notre Dame football’s top 2025 wide receiver targets have opted to play at other places.

It hasn’t been all bad news. The Irish still have commitments from Elijah Burress and Jerome Bettis Jr. The need for a third is obvious, and on Thursday night, two new offers went out to committed prospects.

First it was California resident [autotag]Jace Brown[/autotag], a massive 6-foot, 4-inch 200-pound target. While he’s committed to UCLA, the Notre Dame offer could prompt him to reconsider his options. Brown is ranked 748th overall and 112th among wide receivers on the 247Sports composite.

Just a few hours later, Texas resident [autotag]Jalen Cooper[/autotag] received the good news. At 6 feet, 2 inches and 165 pounds, he’s ranked as the country’s 256th overall prospect by 247Sports. Just last month, Cooper committed to SMU. Unlike Brown, he had a very solid offer list before making his decision.

It’s clear the Irish believe they will need to flip a wide receiver prospect in the 2025 class to fill the open spot. Both would be solid additions to Notre Dame’s class, but they will have to make up ground late in the process.

UCLA commits Madden Iamaleava and Jace Brown listed as captains

Both Madden Iamaleava and Jace Brown are listed as captains for the upcoming season as Warren High gets ready to complete.

Great news for a pair of UCLA Bruins football commits, as both Madden Iamaleava and Jace Brown are listed as captains for the 2024 season. Both play at Warren High.

Iamaleava is a 6’3, 185lbs signal caller who was the 8th ranked recruit in the state of California and 114th player overall. He was recruited by numerous schools throughout the country. Following his visit on May 17th, he committed to Coach Foster and the Bruins. Iamaleava is a big-time dual-threat player, but his arm is his best strength. He has been noted to scouts as a very tough and competitive player.

Jace Brown was listed as an 88 ranking and 57th recruit in California. He visited on June 21 and shortly committed after. He also had numerous schools on his recruiting list. He is known for having good hands, and at 6’4, 200 quick and explosive for his body. Brown is a player many scouts target as a potential tight end.

Warren High School had their first scrimmage over the weekend. They are slated to start the season on August 23rd against Kamehameha Kapalama at home.

UCLA lands Madden Iamaleava’s teammate

Another get for UCLA.

The recruiting effort of head coach DeShaun Foster and his assistants has not slowed down. The UCLA Bruins football team got another commit on Thursday. Three-star recruit out of Downey California, Jace Brown has committed.

Brown made his first visit to UCLA back on June 21st. He had offers from other programs such as Fresno State, Kansas, Minnesota, and Nevada, among others.

The wide receiver has the potential to be a tight end in college. His big frame and strong hands match his strong ability to move quickly down the field. Last year, as a junior, he played in 13 games and caught 46 passes for 560 yards. He was able to catch six touchdowns as well.

Brown announced his commitment to the Bruins on July 4th via X:

Greg Biggins, a national recruiting analyst at 247sports had this to say about Brown:

Brown has had a strong off-season and established himself as one of the top receiver prospects in the West Region. He’s not only added size and grown to a solid 6-4, 200 pounds but is quicker and more explosive athletically as well. He had a solid junior season but has taken his game to another level this Spring. He shined at the Under Armour Next Camp in Los Angeles back in March where he looked very good in the drills and had a strong testing day as well.

This is the 15th commit for the Bruins for the 2025 class. Brown is the first wide receiver of the class, and is teammates with Bruins quarterback commit Madden Iamaleava.
