The final entry of the 2024 Daytona 500 has been filled. On Wednesday morning, NASCAR’s entry list was updated and revealed that [autotag]J.J. Yeley[/autotag] would drive the No. 44 car for [autotag]NY Racing Team[/autotag] at the Daytona 500 as the organization attempts to make the show. NY Racing Team must qualify for the event as they don’t have a charter.
Several people thought Greg Biffle would drive the entry as he did in the 2022 Daytona 500. However, Biffle released a statement saying he wouldn’t compete for NY Racing Team due to an unfulfilled contract. Now, NY Racing Team has gone with Yeley as its driver, who has driven for owner Johnathan Cohen in the past.
Yeley joins a group of open-entry drivers, including Jimmie Johnson, David Ragan, Kaz Grala, Anthony Alfredo, and B.J. McLeod. He has proven his ability to be a good superspeedway driver but will likely need to make the show during the qualifying duels. NY Racing Team doesn’t have the speed of the other teams; however, Yeley will give it his best shot.
