WWE Raw results 05/29/23: New women’s tag champs, Rollins and Styles join forces

See who emerged as the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions after a Fatal 4-Way on WWE Raw in Albany.

It’s been a tough few weeks for Raquel Rodriguez, but maybe that will change tonight on WWE Raw from Albany.

Not that Raquel has been losing too many races recently, mind you. As one half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Rodriguez hadn’t lost a tag team match since WrestleMania 39. Alas, when partner Liv Morgan was injured (during one of those victories), WWE stripped them of the titles.

Rodriguez got to be part of one of the four teams that competed for the championship tonight, but she needed a partner. Enter Shotzi, who has history with Raquel and figures to be someone who can capably fill in for Morgan even if not quite replace her.

Can they win (back) the titles? Perhaps, but a Fatal 4-Way is always a crap shoot, and the other three teams — Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville, and Bayley and IYO SKY — all figure to be serious contenders.

WWE hasn’t promoted anything else specifically for this show from Albany, but we know Money in the Bank qualifying matches are due to start. We’re expecting at least one apiece on the men’s and women’s sides.

And there will be fallout from Saturday’s Night of Champions show in Saudi Arabia, to be sure. Seth Rollins promised he’d be on hand, World Heavyweight Championship around his waist, for tonight’s Raw. It’s possible we might learn who will be first up to challenge him for the new big gold belt.

If Cody Rhodes is up for it after battling Brock Lesnar with an injured arm, he could be in the house as well. Can he pick himself back up again after experiencing another dose of adversity? And are things done between him and the Beast Incarnate?

WWE Raw results from Albany:

  • New World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins makes a memorable entrance through the crowd, and after repeating his intention to be a fighting champion, he’s joined by a congratulatory AJ Styles; their mutual show of respect is interrupted by The Judgment Day, and after exchanging insults, Rollins and Styles agree to take on any two of them tonight

  • Adam Pearce is on the phone trying to make the match approved, and both Rollins and Styles want it to happen
  • Ricochet def. The Miz by pinfall in a Money in the Bank qualifying match
  • Trish Stratus brags about doing exactly what she said she’d do in beating Becky Lynch, and she’s proud to introduce a superstar who reminds Trish of a young her, Zoey Stark; Lynch of course comes looking for both of them, which proves foolhardy as she is beaten down with a Z-360 from Stark and a big right hand from Stratus, then left crumpled in the corner with a “thank you Trish” shirt over her

  • Indus Sher def. local talent by pinfall
  • A video segment shows the Bloodline drama from Night of Champions once again, though apparently Roman Reigns’ 1000-day title reign celebration is still on for SmackDown
  • Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are feeling pretty good tonight after the “worst night of Roman Reign’s life,” but Imperium comes out to take exception to them representing Raw, and the “new and improved” Alpha Academy (with Maxxine Dupri now part of the team) makes the champs laugh by dissing Imperium

  • Imperium (Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser) def. Alpha Academy by pinfall with Owens and Zayn on guest commentary; also, Valhalla chases Dupri to the back
  • Raquel Rodriguez and Shotzi are asked if they’ve built up enough chemistry, a question that gets mocked by Bayley and IYO SKY before Raquel fires right back at Bayley
  • Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler def. Raquel Rodriguez and Shotzi, Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville and Damage CTRL (Bayley and IYO SKY) in a Fatal 4-Way match when Rousey made Shotzi tap out to an armbar to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions
  • Dolph Ziggler vs. JD McDonagh goes to a double countout, to the mild displeasure of the fans, with McDonagh continuing to assault Ziggler after the bell and stomping his head on top of the steel steps
  • Left arm still in a sling, Cody Rhodes takes the ring to say he hopes Brock Lesnar isn’t satisfied with their two matches being tied 1-1 and issues an open challenge for a third fight, any time, any place, finishing by saying Lesnar wasn’t “man enough to make me tap out”

  • Gunther tells Matt Riddle he wants him to win the Money in the Bank Ladder match and cash it in on the IC title just so he can have fun beating Riddle
  • Shinsuke Nakamura def. Bronson Reed by pinfall in a Money in the Bank qualifying match
  • Rhea Ripley tells Byron Saxton she destroyed Natalya at Night of Champions, and the Judgment Day won’t tell him which two members will face Rollins and Styles
  • A video package pays tribute to the men and women who have given their lives in defense of the U.S. to commemorate Memorial Day
  • AJ Styles and Seth Rollins def. Damian Priest and Finn Balor by pinfall

WWE Raw preview 05/29/23: Let’s qualify for Money in the Bank!

What’s on tap for WWE Raw from Albany? Money in the Bank qualifiers and a four-way women’s tag team title match, for starters.

If there’s a surefire sign of the neverending conveyer belt that is the WWE schedule, it’s the show after a premium live event where big things are already happening for the next PLE. That’s certainly the case for tonight’s episode of WWE Raw from Albany, New York, where along with fallout from Night of Champions, things will already be in motion for Money in the Bank.

Yes, that’s despite the fact that MITB is more than a month away, taking place on the next holiday weekend in the U.S. but also overseas in London. As has been the case in previous years, there will be qualifying matches to participate in both the men’s and women’s Money in the Bank Ladder matches, the first of which are taking place tonight.

There’s also a women’s tag team title match going down, and it’s big since four teams will be battling for the gold. Raquel Rodriguez is arguably the most motivated person in the bout, considering she and Liv Morgan held the titles until Liv’s injury forced them to be relinquished. Rodriguez has taken on Shotzi as her new partner, but they’ll have an uphill battle against Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville, and the Damage CTRL duo of Bayley and IYO SKY.

Plus, while the most interesting fallout from Night of Champions won’t hit until SmackDown (that’d be the Bloodline implosion), there’s going to be plenty to watch for on Raw as well. Seth Rollins will undoubtedly bring his big new shiny belt to the show, as he promised he would after defeating AJ Styles in Saudi Arabia — and maybe get his first challenger as well. And Cody Rhodes will attempt to scrape himself back up after a valiant but losing effort against Brock Lesnar in Jeddah.

It all plays out beginning at 8 p.m. ET on USA. Tune in then or join us back here on Wrestling Junkie for WWE Raw results and more as they happen.

WWE Backlash 2023: 5 takeaways from a hot night in San Juan

Backlash turned out to be one of WWE’s more fun and entertaining shows in recent memory

How do you follow up your biggest event of the year? With Bad Bunny.

That’s what WWE pulled off Saturday night, as they managed to get one of the famous people in the world to participate in a match, in his prime, in his native Puerto Rico.

With Bad Bunny on the show, WWE had to deliver with the rest of the card, and I think it did for one of the promotion’s more fun and entertaining shows in recent memory.

Here are my five immediate takeaways from the 2023 edition of Backlash.

What an atmosphere in San Juan

I think most fans were expecting a raucous atmosphere in San Juan for Backlash. WWE rarely runs premium live events there — the previous one was nearly two decades ago — and, of course, Bad Bunny.

The fans at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot did not disappoint.

Backlash produced some of the loudest pops I’ve heard in quite some time. The place was already roaring for Bad Bunny, but the pop for Carlito nearly blew the roof off the arena. Savio Vega got a long and sustained reaction. And we have to mention the reception Zelina Vega got before, during, and after her match against Rhea Ripley.

Vega’s moment was especially touching as she dedicated the match to her late father, who lost his life during the terrorist attacks in the United States on Sept. 11, 2001.

I think most people knew Vega wasn’t going to defeat Ripley, as the the champ had only just won the title last month, but this wasn’t really about that. This was about giving Vega her much-deserved flowers. She has come a long way: from Thea Trinidad in Impact Wrestling, to being released by WWE, to having a championship match in Puerto Rico. That’s really, really cool.

Bad Bunny is great for wrestling

WWE has used its share of celebrities over the years, but I am not sure any of those crossovers have had the level of success as Bad Bunny.

Bunny helped WWE sell out an entire arena just off of his name alone. He wasn’t even initially announced as a wrestler. He was just going to be the host and the tickets were flying.

On top of that, he can put on a damn good match. Yes, it takes two to tango, so we have to give kudos to Damian Priest, who definitely played his part and thrived. With that said though, Bad Bunny is honestly a revelation in the ring.

It’s not just Bad Bunny’s wrestling ability, which no, is not as technically sound as Bret Hart, but the guy’s got charisma and he understands what this professional wrestling stuff is all about. He knows how to tell a story.

I also still find it astounding the Bad Bunny is even wrestling. If I had his level of fame and wealth, I’d probably try my best to wrestle a match on pay-per-view. But I’m also a diehard wrestling fan. I’m not sure how many non-wrestling fans would share the same desire. The fact that Bad Bunny is doing this when he most definitely doesn’t have to speaks to just how big of a wrestling fan he is.

Bad Bunny should have closed the show

I mean, I thought this was obvious. Bad Bunny was literally the reason why the show was even in San Juan. Why wouldn’t he close the show? I understand why WWE didn’t have Bad Bunny main event WrestleMania back in 2021, because that would have been absurd.

But Backlash? I’m very much cool with that. Also, it’s Backlash in his homeland. Yes, let the most popular musician in the world close out the show.

I had those thoughts before the show. Then I watched Backlash and saw Bad Bunny and Priest tear the house down in a match that featured interference from the Judgement Day and the LWO, which on this night included Carlito (who looked great) and Savio Vega (also looked great).

Then after the match, I watched Bad Bunny celebrate in the ring with the LWO while holding up the Puerto Rican flag and receive a standing ovation.

That only confirmed what I thought coming in. Instead, for some reason WWE thought to put not one, but two more matches after Bad Bunny. Did Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar really have to finish out the night?

At Backlash?

With no title on the line?

I don’t think so.

Bad Bunny’s post-match celebration was a moment that will be talked about for years to come. Nothing that followed it was going to top it. No amount of blood leaking out of Lesnar’s head was going to surpass Bad Bunny being hoisted up on people’s shoulders while holding up the Puerto Rican flag in Puerto Rico. Ain’t no way.

So why do that to the talent? Why put them in a position to follow Bad Bunny of all people? You know follows Bad Bunny? No one! Literally no one in the world follows Bad Bunny on a night to night basis. He is the main event the majority of his life outside of wrestling, and for events much larger than the one he was at Saturday night. I think he could have been the main event of … Backlash.

As The Bloodline’s World Turns

If there’s one thing the Bloodline is going to do, it’s tell a compelling story during the group’s matches.

In the latest episode of the weekly television drama, Solo Sikoa got real close to going off on his brothers, specifically Jey Uso.

Jey Uso had things under control in the ring, but Sikoa put a halt to his brother’s momentum by tagging himself in. Jey Uso took offense to Sikoa’s decision and tagged himself right back in, which got a big pop from the fans and an angry stare from Sikoa.

At one point, Sikoa was going to walk over to Jey Uso and probably dish out the Samoan Spike, but he was interrupted by his opponents, of all people. Later in the match, Sikoa “unknowingly” grabbed Jey Uso around his neck. Once he realized it was his brother, he did not immediately let go.

Sikoa then won the match for his team while starring daggers at his brothers in another intriguing chapter in the Bloodline story.

Bianca Belair and IYO SKY put on a banger

While Bad Bunny should have closed the show, WWE made the right decision by having Bianca Belair and IYO SKY open it up.

It was a welcome sight after seeing some less-than-stellar storytelling in the women’s division, which is surprising given its depth of talent.

WWE Backlash 2023 results: IYO SKY dazzles but Bianca Belair retains her Raw title

Was IYO SKY able to soar to an upset victory and claim the Raw Women’s Championship from Bianca Belair?

As the announce team points out, IYO SKY comes to the ring without her Damage CTRL teammates. That might mean something … or nothing. Both IYO and Bianca Belair hear cheers as they are introduced.

A “let’s go IYO” chant breaks out as the two women lock up, but Belair is able to take her foe to the mat. SKY returns the favor, and now the crowd seems more behind the challenger than the champ, even as Bianca hits a dropkick.

Belair hits a pair of body slams to take the wind out of SKY’s sails. IYO wriggles to the ropes and slams the champ’s arm across the top rope, then uses Bianca’s own arms to choke her in the corner. SKY continues working on Belair’s left arm, which isn’t a bad idea.

SKY takes the champ to the mat but quickly is slammed back down in return. IYO fires forearm shots with Bianca’s arm trapped behind her, then drives that left arm into the turnbuckles.

Belair needs to compose herself, which she does by dodging a pair of corner charges. But she eats a stomp to the midsection after a reversal by SKY, who covers and gets a two count.

Forearm shots are traded in both directions before Belair counters a hurricanrana attempt into a backbreaker, selling her left arm damage after doing so. Bianca hits a dropkick and a stalling vertical suplex and seems to have her swagger back.

Now in the corner, Belair rains down right hands as the fans count along in Spanish. She hoists SKY into a military press and even switches to one arm before slamming SKY down and hitting her handspring moonsault for a near fall.

Belair is really fighting with one arm now, as SKY tomahawks the left arm down across the ropes again. A springboard missile dropkick finds the target, but it also forces the champ all the way to the floor.

After knocking the challenger off the top rope, Belair tries a 450 splash and catches nothing but knees. SKY locks in a crossface, yet Belair is able to power to her feet … only to fall victim to a facebuster. IYO covers but gets just two again.

A series of counters and escapes ends with Belair being hurled through the ropes to the floor again. SKY signals for her moonsault and hits it beautifully to the outside. She slides the chant back into the ring and covers for another two count.

SKY buries her shoulder into Belair’s midsection several times but ends up crashing out to the floor. She recovers quickly and tries for a top rope hurricanrana only to have Belair counter with a sitout powerbomb. Bianca covers and finds it’s still not enough.

SKY’s Damage CTRL teammates are now ringside, but just in time to see SKY narrowly miss winning the match again. Bayley gets too close to the action and is hauled in, where she has the ref distracted. Dakota Kai kicks Belair in the head, but Bayley has Belair’s braid.

The ref sees it and it delays SKY’s moonsault. That proves costly, as Belair rolls away from it and hits the KOD to retain the Raw Women’s Championship and become the longest reigning women’s champ of the modern era.

WWE Backlash 2023 results: Bad Bunny shines, Cody Rhodes sneaks out a W

Get live updates for Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest, Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar, and all the WWE Backlash matches from San Juan.

While WWE Backlash typically deals with the fallout from WrestleMania, the 2023 edition set to take place in San Juan, Puerto Rico seems more like it’s going to be the show that answers a bunch of pressing questions.

The two biggest men’s matches fall into that category. One sees Cody Rhodes facing off with Brock Lesnar after the Beast Incarnate attacked him several weeks ago. Can the American Nightmare pass this very stiff test and get back on the road to finishing his story?

The other is an aptly named San Juan Street Fight between music superstar Bad Bunny and Damian Priest. In this showdown between former friends, can Bad Bunny continue his string of impressive in-ring showings in his first solo match?

Both women’s championships will be on the line at Backlash as well. Neither Bianca Belair nor Rhea Ripley is expected to lose, but if that indeed turns out to be the case, what will happen to their championships — since both women were drafted to the “opposite” shows last week?

As has increasingly been the case as of late, there’s a big question about the Bloodline too. The Usos came up short in their attempt to regain the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship, and even worse, dedicated their effort to their Tribal Chief. As they team with Solo Sikoa to face Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Matt Riddle, are they all on the same page, and what will happen to Jey and Jimmy if they lose?

There should be answers to all of these questions before the night is over at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, and we’ll be bringing them all to you here at Wrestling Junkie.

WWE Backlash 2023 betting odds: Women’s champs heavy favorites in San Juan

Check out the latest WWE Backlash 2023 betting odds to see who people think will win in San Juan on May 6.

One of the stranger things that took place during the recent WWE Draft was Raw Women’s Champions Bianca Belair and SmackDown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley being sent to the opposite shows. That’s raised the possibility of a title swap, though one that might not be necessary if either loses Saturday night at Backlash — though the latest WWE Backlash betting odds show not many expect that to happen.

Belair and Ripley are heavy, heavy favorites over IYO SKY and Zelina Vega, respectively, Saturday night in San Juan. In fact Vega is currently +650 at Betfair, one of the bigger betting underdogs in a WWE title match in some time.

This is the place where we need to put our usual disclaimer: Betting on WWE matches seems silly to us since the outcomes are already known by some, and you’re wagering without that information. However, they are useful and fun barometers of what people believe will happen during upcoming matches, including those scheduled for Puerto Rico this weekend.

While none of the seven matches on the card is really a pick ’em, the closest one is the six-man tag team match pitting Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Matt Riddle against the Bloodline, with the heel group sitting at just +120.

Let’s take a look at all of the WWE Backlash betting lines, converted into U.S.-style odds.

WWE Backlash 2023: Date, start time, match card

We get you set for the first WWE premium live event in Puerto Rico in nearly 20 years.

When WrestleMania is in the rear view mirror, it can only be time for the Backlash.

It makes sense that WWE follows its biggest event of every calendar year with a show that deals with its repercussions, and even though the company has moved away from branding it that way directly in 2023 — the show was actually called WrestleMania Backlash the last few years — there’s no question that the fingerprints of the Show of Shows are on this event as usual.

What’s new and exciting for this year is the locale: San Juan, Puerto Rico, which hasn’t hosted a WWE premium live event in 18 years. Music superstar Bad Bunny, one of Puerto Rico’s favorite sons, had been advertised as the host of the event, but as you’ll see below, he’s since abandoned that position in favor of a more active role, to say the least.

The card will also be boosted by some returning talent. Matt Riddle has been back on TV after missing several months due to a reported suspension (and entering rehab), and got thrown right into the fire. He’ll join tag team champs/best buddies Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn to even the odds against the Bloodline side of The Usos and Solo Sikoa.

Speaking of the Bloodline, Roman Reigns looks to be sitting Backlash out, but that’s because he has someone else handling his top challenger. Cody Rhodes wanted a rematch for Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship but instead got ambushed by Brock Lesnar on Raw. Those two men will now do battle in San Juan in an encounter that could serve as the main event.

The crowd is almost guaranteed to be super hot after not hosting an event of this magnitude for so long. Here’s everything you need to know to prepare for Backlash.

WWE Backlash 2023

  • Date: May 6, 2023
  • Location: Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • Start time: 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT
  • How to watch: On Peacock in the U.S., and on WWE Network in the rest of the world
  • Matches announced: 7

WWE Backlash 2023: Here’s what the rumored card looks like 3 weeks out

No matches are official yet for WWE Backlash in Puerto Rico, but here are a few said to be taking shape.

After the long road to WrestleMania, it’s always kind of a shock when WWE Backlash, the next premium live event, comes up so suddenly. It’s like the ultimate proof that the show just keeps rolling on in WWE.

We’re now just about three weeks away from this year’s show, which will take place at the the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Locally it will be a huge deal as it’s the first WWE show on the island in more than a decade.

Adding to the big time feel will be the presence of Bad Bunny, one of the most popular recording artists in the world and a Puerto Rican native, as host of the event. It also looks increasingly possible that he’ll be on the card as well, which would be his first WWE match in more than a year.

We don’t know yet because to date there have been zero matches officially announced for Backlash. That should change quickly over the next week or so, but thanks to Dave Meltzer in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), there’s a good idea of what will eventually be promoted for the event.

Let’s take a quick spin through the rumored card.

Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes

This is almost certain to be the main event, with Cody Rhodes laying down the challenge this week on Raw. The question is whether Brock Lesnar will simply steamroll him, which is what some seem to think will happen as WWE plays up the adversity angle for Rhodes, or if he will bounce back from his WrestleMania disappointment.

Bad Bunny and Rey Mysterio vs. Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio

We had really hoped the storyline between Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio would have ended after their match at WrestleMania since, you know, that’s usually where long-running programs end. Alas, Dom went right back to calling Rey a deadbeat dad again, and here we are. Bad Bunny got involved in that match by preventing Dominik from using a steel chair, and Damian Priest has come to Dom’s aid. There’s an extra twist in that Priest was Bunny’s partner for his first ever WWE match, long before Damian joined The Judgment Day.

Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Matt Riddle vs. The Usos and Solo Sikoa

It’s possible that without the flight delays that forced a rewrite of this week’s Raw that this matchup would be even further along toward being finalized. Matt Riddle has immediately become an ally to the tag team champions against the Bloodline since his return, so this is a logical showdown for all involved. On top of that, it allows Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn to face The Usos again without having the tag team titles at stake so soon after their dramatic championship bout at WrestleMania.

Bianca Belair vs. IYO SKY – WWE Raw Women’s Championship match

IYO SKY won a triple threat match to earn a shot at this title, potentially sowing the seeds for a Damage CTRL breakup as Bayley gave up the spot for her and might have regrets about doing so. Meltzer says this could also be on Raw and not at Backlash, but it would be great to see SKY get a solo spotlight on a bigger card.

Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus

It’s more a matter of when rather than if Becky Lynch will get her chance for some payback after Trish Stratus first cost her the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship then attacked her from behind after the match. While their program could run all the way to SummerSlam, Meltzer suggests there could be an initial bout between them in San Juan.

WWE Raw results: Cody challenges Brock, KO fights on one leg but not alone

Live WWE Raw results for April 10, 2023 in Seattle, with Cody Rhodes addressing the fallout from his assault by Brock Lesnar last week.

Poor Cody Rhodes. All he wanted to do was to keep fighting those mean jerks in the Bloodline, and it seemed like he even had a strong new friend to help him do it last week on Raw.

Then Brock Lesnar viciously attacked him, proving that even though there was a happy go lucky Cowboy Brock under his mean jerk exterior, there was, in fact, another mean jerk underneath Cowboy Brock. Who knew?

Since Roman Reigns doesn’t seem inclined to give Rhodes the rematch he wants, Cody now has to probably do a program with Brock. The good news is that Lesnar doesn’t work every week. The bad news is that, well, when you get in the ring with Lesnar, you have to get in the ring with Lesnar. Suplex City and all that.

Anyway, the fallout from that attack is supposed to go down tonight in Seattle, whatever that turns out to be.

You may also be interested to know that there’s a tag team title match slated for this episode of Raw. Becky Lynch and Lita were two-thirds of a winning team at WrestleMania 39, but now they’ve got to settle in and start defending their championship. They’ll take the first stab at that tonight against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, who should at the very least compete against them in a straightforward and respectful manner.

Earlier today, WWE also promoted this episode as the in-ring return of Matt Riddle against The Miz, but that match is no longer mentioned in the preview on the company’s website, so we’re assuming it got scrapped for some reason.

That leaves a lot of time to fill with other stuff, so we’ll just have to wait and see what else is in store. Tune in to USA at 8 p.m. ET to watch, or pop back in here as we Wrestle Junkies keep you up to date with the latest WWE Raw results as they take place.

WWE Raw results in 90 seconds:

  • Rey Mysterio gets into another argument with Dominik, who declines a WrestleMania rematch in favor of watching Finn Balor battle his dad
  • Finn Balor def. Rey Mysterio by pinfall after a shot from a steel chain by Dominik
  • Cathy Kelley is talking to Alpha Academy backstage when the scene shifts to Lita, who has been attacked by someone
  • Video is played of Brock Lesnar’s attack on Cody Rhodes last week on Raw
  • Becky Lynch says she has her suspicions about who may have attacked Lita and will slap the head off them when she finds out for sure; she’s also drafting Trish Stratus to help defend the tag team titles tonight
  • Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez def. Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus by pinfall to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, and Stratus attacks Lynch after the match
  • Paul Heyman doesn’t want to talk about Lesnar, but would like to discuss Kevin Owens and how he’s in trouble against Solo Sikoa tonight with no allies or friends
  • Stratus refuses a question backstage from Byron Saxton about her actions
  • Bayley tells her Damage CTRL teammates that she told Adam Pearce they need to stick together in the WWE Draft, but Dakota Kai and IYO SKY want the opportunity for a title shot against Bianca Belair she’s trying to get for herself
  • Bobby Lashley vs. Bronson Reed ends in a double countout
  • Cody Rhodes addresses the Brock Lesnar situation by challenging him to a match at Backlash
  • The Usos def. Alpha Academy by pinfall
  • IYO SKY def. Michin and Piper Niven to earn a shot at Bianca Belair’s Raw Women’s Championship
  • Kevin Owens tells Saxton that even if it’s not wise to do it, he always leads with his emotions, and his heart says to beat the crap out of Solo Sikoa
  • Solo Sikoa def. Kevin Owens by the pinfall, though Sami Zayn and Matt Riddle arrive to help fight off Sikoa and The Usos after the bell

WrestleMania 39 results: Becky and the legends do damage to Damage CTRL

Who won when Becky Lynch, Lita and Trish Stratus took on Damage CTRL at WrestleMania 39? Get full match results here.

Damage CTRL makes its way to the ring as a unit, while the face team has a video intro that appears inspired by “Sin City.” There’s nothing subtle once all six women are in the ring, with a quick brawl that leads to Damage CTRL getting forced to the floor.

The match officially starts, with Becky Lynch going for a quick finisher but getting taken down by Damage CTRL teamwork. IYO SKY tries for an early pin, then another after a shotgun dropkick.

Lynch is trapped in the enemy corner and takes a three-woman neckbreaker, forcing her to kick out at two. Bayley takes over for her team, but is sent out to the floor right after Dakota Kai tags in. Becky leaps for a tag, but Bayley yanks Trish Stratus out of range for her hand.

Lita finally gets the tag she’s been yelling for, using a spinning headscissors to take down SKY. She pulls SKY’s head into the turnbuckle twice, pulling her head down into the mat for a two count.

After going up top, Lita is knocked down by Kai while the ref is distracted, and SKY covers for another near fall. A triple kick allows Bayley to cover, but it’s still not enough for a finish.

The fans boo as Damage CTRL continues to punish Lita while Bayley verbally berates her. Kai grabs a cover amidst the chaos, but it’s once again only good for two.

Finally, Lita pulls off a double DDT on Bayley and SKY, and Stratus tags in for the first time. She drops Kai with a Thesz Press and lays in a number of chops for good measure. A neckbreaker gives her a chance to cover, and Kai barely kicks out.

With both women on the top turnbuckle, Lita is shoved to the mat, and Trish’s teammates help elevate her to hurl Kai down with her legs onto the rest of Damage CTRL. Stratus’ ensuing spinebuster leads to another near fall.

Lita can’t quite elevate for Poetry in Motion, but Lynch’s legdrop still gets a near fall on Kai. Bayley battles back into the ring and dishes out kicks for everyone before tagging back in.

Lynch is in trouble until she counters a Rose Plant into a back suplex. Bayley gets right back at it for a Rose Plant, forcing a save from Lita. Signature moves follow in quick succession until Lynch rolls up Bayley for two. Almost everyone is on the floor now, so SKY moonsaults onto the whole crowd.

Things briefly calm down until all six women are in the ring brawling. Lita hits SKY with a Twist of Fate, and a Litasault right after that. Bayley is up on the turnbuckles with Lynch, but she’s the one taking the ride with an Avalanche Manhandle Slam. Becky covers and the three count arrives.
