No. 6 Virginia defeats No. 7 Tennessee in ITA National Indoor Championship.

No. 7 Tennessee is competing in the ITA Division I National Men’s Team Indoor Championship at Philip and Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center in New York, New York.

The Vols were defeated Saturday by No. 6 Virginia, 5-1, in the quarterfinals. Tennessee will next play Harvard on Sunday in a consolation match at 9 a.m. EST.

James McKie discusses Vols qualifying for ITA National Indoor Championship in New York

Tennessee associate head coach James McKie discusses the Vols qualifying for the ITA National Indoor Championship in New York.

No. 6 Tennessee (7-0) defeated Oklahoma (5-1), 4-1, in the ITA Kickoff Weekend Regional Championship match on Sunday at Goodfriend Tennis Center.

The Vols qualified for the ITA National Indoor Team Championships, taking place Feb. 16-19 at Philip & Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center in New York, New York.

Tennessee associate tennis head coach James McKie discussed the Vols qualifying for the ITA National Indoor Team Championships.

“One thing about this team is that we have nine players from nine different countries, and every year is different,” McKie said. “One thing I see this year is a group of guys that truly care about each other, and I see a legitimate team.

“Not only that, but I think as a coaching staff, we have the flexibility to put guys in different spots depending on how they feel and where we are as a program, and I think every guy has bought into playing their role and trusting the coaching staff based on the preparation that we’ve done as a staff and as a team, so I’m excited for what’s to come this spring.”

Vols advance to ITA National Indoor Championship for third consecutive season

Tennessee men’s tennis advances to the ITA National Indoor Championship for a third consecutive season.

Tennessee’s men’s tennis team defeated Oklahoma, 4-3, Saturday at Goodfriend Tennis Center.

The Vols advance to the ITA National Indoor Championship for a third consecutive season. The 2023 ITA Indoor Championships will take place Feb. 17-20 in Chicago, Illinois.
