Titans activate Isaiah Wilson, Greg Mabin from Reserve/COVID-19 list

Isaiah Wilson was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list for a second stint on September 6.

Tennessee Titans 2020 first-round pick and offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson, as well as practice squad defensive back Greg Mabin, have both been activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced on Saturday.

Wilson had the longest stint of any player on the list, as he was placed there on September 6, his second stint. Mabin had the second longest stint on the list after being put there on September 24.

With Wilson and Mabin now both off the list, the Titans have a total of 12 players on it, all of whom have been added since September 29.

It remains to be seen how far down in the pecking order Wilson will be upon his return. Right tackle Dennis Kelly is cemented in his status as the starter, and based on what we’ve seen and heard about Wilson’s performance during training camp, he’s probably not ready to be the main backup, either.

That job will likely go to swing tackle Ty Sambrailo, who has already played snaps at left tackle in Taylor Lewan’s absence. Sambrailo will almost certainly be the first man off the bench at both tackle spots.

During his stint on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, Wilson got himself into some legal trouble after being arrested for DUI. His original court date that was scheduled for October 7 has since been pushed back to February 2021, so he should be in the clear from any sort of punishment for the rest of the season.

Titans first-round pick Isaiah Wilson arrested for DUI

Tennessee Titans first-round guard Isaiah Wilson was arrested for a DUI on Friday evening.

On Friday evening in Davidson Country, Tennessee, Titans first-round guard Isaiah Wilson was arrested for a DUI. Buck Reising of A to Z Sports Nashville was the first with the report.

Wilson was arrested at 11:29 pm, booked at 12:44 am Saturday morning and bonded out at 1:28 am. Per source, Wilson blew a 0.107 and 0.113 at the time he was pulled over. The BAC limit in Tennessee is .08. This is the blood alcohol concentration level that lawmakers consider to be the tipping point between “safe” and “not safe” for the average person.

“We are aware of the situation,” the Titans said in a statement. “This is not conduct that is indicative of the character of our football team and we are working through details on how to proceed.”

Wilson has twice been placed on Tennessee’s COVID-19/Reserve list this preseason, and he was involved in an August 15 incident at Tennessee State University in which he attended an off-campus party that drew the attention of university police. According to a campus police incident report, Wilson was pondering jumping off a second-story balcony. Any gathering of 15 of more people would have violated NFL rules regarding players in large gatherings as teams try to ensure that their players are making safe choices in the age of COVID.

The Titans selected Wilson with the 29th overall pick in the 2020 draft out of Georgia in the hope that he can replace right tackle Jack Conklin, who signed a three-year, $42 million contract with the Browns in free agency. Wilson ranked 45th overall in Touchdown Wire’s top 50 draft prospects for 2020.
