Is Utah QB Isaac Wilson related to Denver Broncos QB Zach Wilson?

Isaac Wilson has had to step up as Utah football’s starting QB this season.

Utah quarterback Isaac Wilson has seen a bit more playing time than he probably expected during the 2024 college football season, filling in for the injury-plagued starter, Cam Rising.

Wilson has played several games as Utah’s starter, and so far this season, he’s thrown for more than 1,200 yards, plus 10 touchdowns. Utah isn’t the team it was expected to be this season without Rising, but Wilson is a decent backup passer.

His rise has led some fans to wonder: Is Utah’s Isaac Wilson related to Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson?

Yes! They’re brothers.

After playing for BYU, Zach Wilson is now in Denver after his first three NFL season were spent with the New York Jets.

Zach Wilson is 25 years old, while Isaac Wilson is a 19-year-old true freshman.

Isaac Wilson, the younger brother of Denver Broncos backup quarterback Zach Wilson, made the first start of his college football career on Saturday.

Wilson, a true freshman, helped the Utah Utes improve to 3-0 with a 38-21 victory over the Utah State Aggies (1-2). Wilson went 20-of-33 passing for 239 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.

Wilson got the start after Utes starting quarterback Cam Rising injured his hand against Baylor last week and was not available on Saturday. Rising, 25, missed all of last season with a knee injury and returned for a seventh year at Utah this fall.

Wilson, 18, was a four-star recruit out of Corner Canyon High School who committed to Utah last year. He totaled 4,469 yards and scored 45 touchdowns as a high school senior last fall.

Isaac’s older brother, Zach Wilson, was traded from the New York Jets to the Broncos this spring. The elder Wilson (25) is Denver’s third-string quarterback behind rookie Bo Nix and primary backup Jarrett Stidham.

Isaac Wilson, the little brother of New York Jets starting QB Zach Wilson, ended his HS career in dominating style

Isaac Wilson, the younger brother of New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, sparkled in the state championships.

Isaac Wilson answered a lot of critics over the past two weeks, with 993 yards of total offense to lead his team to a championship in Utah.

A four-star quarterback and a Utah commit, Wilson led Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah) on Friday night to a 41-27 win over Skyridge (Lehi, Utah). The state championship caps off a season where Wilson cemented himself as one of the top quarterback prospects in the nation.

ESPN ranks him as the No. 13 quarterback in the country and the second-best player in Utah.

The younger brother of New York Jets starting quarterback Zach Wilson, the performance from Isaac Wilson in the playoffs certainly has him knocking on the door to be the best quarterback in his family.

And since Zach Wilson doesn’t know anything about the playoffs, can’t exactly compare his performance against what his young brother has done over the past couple of games.

Just kidding. Coming into a difficult spot this season, Zach Wilson actually has the Jets (4-5) in playoff contention. It wouldn’t be a shock to see ‘Gang Green’ in the playoffs here this season.

The Jets could make some noise in the second half of the season and make a playoff push for sure.

Back to Isaac Wilson, his senior year was simply outstanding. He came into the final game of his high school career with 4,322 passing yards with 47 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Check out some of the plays that Isaac Wilson made to lead Corner Canyon to an impressive state title:

Isaac isn’t the biggest quarterback but he is highly accurate, has good pocket presence and poise and throws a nice ball. He has the requisite arm strength but it is his ability to accurately place the ball that is impressive.

Isaac Wilson, brother of Zach Wilson, to play college football at Utah

Another Wilson on the football radar.

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson’s brother is set to start making a name for himself at the highest level in college football and perhaps one day join his brother in the NFL.

Issac Wilson, a four-star quarterback out of Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah, committed to the University of Utah this week, joining the two-time defending Pac-12 champions.

Wilson also had offers from Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Miami and Oregon. Last season in high school, Wilson threw for 3,774 yards and 40 touchdowns along with 695 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns, helping lead Corner Canyon to an 11-3 record and a run to the 6A state title game in Utah.

The Utes have one more year with quarterback Cameron Rising. Wilson could compete for the starting job in 2024.

Corner Canyon QB Isaac Wilson stays in-state, commits to Utah

On Wednesday Wilson made the call, deciding to stay in-state and commit to the University of Utah.

Corner Canyon (Utah) four-star quarterback Isaac Wilson had offers from 19 different college football programs, including Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Louisville, Miami, Minnesota, Oregon, UCLA and Washington State.

On Wednesday Wilson made the call, deciding to stay in-state and commit to the University of Utah.

Wilson (6-foot-0, 190 pounds) is the younger brother of Zach Wilson, who played at BYU for three years and is currently a quarterback for the New York Jets. He had been their starter but will be backing up four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers this year following his trade from the Green Bay Packers.

For what it’s worth, Isaac has a higher rating than his brother did at this stage. Going by the composite rankings, Wilson is the second-best prospect overall in Utah and is No. 22 among quarterbacks in his class (2024).

In 14 games last season, Wilson led his team to an 11-3 record and posted 3,774 passing yards and 40 touchdowns plus another 695 yards and five scores as a rusher.

Utah has won the last two Pac-12 championships. However, their recruiting class of 2024 has just four hard commits including Wilson. This group ranks No. 48 in the nation. Wilson should have a chance to replace Cameron Rising as their starting QB after next season.

Isaac Wilson, brother of former BYU star, commits to Utah

The Holy War between BYU and Utah just saw another layer added to the historic rivalry.

The Holy War Rivalry between BYU and Utah just added another layer.

On Wednesday evening, four-star quarterback Isaac Wilson, the younger brother of former BYU star quarterback and first-round draft pick Zach Wilson committed to the Utah Utes.

Wilson is ranked as a four-star prospect by most of the recruiting industry but is highest ranked by Rivals which ranks him as the No. 13 quarterback in the country and the No. 239 player overall. He committed to the Utes over Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Oklahoma State, and UCLA.

Zach Wilson during his three years with BYU completed 566 of 837 pass attempts for 7,652 yards and 56 touchdowns. He would go on to be drafted second overall by the New York Jets in the 2021 NFL Draft.

In The Holy War, the two sides have met 101 times with Utah leading the series though by how much is still debated by both Utah and BYU. According to Utah, the Utes have gone 62-35-4 in their series history while BYU claims the Utes are only 59-32-4. Either way, the Utes have been dominant in this battle for the Beehive Boot. Winsipedia sides with the Cougars on this one.

From 1946 through 2013, the two programs met for 67 consecutive years. Over the last 10 matchups, the Utes are 9-1 and have largely dominated the series since 1993 which came on the heels of BYU winning 19 of 21 games from 1972 through 1992.

However, it remains a question if Wilson will get to face the Cougars at some point in his career. The series is currently on hiatus as Utah played Florida last season and is set to host the Gators this season. BYU is of course, also joining the Big 12 starting this fall which could muddy the waters when it comes to the Cougars being able to schedule the Utes.

National shakeup: Bishop Gorman crushes Corner Canyon in battle of powerhouse teams

High School Football: Bishop Gorman crushes Corner Canyon

In their first game of the season, Corner Canyon (Utah) rolled over Herriman (Utah) and quarterback Isaac Wilson threw for 450 yards and six touchdowns en route to an easy 45-7 victory. This past Friday, however, it was a different story for the Chargers as they faced a superior opponent.

Visiting national powerhouse Bishop Gorman (Nev.), the dynamic was flipped and they were dominated by a score of 42-7. This time around, Wilson only managed to complete 8 of 18 passes for 67 yards, one score and two interceptions.

On the other side, lefty junior quarterback Micah Alejado got off to a hot start, completing his first 11 passing attempts. In the end, he threw three touchdown passes and ran for another.

His last score was a 43-yard bomb to Dylan Herman in the middle of the third quarter.

Defensively, senior cornerback Elijah Palmer led the way for Bishop Gorman with a pick-six. The other pick came courtesy of Jeremiah Hughes.

Next up, Corner Canyon will visit Bingham (Utah), while Bishop Gorman hosts the top-ranked team in the country, Mater Dei (Calif.).

High School Football Highlights: Isaac Wilson’s off-platform touchdown pass 1 of 6

Wilson went 21/30 for 450 yards and six touchdown passes.

Some High School Football programs got a head start to the year, playing their first games of the 2022 season this past Friday night.

There are still a lot of great quarterbacks that have yet to make their debut. For now, one standout worth mentioning is Isaac Wilson from Corner Canyon (Utah) – who put up some video game numbers in the Chargers’ dominant 45-7 win over Herriman (Utah).

Wilson went 21/30 for 450 yards and six touchdown passes, including this off-platform beauty.

Wilson (5-foot-11, 166 pounds) is a four-star recruit from the class of 2024 that is as yet uncommitted. He has nine offers so far, including BYU, Arizona, Idaho State, Miami, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State and Weber State.

Wilson’s older brother Zach played his college ball at BYU and is now the starting quarterback for the New York Jets. Unfortunately, the elder Wilson suffered a knee injury in his team’s first preseason game and is expected to miss the next few weeks.

As for Isaac, next on the schedule for Corner Canyon is a road game against Bishop Gorman (N.V.) — another team that is no stranger to the USA TODAY Sports Super 25.
