Texas Tech at Iowa State: Three things to know

  1. The Red Raiders have posted a 7-2 SU mark across their past nine games overall, and one loss was an overtime setback against Oklahoma State, and the other was a one-point loss against Kansas. However, the Red Raiders do enter play on an 0-7 ATS slide.
  2. Iowa State is skidding lately, dropping each of its first four conference games, while winning just once in the past seven overall. Both of their wins this season have come against SWAC teams Jackson State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Under has connected in three of the past four, and they’re 3-1 ATS in the past four overall.
  3. Texas Tech’s defense has been tremendous this season, allowing just 57.5 PPG to rank sixth in the country. They’re also 22nd in the nation with a 38.5 defensive field-goal percentage allowed, with the opposition hitting 3-pointers at a 29.2 percent clip.

Texas Tech at Iowa State: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texas Tech 72, Iowa State 59

Money line (ML)

Texas Tech (-350) will cost you three and a half times your potential return. While they’re easily the better team here, there is just little reason to risk $3.50 for every $1 won. Look to the spread instead. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

TEXAS TECH -7.5 (-110) is the way to go despite the fact the Red Raiders haven’t covered in seven straight dating back to Dec. 6 against Grambling State.

The favorite has cashed in four of the past five in this series, and TTU is more than overdue to end their skid against the number. Plus, Iowa State +7.5 (-110) is just 1-5 ATS in the past six at home, and 5-16 ATS in their past 21 following a cover in their previous outing.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 134.5 (-110) is the lean, as the Red Raiders defense has been tremendous this season. They should give the struggling Cyclones fits, even on the home floor of Iowa State. The Cyclones have scored 65 or fewer points in four of the past five games, and they have hit the Under in three of the past four, too.

Iowa State at Kansas odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Iowa State Cyclones at Kansas Jayhawks sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Iowa State Cyclones (3-2, 3-1 Big 12) and Kansas Jayhawks (0-5, 0-4) meet at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kan., for a noon ET kickoff Saturday (on FS1). Below, we analyze the Iowa State-Kansas college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Cyclones are No. 22 in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Iowa State at Kansas: Betting odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 11:35 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Iowa State -3334 (bet $3,334 to win $100) | Kansas +1240 (bet $100 to win $1,240)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Iowa State -28.5 (-106) | Kansas +28.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under: 51.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Iowa State at Kansas: Three things to know

  1. The Cyclones are looking to bounce back after a narrow 24-21 setback at Oklahoma State last weekend, just missing a cover at +2.5. The Iowa State defense has been better of late, yielding just 19.5 PPG across the past two outings, both Under results.
  2. Things went from bad to worse for the winless Jayhawks last week. They were tuned up 55-14 by rivals Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., last week, and they have now failed to cover in each of their five outings, too. The Jayhawks scoring defense ranks 98th, coughing up 45.0 PPG, so it’s no surprise the Over is 4-0-1 in their five games.
  3. To make matters worse for Kansas, arguably its best player, RB Pooka Williams Jr., opted out of the season following a loss to West Virginia game on Oct. 17.

Iowa State at Kansas: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Iowa State 41, Kansas 10

Money line (ML)

PASS. It’s hard to envision a scenario where Kansas tops Iowa State, but laying more than 33 times your potential return is just silly, even if you were to toss I-State into a 10-team parlay. It’s just not worth the risk.

Against the spread (ATS)

IOWA STATE (-28.5, -106) is the play here, as it’s just hard to put good money on lowly Kansas (+28.5, -115). The book tries to tempt you with that hook on a 28, but it’s just not worth it. KU is bad, and showing no signs of turning things around. Even the great Les Miles can’t fix this mess.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 51.5 (-110) is the play, although the giving defense of the Jayhawks will make you sweat all night. Iowa State’s pass attack has the potential to take care of this Over all by itself if it’s clicking early. Still, Kansas won’t give you much to sweat about, and eventually the ‘Clones will call off the dogs once it gets out of hand.

The Cowboys are ranked sixth and the Cyclones are 18th in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Iowa State at Oklahoma State: Betting odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday at 3:51 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Iowa State +135 (bet $100 to win $135) | Oklahoma State -162 (bet $162 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Iowa State +3.5 (-115) | Oklahoma State -3.5 (-106)
  • Over/Under: 52 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Iowa State at Oklahoma State: Three things to know

  1. After an opening 31-14 loss at home against Louisiana, the Cyclones have rattled off three consecutive victories inside the Big 12 and they’re flying high. The streak includes a 37-30 win over visiting Oklahoma on Oct. 3. Iowa State has covered two in a row, and is averaging 31.7 PPG across its three conference outings.
  2. The Cowboys routed Kansas 47-7 last time out, as the offense finally got started after a couple of sluggish outings to start. The run game is still doing its job, posting 212.3 rushing yards per game to check in 16th.
  3. Defensively, Oklahoma State has been on point, allowing just 274.7 total yards per game (7th in the nation), while allowing only 181.0 passing yards (13th), 93.7 rushing yards (10th) and 9.0 points (2nd) per game.

Iowa State at Oklahoma State: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Oklahoma State 31, Iowa State 28

Money line (ML)

OKLAHOMA STATE (-162) is a decent play at home on the money line, although you’ll have to eat a moderate amount of chalk. But it’s a decent bet on a spread line of three and a hook, especially since Iowa State (+135) has a history of keeping it close against the Cowboys.

Against the spread (ATS)

IOWA STATE +3.5 (-115) is worth playing, especially with the hook, as it has the rush defense (100.8 yards per game) to at least keep Oklahoma State RB Chuba Hubbard’s production reasonable. If the Cyclones can force the Cowboys to pass, ISU could win this game outright. Iowa State has cashed in four of the past five in this series, and the underdog has covered five in a row.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 52 (-110) is the play in this Big 12 showdown, and the Over has connected in four of the previous five in this series. Iowa State has a solid passing attack, and Oklahoma State finally got on track last time out, albeit against perennial doormat Kansas. This won’t be end-to-end action, but it will inch Over in the fourth quarter.
