The Aggies are a couple of days removed from their Week 9 31-28 loss to Ole Miss in their return to Kyle Field, and even though this is now their fifth loss and fourth in a row, things may finally be looking up for one of the most adversity plagued seasons in Texas A&M history, mainly due to freshman quarterback Conner Weigman’s record-setting performance in his first career start.
On Monday, head coach Jimbo Fisher spoke to the local media during his annual press conference while reflecting on the close loss to the Rebels, looking towards this weekend’s matchup with the Florida Gators, and answering questions regarding the current injury report after Saturday’s game.
Towards the middle of the presser, Fisher gave some intriguing updates involving defensive back Antonio Johnson, and linebacker Edgerrin Cooper’s health status after Johnson missed Saturday’s game, stating that both are listed as “day to day” at the start of the week, while Cooper should be back to total health by the Florida game after playing on a limited snap account against Ole Miss.
Also, after quarterback Conner Weigman took a late hit to the face mask in the fourth quarter against the Rebels, Fisher noted that he would participate in practice during Monday’s portion, noting zero lingering effects.
on a non-injury-related note, the suspension status for the four freshmen who missed Saturday’s game including wide receiver Chris Marshall, cornerback Denver Harris, offensive lineman PJ Williams, and defensive lineman Anthony Lucas will remain this weekend against Florida.
