Pacers at Hornets picks and predictions

Prediction

Hornets 116, Pacers 110

Moneyline

Give me the HORNETS (-140) at home to take down the Pacers. With G LaMelo Ball back in the lineup for Charlotte, I believe the Hornets should take care of business in front of their home crowd.

Against the spread

HORNETS -2.5 (-112) is an enticing wager as all we need for Charlotte to cover the spread is for the Hornets to win by at least one 3-pointer. There’s a chance that Haliburton is sidelined for Indiana, which could move the spread even more in Charlotte’s favor.

The Pacers are 3-12 ATS in the last 15 road meetings against the Hornets and they are 0-6 ATS in the last 6 meetings overall.

Over/Under

As much as I want to take the Over in this game, UNDER 233.5 (-115) is the side I’ll be taking. If Haliburton misses or is limited Wednesday, then the Pacers could be without their top scorer and playmaker.

The Under is 5-0-1 in the last 6 games where the Hornets have faced a team with a losing road record.

Indiana Pacers at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Indiana Pacers at Charlotte Hornets NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Charlotte Hornets (7-11) host the Indiana Pacers (11-7) Friday at the Spectrum Center for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Pacers-Hornets NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Indiana took down Charlotte 116-106 as 3-point road favorites Wednesday. The ball whipped around the court for the Pacers, throwing 34 assists as a team, which led to a 51.1%-shooting performance (40% from three). Indiana is 3-2 overall and 2-3 against the spread in its previous five games.

The Hornets have lost two in a row and six of their last seven games (3-4 ATS). In the midst of this stretch was a six-day break for Charlotte because of COVID-19 issues. Over their previous seven games, the Hornets had the 25th-ranked effective field goal percentage and the 24th-ranked opponent’s eFG%.

Indiana’s dominance over Charlotte continues as the Pacers have now won four straight and six of the past seven Pacers-Hornets meetings (6-1 ATS).

Pacers at Hornets: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 114, Hornets 102

Money line (ML)

PASS with a slight lean on putting Indiana’s money line in with another team’s on a parlay (if that’s your sort of thing). Otherwise, a Pacers straight-up win is too expensive for me.

Against the spread (ATS)

Granted, it’s regular-season NBA action but, I don’t see how this game is much different. Pacers PF Domantas Sabonis was questionable entering the game but, notched a triple-double with 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting with 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Sabonis’ advanced stats vs. the Hornets are nuts: 131 offensive rating, 105 defensive rating and 65.8% true shooting. Also, Indiana won comfortably Wednesday despite SG Jeremy Lamb putting up a clunker in his first start of the season (three points on 1-of-6 shooting).

Furthermore, as I stated in Wednesday’s Pacers-Hornets handicap, Charlotte’s offense revolves around SF Gordon Hayward, and Indiana is good at defending what Hayward wants to do (midrange shots). I wouldn’t bet this heavy because the outcomes in the second game of these miniseries have been random.

TAKE HORNETS -3.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

I whiffed on Wednesday’s Pacers-Hornets total of 219.5 (222 closing total), and the game went Under. The market is barreling into the Over, which is causing me to stay away. I lean Under 221.5 (-110) but officially PASS.

Indiana Pacers at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Indiana Pacers at Charlotte Hornets NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Charlotte Hornets (7-10) host the Indiana Pacers (10-7) Wednesday at Spectrum Center for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Pacers-Hornets NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Indiana split a back-to-back with the Toronto Raptors, winning the second meeting 129-114 as a 2.5-point home favorite Monday. The Pacers have dealt with a mix of injury issues and roster turnover in recent weeks, which explains their 3-3 overall and 2-4 against the spread records over the past six games.

The Hornets also chopped their two-game set with the division rival Orlando Magic coming into Wednesday. They lost the second game 117-108 as 1-point underdogs Monday. Charlotte has won just one of its last six games but is 3-3 ATS in the last two weeks.

Hornets SF Gordon Hayward is having his best season in years but aside from an occasional breakout game from PG Terry Rozier, Hayward isn’t getting much help from his teammates.

Hayward is averaging 24.1 points per game on a career-high 58.3% effective field goal percentage but the Hornets are 21st in eFG% as a team (52.1%) and Charlotte’s bench is 25th in points per game.

The Pacers have dominated the Hornets in their recent history by winning and covering the spread in five of their last six meetings.

Pacers at Hornets: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 113, Hornets 104

Money line (ML)

If Sabonis cannot play then I like the Pacers a lot less but if he does, then Indiana will feature the best defensive frontcourt in the Association.

Pacers C Myles Turner leads the NBA in blocks per game, plus he and Sabonis are both in the top-20 of the league in defensive win shares.

Charlotte is 22nd in offensive rating and is way too Hayward-centric for a defense as tenacious as Indiana’s. Also, Hayward likes to operate in the mid-range; however, Indiana is third in opponent’s mid-range shooting percentage, according to CleaningTheGlass.com. With Turner and Sabonis locking down the paint, that’ll give the Pacers defense more bandwidth to focus on Hayward.

Also, don’t sleep on the importance of Indiana SG Jeremy Lamb returning to the lineup. Lamb is playing the best basketball of his career coming off injury and gives the Pacers another guy who can create his own shot off the dribble.

TAKE PACERS (-135) for 1 unit (pending Sabonis’ availability).

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS ON THE SPREAD.

Over/Under (O/U)

It’s only a lean but I’d SPRINKLE a tiny wager on UNDER 219.5 (-110). Both teams are above-average in defensive rating, play at a below-average pace and have a below-average 3-point attempt rate.
