Sports betting in Nevada

Nevada is the original state for sports betting, as it was legalized in 1949. After the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) of 1992 was passed, the Silver State was grandfathered in to prohibit future state expansion of gambling on sports. Nevada was the only state that offered sports betting until 2018 when the Supreme Court ruled PASPA unconstitutional, opening the door for more states to pursue legalization in the future.

Is sports betting legal in Missouri? We look at the latest information.

No, sports betting in Missouri is not legal at this time.

Sports betting in Missouri

As of April 14, six Missouri sports betting bills were filed in 2020, and the Show-Me State appeared to be on a fast track toward approval until concerns of the legislature pivoted to coronavirus issues.

Missouri does have existing casinos, and the state had been on track toward likely sports wagering at some of those casinos as well as with online platforms. Peripheral details need to be hammered out, but Missouri appears to be further down the line than most states with pending legislation. Becoming legal seems more likely in 2021.

South Dakota sports betting: Is sports betting legal in South Dakota?

Is sports betting legal in South Dakota? We look at the latest information.

No, sports betting in South Dakota is not legal at this time.

Sports betting in South Dakota

There were several failed attempts to bring sports betting to the ballot in 2019; however, legislators presented SJR501 Feb. 12, 2020, as state-regulated sports betting is again up for debate. The citizens of The Mount Rushmore State will vote on whether or not they want sports betting in November. If the voters pass sports betting by a simple majority, the next step would be rules set by the 2021 state legislature and the governor’s office. Based on that timetable, the earliest we would see sports betting would be July 1, 2021, if voters want it.
