Earlier in the week, the University of Nebraska unveiled its new football facility to its athletes. The Go Big Project is a $165 million construction project that will create a state-of-the-art 315,000-square-foot facility.
The Football Performance Center will hold a cutting-edge Athletic Medicine Area, Strength Complex, Equipment Room, Locker Room, Football Offices, Meeting Spaces, and room for future expansion.
Athletic Director Trev Alberts told the Husker Radio Network that he was thrilled to see that reaction of the Husker athletes.
I live for those smiles on the young men’s and young women’s faces. That’s why we do what we do. We’re here to change their experience and to give them resources to grow as an athlete and as a student. So, I want to thank our donors.
Alberts also said that he hopes the facility will open for all Husker athletes soon.
Really wanted to do it in a way that wasn’t disruptive for football. We were able to get that done, and now we’ll keep working on this. I’m really hoping that by the end of the calendar year, we’ll have it open for all the student-athletes. The training table, the athletic medicine, the academic support, and all that kind of stuff.
