The Washington Wizards (3-21) welcome the Charlotte Hornets (7-19) to Capital One Arena Thursday. Tip is set for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Hornets vs. Wizards odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting, tied 2-2 last season

The Wizards lost to the Boston Celtics 112-98 Sunday, closing as a 17-point home underdog. G Jordan Poole scored a team-high 21 points. Washington has lost 3 straight and is just 1-19 after its 2-2 start to the season. It is, however, 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last 4 games and 8-15-1 ATS on the season.

The Hornets lost to the Philadelphia 76ers 121-108 Monday evening, closing as a 2.5-point home underdog. They were led by F Miles Bridges, who scored 24 points. Charlotte has lost 2 in a row and 10 of its last 11 games. It is 5-6 ATS in those and 14-12 ATS on the season.

Hornets at Wizards picks and predictions

Prediction

Hornets 116, Wizards 113

Moneyline

PASS.

The Hornets are the better team, but Washington is at home. Considering the odds here, one should avoid a play and look to the spread for value.

Against the spread

BET WIZARDS +3.5 (-110).

The Wizards haven’t won often this season, but they have been able to cover over the last few weeks. They are 2-1 ATS at home in their last 3 contests at Capital One and have scored at least 112 points in 2 of their last 4 games.

Charlotte has played 3 of its last 5 games on the road and is 1-2 ATS in those and 1-5 ATS in its last 6 outings. The Hornets have scored 104 or fewer points in 8 of their last 10 games, so they haven’t been able to keep pace due to their poor shooting.

Expect Washington to keep things close and back WIZARDS +3.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET OVER 223.5 (-115).

While both offenses have consistently struggled this season, neither defense is good, and the home side likes to play at a torrid pace. Both teams sit in the bottom 12 in the league in defensive rating.

Washington ranks fourth in the NBA in pace and is 3-3-1 O/U in its last 7 games, allowing at least 112 points in every game since Nov. 24 (10 contests). The Hornets have allowed at least 109 points in 6 straight games and are 4-2 O/U in their last 6.

Back OVER 223.5 (-115).

Charlotte Hornets at Washington Wizards odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Charlotte Hornets at Washington Wizards odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Charlotte Hornets (15-47) and Washington Wizards (9-53) meet Friday as tip-off from Capital One Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Hornets vs. Wizards odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Charlotte leads 2-1, winning the last 2 meetings

Charlotte lost 101-89 to the Orlando Magic Tuesday, failing to cover as an 8.5-point home underdog. Due to injuries, the Hornets only played 8 players in the loss and 4 of them scored in double figures, led by G Vasilije Micic’s 21 points. Charlotte turned the ball over 19 times and lost the rebounding battle 41-31. The Hornets are 0-5 in their last 5 games.

Washington is spiraling and enters on a 16-game skid. The Wizards also recently lost to the Magic, falling at home 119-109 Wednesday as 7-point underdogs. Each of the Wizards’ 5 starters finished with a negative +/- and their leading scorer was G Jordan Poole (26 points) off the bench.

Hornets at Wizards picks and predictions

Prediction

Wizards 113, Hornets 109

Moneyline

LEAN WIZARDS (-148).

Charlotte is a very injured team. The multitude of injuries means that guys who normally don’t play are now starters, and that won’t be enough to beat the Wizards.

This is Washington’s best shot to end its current losing skid. The Wizards are 3-1 in its last 4 home games vs. the Hornets.

Expect the Wizards to capitalize, but this is a risky bet. Washington is cold and recent matchups between these squads have been even as they’ve split the last 10 meetings at 5-5.

Against the spread

PASS.

I like the Wizards to pick up the win and cover as 3-point favorites, but they have failed to cover in their last 3 games and are 28-32-2 ATS this season. That’s why I prefer the Washington moneyline.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 226 (-108).

The Under has hit in back-to-back games for the Hornets and is 9-2 in their last 11 games.

For Washington, the Under is 9-2 in its last 11 home games, including 4-1 in the last 5 at home. The Under also hit in the last Charlotte-Washington matchup and is 2-1 in the last 3 head-to-head meetings in Washington.

Be aware though that the Over is 7-3 in Washington’s last 10 games overall.

Charlotte Hornets at Washington Wizards odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Charlotte Hornets at Washington Wizards and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Charlotte Hornets (19-18) head to the nation’s capital Monday for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off against the Washington Wizards (18-18) at Capital One Arena. Below, we look at the Hornets vs. Wizards odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

This is the second of a back-to-back for Charlotte who lost to the Phoenix Suns 133-99 as a 1.5-point underdog Sunday.

The Hornets are 3-3 straight-up (SU), 4-2 ATS and 1-5 O/U in the last 14 days with the 23rd-ranked non-garbage time net rating at minus-6.4 points per 100 possessions, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Washington lost but covered in a 120-119 heartbreaker to the Chicago Bulls Saturday thanks to a Bulls’ DeMar DeRozan game-winning 3-pointer as time expired.

The Wizards are 2-3 SU, 4-1 ATS and 4-1 O/U over the last two weeks with the 16th-ranked adjusted net rating at plus-0.1 points per 100 possessions (CTG).

Hornets at Wizards odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Wizards 116, Hornets 110

Money line

“LEAN” to the WIZARDS (-130) because the Hornets cannot play any defense and this is a better spot for Washington who has covered five of its last six games, including three straight.

The Wizards rank sixth in field goal percentage and the Hornets have the fifth-worst defensive field goal percentage and the fourth-worst non-garbage time defense rating (CTG).

Washington also performs well at home and against good teams. The Wizards are 10-5 ATS at home and 6-3 ATS at home versus teams with a winning record.

Furthermore, Charlotte is 0-7 SU and 2-5 ATS on the second of a back-to-back with a minus-3.1 ATS margin. While this is technically the “money line” section, these ATS trends are applicable since this game is priced as a coin-flip.

My hesitation with betting the WIZARDS (-130) heavier in this spot is the Hornets are the far healthier team and Charlotte is 5-0 ATS in the last five games against Washington.

Against the spread

PASS since Washington’s money line is only 10 cents on the dollar more expensive than the Wizards -1.5 (-120) so there’d be no use in laying the points in the first place.

Over/Under

PASS with a slight “lean” to the Under 231.5 (-112) since the Under has cashed in five consecutive Hornets-Wizards meetings. However, Charlotte is 5-2 O/U with a plus-19.9 total margin when playing on zero rest days and has gone Under the total in five straight games.

Charlotte Hornets at Washington Wizards odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Charlotte Hornets at Washington Wizards NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Charlotte Hornets (33-38) visit Capital One Arena for a pivotal regular-season finale against the host Washington Wizards (33-38). Tip-off is at 1 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Hornets-Wizards odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Charlotte has lost four straight games and five of its past six while going 2-4 against the spread to put itself in the position of needing to beat Washington to have two chances of clinching a playoff berth in the play-in tournament.

Washington won three of its past five games (3-1-1 ATS) with the only losses coming by a combined 5 points in a back-to-back with the Atlanta Hawks.

The Hornets are going for the season sweep of the Wizards as they won and covered each of the first two head-to-head meetings.

Hornets at Wizards: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Wizards 121, Hornets 114

Money line (ML)

PASS because Washington is the play but the Wizards (-275) are a little out of my price range for an NBA regular-season favorite even if it’s the final game of the season.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Since the beginning of April, these teams have been going in opposite directions and the WIZARDS -6.5 (-110) have been playing like one of the better teams in the league.

Washington is 16-9 while Charlotte is 9-16 with the 25th-ranked net rating since April 1st. While results in sports aren’t based on what should happen, the Wizards are a lot more deserving of the Eastern Conference’s 8-seed than the Hornets.

The main factor for this is Charlotte’s injury issues, but the Wizards struggled through the early part of their season because of COVID-19 complications and their own injuries.

I’m drafting Washington’s momentum and BETTING the WIZARDS -6.5 (-110) for a half unit only because I like the total as much as the side in this matchup.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the OVER 228.5 (-115) for a half unit because I envision the Wizards upping the tempo of this game and the Hornets being able to keep up the scoring on Washington’s poor defense.

The Wizards play at the fastest pace in the NBA and are 20th by defensive rating, but the Hornets are ninth in 3-point attempts per game and 19th in defensive rating.

Hornets at Wizards: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Hornets 116, Wizards 109

Money line (ML)

The Hornets are clearly not the same team without Ball leading at point guard, but they’ve still been competitive in his absence. Their only loss in the last four games came on Sunday against the Suns, a narrow 101-97 overtime defeat.

The Wizards have won two in a row against the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers, but they were just 1-7 in their previous eight. I like the HORNETS (-155) to win on the road tonight.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Wizards will keep this one competitive so long as Beal is able to suit up. If he can’t go, the spread will move up from 3.5 points. If you want to get in on the 3.5-point margin now, only make a small wager because if Beal goes, Washington could very easily cover.

But if he can’t play, I like the HORNETS -3.5 (-110) to cover, so long as the line stays under 6 points.

Over/Under (O/U)

In the Hornets’ last 10 games, the total has only gone Over twice. They’re not as efficient offensively without Ball at the point, averaging 107.3 points per game in their last four without him.

The Wizards will be good for close to their season average of 114.8 PPG, but I still like the UNDER 229.5 (-110) here if the line remains around 230 points.
