 While Hogwarts Legacy has been out on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for several weeks now, the last-generation versions have unfortunately been delayed yet again.

On Monday, Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software announced that Hogwarts Legacy for PS4 and Xbox One will release on May 5, 2023 – a little over one month from the original launch date. Neither company gave a reason for the delay.

“We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for the response to Hogwarts Legacy from fans around the globe,” reads a statement from the Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account. “The team is working hard to deliver the best possible experience on all platforms, and we need more time to do this.”

There wasn’t an update on the Nintendo Switch port, which is seemingly still coming out on July 25, 2025. That’s about six months after the initial PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC launches for those of you keeping score – all of which recently received a meaty update. The latter may take some careful tweaking to get the game running properly.

There are a huge number of resources in Hogwarts Legacy that you need to collect. One of the most important items for early quests is Shrivelfig fruit. Once you have access to the Room of Requirement, you can grow your own and have an unlimited supply.

Hogwarts Legacy has been officially released for just under a week now, and while the game has impressed many, some players have had no small amount of issues. PC players in particular have had problems with the game’s performance and bugs that need to be fixed sooner rather than later.

The game’s first major update is now live, but unfortunately not for PS5 players. According to Avalanche on Twitter, the PS5 version of the update has been delayed “due to unforeseen issues”, but the patch should be coming later this week. Either way, Xbox Series X and PC players can enjoy this Hogwarts Legacy update that fixes mostly minor issues and rare crashes.

Hogwarts Legacy allows you to explore the world of Harry Potter in stunning detail for the first time. But to make that journey truly beautiful you not only need the best graphical settings, but also smooth performance.

A fair number of places in Hogwarts Legacy are demanding on your GPU, particularly when there are a lot of beasts on screen at once. This means it can be hard to keep a stable FPS if you are on the highest graphical settings.

In Hogwarts Legacy, Merlin Trials are introduced early on, and you will need to complete a number of them in order to boost your inventory space. You get told about them early in the main quest line shortly after your first trip to Hogsmeade. The Merlin Trials consist of a number of short puzzles, but some require specific spells, making them unbending to beat.

The fast travel system in Hogwarts Legacy is the same one from the books. While it can be fun spending all day exploring the open world on your broomstick, it’s much faster – and easier – to use Floo Powder to fast travel. There are Floo Flames set up all over the map, and just like Harry Potter himself, you can use them to travel from place to place with ease.

One of the most important shops in Hogwarts Legacy is Dogweed and Deathcap, which allows you to buy different plants, and seeds you can grow in the Room of Requirement. However, players have had trouble finding it, as it is in a very awkward location.

There are a number of hidden chambers throughout Hogwarts castle in Hogwarts Legacy, and none are quite as confusing as Herodiana’s puzzle chamber. You’ll stumble across this as part of the Halls of Herodiana quest, and the only clue you’re given is to focus on your Depulso spell. This can be a little misleading adding more confusion.

The Room of Requirement is one of the most important parts of Hogwarts Legacy as it can help you manage a number of resources. It’s a place where you can grow plants, brew potions, and keep beasts. This is very helpful, as you can not only save money by making resources instead of buying them, but you can also sell many of the things you make here.

A number of the things you need to do in Hogwarts Legacy are only available during the day or the night. For example, the vast majority of the lessons take place during the day, while you can take Astronomy only at night. Aside from this, collectible items such as the Demiguise moons can only be grabbed at night. As such, being able to control whether it’s day or night can be really valuable.

Luckily, there is a way to switch between day and night, and you can do it wherever you are. This means that if you find a tricky Demiguise moon in the daytime, you can easily change it to nighttime and collect it.
