Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward did a Zoom meeting with the media on Thursday and didn’t offer an optimistic prediction about the Steelers upcoming Hall of Fame Game with the Dallas Cowboys.

Keeping mind there has been no official decision made about the August 6 game but Heyward’s gut tells him the game isn’t going to happen.

This is on the heels of the governor of Ohio saying he was pessimistic about the game having fans in attendance. If the Steelers and Cowboys cannot play in the HOF Game, it would still leave both teams with four preseason games. This is assuming that’s how the league decides to let the preseason play out.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are scheduled to square off against the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game this year but as with all of the NFL, there is much uncertainty as to what this will look like. The governor of Ohio Mike DeWine didn’t sound at all optimistic about the game between the Steelers and Cowboys including fans.

DeWine emphasized public health over the fan’s experience.

As much as I hate to say this, because we’ve all been looking forward to that and I know how much it means to the Canton area and the Stark County area and really across the country, it’s a great great event that we’ve been looking forward to, [but ] having a crowd that size is highly unlikely,” DeWine said. “Certainly, it could not occur today. It would be very dangerous to do it today.

DeWine didn’t rule it out completely but as with any large crowds, caution is the top priority.

Again, we have to see where we are at that point, but that’s a large crowd, a lot of people together. These are the things that we’ve talked about all the way through this as we open Ohio up and we get back to work and we get back to doing the things that we like, probably the last things that are going to be able to be open are the big crowds, particularly when you have big crowds that are close together. So we have to continue to look at it and make decisions as we move forward, but if the question was, ‘could that even occur today?’ the answer would be, ‘no.’
