Jalen Hurts has the same mentality despite being highest paid player in the NFL

Jalen Hurts is still the same guy despite becoming highest paid player in the NFL

Money can change a man, but that’s never been the case with [autotag]Jalen Hurts[/autotag]. Last week, Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles agreed on a new five-year deal that makes him the highest-paid quarterback and player in the NFL, but it will always still be the same old Jalen. The deal also includes a no-trade clause for the QB, the first in the Eagles’ franchise history.

At a press conference today, Hurts showed he is still that same eager freshman from Alabama chasing championships despite the recent payday. The media asked Hurts how satisfying it is to become the highest-paid player in the league and he calmly replies saying, “Money is nice, Championships are better.”

When you are building your franchise around a guy who is championship obsessed, not obsessed with himself, that’s when you know you are in good hands. Championships and the team is all that Hurts has ever cared for. It’s great to see the change doesn’t get to his head.

Jalen went on to add that despite that new brinks truck in his backyard, “Nothing changing, but the weather.”

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Jalen Hurts and his NFL career.

Seahawks, coach Pete Carroll agree to multi-year contract extension

The Seattle Seahawks and head coach Pete Carroll have agreed to a multi-year contract extension.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll will remain in the Emerald City for years to come. Carroll and the Seahawks have reached an agreement on a multi-year contract extension, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who tweeted the news Sunday morning.

“The Seahawks made the move quietly, long before their game Sunday in Buffalo against the Bills, according to league sources,” Schefter writes. “Although no one in the Seahawks organization has confirmed the extension, one source told ESPN that the belief is the deal will tie Carroll to Seattle through the 2025 season, when he will be 74 years old.”

The deal is believed to make Carroll – who is the leagues’ oldest head coach – one of the highest-paid coaches in the NFL as well.

Jadeveon Clowney looking for ‘market-setting contract’ in free agency

Seattle Seahawks free-agent defensive end Jadeveon Clowney will reportedly seek a “market-setting contract” in free agency this offseason.

Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is set to receive an abundance of money in this year’s free agency, and Seattle will be hard-pressed to retain him for the 2020 season.

According to a report from Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller, Clowney seeks a contract that will set the market for his position.

Simply put, he wants to be one of the highest-paid defensive players in the NFL, if not the highest-paid, above Aaron Donald and Khalil Mack. Clowney is now 27 years old and entering his prime, so he will likely receive the highest payday of his career, despite registering only three sacks with Seattle in 2019. The statistics do not tell the full story, as Clowney has won a sizable number of one-on-one matchups throughout the season.

With both Clowney and defensive tackle Jarran Reed hitting free agency, Seattle does not possess many skilled pass rushers on the roster. The Seahawks must bolster their defensive line in some way, but the team may pursue alternative options to Clowney if he demands too much money despite being projected to have upwards of $60 million in cap space.

Given that quarterback Russell Wilson is already the highest-paid player in the NFL and there are prospects that will not cost as much money, it is safe to say the Seahawks will consider their options regarding Jadeveon Clowney in free agency.
