Hero World Challenge: Round 2 tee times, TV information

Everything you need to know for the second round of the Hero World Challenge.

The Hero World Challenge continues on Thursday at Albany Golf Club in Nassau, Bahamas, with a field packed full of professional golf’s top competitors.

Competing for the first time since earning his 82nd PGA Tour win in October, tournament host Tiger Woods shot an up-and-down even par on Wednesday and enters the second round six shots behind leaders Gary Woodland and Patrick Reed, who has some new irons in the bag. Chez Reavie sits in third at 4 under.

The event will not just go toward satisfying a PGA Tour craving as the seasons takes a break in December, but it will also go toward helping those affected by Hurricane Dorian which devastated the Bahamas in August. For every birdie made during the Hero, $500 will be donated to the ONE Bahamas Fund. Eagles will raise $1,000 and an ace will bring a donation of $2,500.

Below are the tee times for the second round, along with the current leaderboard and TV information.

Tiger Woods shoots up-and-down even 72 Wednesday at Hero World Challenge

Tiger Woods caught fire early on the back nine before falling off late in the opening round of the Hero World Challenge.

Tiger Woods’ return to the golf course following his record-tying 82nd PGA Tour victory in October didn’t quite go as planned early on Wednesday in the opening round of the Hero World Challenge.

Battling high winds and struggling to get any approach shots close despite having success off the tee with his driver, Woods made the turn at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas at 2 over, near the back of the pack among the 18-man field.

Then, early on the back nine, he caught fire.

Woods made par on the 10th hole, then shot up the leaderboard on Nos. 11-15, making birdie on three of the four holes, culminating with a chip-in eagle.

Woods finished his last three holes par-bogey-double bogey to walk off the course with a disappointing even par 72. After the first round, Woods sits six shots back of leaders Gary Woodland and Patrick Reed.

Tiger Woods and company are back in the Bahamas for the sixth playing of his Hero World Challenge, which benefits his TGR Foundation and the ONE Bahamas Fund.

Eighteen of the world’s best are at Albany for the fifth consecutive year (2014’s event was held at Isleworth Country Club), with Woods making his first appearance since winning his record-tying 82nd PGA Tour event in October at the inaugural Zozo Championship in Japan. Eleven of the 18 players will also represent the Team USA next week at the Presidents Cup in Australia.

Woods, a five-time winner of the vent, tees off alongside Justin Thomas at 11:35 a.m. ET. Follow along below for shot-by-shot analysis of Woods’ opening round.

Pre-round

While Tiger’s annual event does satisfy our need for golf during the winter months, it also raises a lot of money for those in need. This year, the event is going the extra mile.

We’re just a week and change away from the 21st Hero World Challenge, but this year’s event at Albany, Bahamas will be unlike any other.

The tournament itself, which benefits Tiger Woods’ TGR Foundation, will be played Wednesday-Saturday on Dec. 4-7, but the week-long event will begin two days prior with the Hero Shot at Baha Mar on Monday, Dec. 2 at 4 p.m.

Woods, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Jordan Spieth, Henrik Stenson and Gary Woodland will all compete, hitting balls at a bullseye 100 yards over the Reflections pool at Baha Mar. The first of three rounds will feature three head-to-head matches with players hitting six balls toward the target, which consists of three rings each of different values: 100 points for the outer ring, 200 points for the inner ring and 500 points for the bullseye. The sixth ball in each round will be worth double points. The player with the highest score moves on.

In the second round, the three players who advanced will hit an additional six shots, with the lowest score being eliminated and the top scores advancing to the final round. You can watch the Hero Shot on social media via GolfTV, PGA Tour and TGR Live.

The Hero will be Tiger’s first tournament since winning his 82nd PGA Tour title by three strokes over Hideki Matsuyama at the storm-delayed Zozo Championship in Japan on Oct. 27. After the historic win, Woods announced he’d be a playing captain at the Presidents Cup, which will be held after the Hero in Melbourne, Australia, beginning Dec. 12.

Tiger Woods completes Hero World Challenge field with Jordan Spieth, Henrik Stenson

The 18-player field for next month’s Hero World Challenge consists of eight players in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Ranking.

“See you boys in the Bahamas.”

That’s what Tiger Woods had to say Wednesday morning on Twitter to Jordan Spieth and Henrik Stenson, his final two additions to the 18-player field for the Hero World Challenge in Albany, Bahamas, Dec. 4-7.

Spieth will finish his year at the Hero after not being selected by Woods with one of his four captain’s picks for the 2019 Presidents Cup, held the following week at Australia’s Royal Melbourne. The Hero will be a Wednesday-Saturday event in order to accommodate players’ travel for the Presidents Cup.

The now-complete field for the Hero features eight of the top-10 players in the Official World Golf Ranking. Here’s the full list of who’s confirmed (OWGR in parentheses).

  • Dustin Johnson (3), USA

The tournament will benefit not only Woods’ TGR Foundation, but also the ONE Bahamas Fund, which was founded by Woods, NEXUS Luxury Collection and members of the Albany community following Hurricane Dorian. The group pledged $6 million towards the rebuilding of the Bahamas with a dollar-for-dollar match in hopes of raising $12 million to help those affected by the hurricane. Justin Timberlake helped begin the efforts in September.

The event will be broadcast on Golf Channel during all four rounds and will air on NBC during Saturday’s final round.
