67 days till Patriots season opener: Every player to wear No. 67 for New England

Here’s a list of every Patriots player to wear the No. 67 jersey number.

The New England Patriots are officially 67 days away from their regular season opener.

So we’re continuing our countdown series by listing every Patriots player that has ever worn the No. 67 jersey.

Two names that jump out in the Bill Belichick era are Dan Koppen and Ted Karras. Koppen was a reliable center for New England for nine seasons and helped the team win two Super Bowls. He also earned his one and only All-Pro nod in 2007, when helping the Patriots go unbeaten in the regular season.

Meanwhile, Karras also has two Super Bowl wins under his belt with the Patriots, before jumping ship to help anchor the offensive line for Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

With those two names in mind, here’s every Patriots player that has worn the No. 67 throughout franchise history (via Pro Football Reference):

Cardinals claim former Patriots, Titans O-lineman off waivers

They acquire OL Hayden Howerton, signed originally by the Titans as an undrafted rookie last year. He plays guard.

The Arizona Cardinals added an offensive lineman to their offseason roster. They were awarded former New England Patriots offensive lineman Hayden Howerton on a waiver claim, the team announced Monday.

Howerton spent some of last season on New England’s practice squad.

He was signed originally as an undrafted rookie by the Tennessee Titans out of SMU last year. The Cardinals’ general manager, Monti Ossenfort, worked for the Titans last year in the front office, so the move makes sense.

Howerton is 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds, and plays on the interior offensive line.

In college, he started 39 games at left guard, 12 at center and two at right guard.

We can likely expect to see a number of players with connections to the Titans (Ossenfort), Lions (assistant GM Dave Sears) and teams the coaches worked for previously as the offseason progresses.

Patriots waive offensive line hopeful on Friday

The Patriots made a move on Friday.

The New England Patriots announced they are waiving offensive lineman Hayden Howerton on Friday.

Howerton joined the team back in November 2022 after being released by the Tennessee Titans. He was signed to the Patriots practice squad and ultimately landed a futures deal with the team in January.

It’s a tough break for the former Southern Methodist standout. The Patriots love versatility, and coming out of college, few were more versatile than Howerton, who started at left guard, center and right guard.

He arrived in the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent. So the work ethic it took to land opportunities with the Titans and Patriots could propel him to a third chance elsewhere.

What scouting reports said about Titans UDFA OL Hayden Howerton

A closer look at Titans UDFA OG Hayden Howerton via pre-draft scouting reports.

One of the Tennessee Titans’ 17 undrafted free agent signings following the 2022 NFL draft was Southern Methodist University interior offensive lineman, Hayden Howerton.

Howerton was one of the two undrafted free agents from SMU the Titans signed, along with wide receiver Reggie Roberson, whose scouting reports we’ve already covered.

The 6-foot-4, 309-pound guard became a starter in his first season with the Mustangs, and would go on to remain in a starting role in the years that followed, playing at center as well.

In order to get more information on Howerton, we’re taking a look at some of the scouting reports that were out there prior to the draft.
