Hawks at 76ers picks and predictions

Prediction

76ers 110, Hawks 106

Moneyline

Even if C Joel Embiid continues to be sidelined for Philadelphia, 76ERS (-105) is an enticing wager with the Hawks struggling to win games recently. Philadelphia has gotten fantastic contributions from G Shake Milton, G De’Anthony Melton, and F Tobias Harris amid Embiid’s absence.

Against the spread

Being that I have Philadelphia winning at home Monday, 76ERS +1.5 (-110) is where I’m going in this game. Philadelphia has won 3 of its last 4 games and all of those games were wins by at least 8 points.

The Hawks are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall. Meanwhile, the 76ers are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 6-0 ATS in their last 6 home games.

Over/Under

UNDER 221.5 (-115) appears to be the ideal choice in this game with Philadelphia potentially missing a few starters. The 76ers hit the Under in 2 straight games before hitting the Over Sunday.

The Under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between the Hawks and the 76ers when the game is in Philadelphia. Also, the Under is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings overall.

Atlanta Hawks at Philadelphia 76ers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Atlanta Hawks at Philadelphia 76ers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Atlanta Hawks (14-16) travel to Wells Fargo Center Thursday to take on the Philadelphia 76ers (16-15). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Hawks vs. 76ers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Hawks are coming into this game off an embarrassing home defeat at the hand of the Magic. Atlanta can’t do much in this situation, multiple starters including superstar G Trae Young. C Clint Capela is also out.

Already having disappointed, this season will get far more challenging for Atlanta, a team just 12-18 ATS. The 76ers, on the other hand, are slightly better at 14-17 ATS.

However, they’re far healthier, despite also missing key pieces. C Joel Embiid and F Tobias Harris were not on the injury report. The Sixers are just 1-3 over their last 4 but are coming off a win over the Celtics.

Hawks at 76ers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

76ers 108, Hawks 97

Money line

PASS.

The Sixers at -650, although the significantly better and healthier side, is far too pricey. After a discouraging loss to Orlando, Atlanta +440 also has little value.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the 76ERS -10.5 (-108) as the Hawks are just too depleted to back. Collins isn’t a big-time scorer, typically helped by the polarizing Young.

Against the Magic, the Hawks relied on Bogdan Bogdanović and Cam Reddish. The trio combined for 68 of their 98 points. The Hawks scored 98 on the Magic.

Against a much better defensive side, the struggles should continue. My one concern here is that the Sixers don’t necessarily beat teams badly, having just five wins this season that would cover an 11-point spread.

However, without these pieces, the Hawks would likely be one of the worst teams in the East. I’d still back the Sixers here but for a small unit.

Over/Under

BET on the UNDER 208.5 (-110) as the injuries to key players will be too much to overcome. As noted, the Hawks scored 98 against Orlando.

The key is Young, as they put up 115 in the game prior with his topping 30. The Sixers play the second slowest pace in the NBA. When Embiid plays, it’s feeding him in the post that matters the most to this offense.

It drains the clock and typically uses the full shot clock. They aren’t a quick team, and without elite shot-making on the other side, I’d back fewer points.

Atlanta Hawks at Philadelphia 76ers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Atlanta Hawks at Philadelphia 76ers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Philadelphia 76ers (3-2) hosts the Atlanta Hawks (3-2) Friday for a 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off at Wells Fargo Center. Below, we look at the Hawks vs. 76ers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions, and bets.

This is a rematch of last season’s Eastern Conference Semifinals series where the Hawks upset the 76ers in seven games. It was this series that initiated the current beef with Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia organization that has led to Simmons’ current sabbatical.

Atlanta was drubbed by a short-handed Washington Wizards team 122-111 as 4-point road favorites Thursday. The Hawks were outrebounded 51-43, had four more turnovers, and shot just 28.6 percent from 3-point land vs. the Wizards.

Philly has alternated between winning and covering over the past four games (1-3 against the spread) with the latest being a 110-102 victory over the Detroit Pistons Thursday, but the Sixers failed to cover as 11-point favorites.

The 76ers beat and covered vs. the Hawks in two of three regular-season meetings last year, but Atlanta won the playoff series against Philly 4-3 overall and covered the spread in all four victories.

Hawks at 76ers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawks 111, 76ers 103

Money line

“LEAN” to the HAWKS (+140) for a small wager because I “like” Atlanta plus the points and there’s value in the underdog’s money line here.

Also, the Hawks do a good job defending Philly’s style whereas the Sixers do not defend what Atlanta does a lot of.

For instance, according to CleaningTheGlass.com, Philly shoots the fifth-highest volume of mid-range field goals but Atlanta has the third-best defensive field goal percentage vs. mid-range attempts.

Furthermore, the Hawks get out in transition at the seventh-highest frequency in the league and the Sixers allow the seventh-worst points per possession in transition.

Lastly, the absence of Simmons’ defensive prowess could play a major role in this contest. Atlanta’s Trae Young could have a big game vs. Philly’s weak defensive backcourt. In fact, these teams, positionally, stack up well against each other and the only glaring mismatch is at point guard.

Against the spread

Definitely BET HAWKS +3.5 (-108) instead of or heavier than Atlanta’s money line because it has way more value.

Obviously, this is bigger than your average regular-season game for both teams and it’s just wise to take the 3.5 since this game could come down to the wire.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 216.5 (-107) for a half unit because based on how these teams played last year, how they matchup this season and the current O/U trends in the NBA.

There’s a new NBA policy that is trying to officiate unnatural offensive movements out of the game. As a result, free-throw shooting is down and Unders are cashing at a 63.2 percent rate in the NBA thus far.

This affects both sides since each team’s leading scorer from last year—Trae and Embiid—both were in the top-5 of free-throw attempts per game.

On top of that, the Hawks-76ers total has already been lowered 2 points from the opening number of 218.5. Until sportsbooks adjust to the new officiating—which it will—the UNDER 216.5 (-110) is the only play for the total.

Atlanta Hawks at Philadelphia 76ers Game 5 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Atlanta Hawks at Philadelphia 76ers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The 5-seed Atlanta Hawks and 1-seed Philadelphia 76ers play Game 5 of their Eastern Conference second-round series Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Hawks vs. 76ers odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Hawks bounced back with a 103-100 victory in Game 4, winning outright as three-point underdogs. It’s now essentially a best-of-three series heading into Game 5.

The 76ers had won the previous two games by 16 points each, so Game 4 was a little bit of a shock. Philly had the opportunity to put Atlanta away, and now this series looks like it could go the distance.

Hawks at 76ers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

76ers 113, Hawks 109

Money line (ML)

The 76ers (-250) will cost you two-and-a-half times your potential return, and that’s just not worth the risk especially as the Hawks (+200) won outright last time out.

AVOID.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The HAWKS +6.5 (-110) is quite attractive. It didn’t look that way 48 hours ago as the 76ers -6.5 (-110) entered Game 4 with a 2-1 series lead looking to win and push Atlanta to the brink. Instead, Atlanta leveled the series, and suddenly the Hawks are alive and well.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 223.5 (-110) is the lean here. Game 4 was an Under, and the Under is 4-1 in five road playoff games for the Hawks. The Over/Under has alternated in each of the past four games for the 76ers. At home, the lean has been to the Over for Philly. So don’t go too heavily on the Under here.

Atlanta Hawks at Philadelphia 76ers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Atlanta Hawks at Philadelphia 76ers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Philadelphia 76ers (41-21) host the Atlanta Hawks (34-29) for the second of a back-to-back Friday at Wells Fargo Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Hawks-76ers odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Hawks’ 44-point beatdown administered by the Sixers was their second consecutive loss and they have split the four games—both straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS)—Trae Young has been sidelined with injury.

Philly trounced Atlanta 127-83 in the first of the back-to-back Wednesday for its second straight win following a four-game losing skid from April 19-24. Over the past two weeks, the Sixers are 3-4 SU and 2-4-1 ATS.

This is the rubber match between these two teams has the home team won and handily covered each of the first two meetings.

Hawks at 76ers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

76ers 119, Hawks 104

Money line (ML)

PASS even though I don’t give the Hawks (+333) much of a chance in this game without Young because the 76ers (-450) is just too expensive for a SU win.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

It was fairly easy for the Sixers defense to shut down Atlanta’s offense without Young in the lineup Wednesday.

In the first Hawks-76ers meeting this season, Atlanta had Young available and Philly was missing Ben Simmons, the Hawks controlled the tempo.

When the opposite was true for the second Hawks-76ers meeting, it was Philly who controlled the tempo.

For instance, in Atlanta’s victory over Philly Jan. 11, the Hawks outscored the Sixers 21-2 in fast-break points, but in Philly’s win Wednesday it outscored Atlanta 30-9.

Furthermore, the Hawks’ starting backcourt—guards Lou Williams and Brandon Goodwin—scored a combined 15 points on 4-of-18 shooting (1-for-6 from behind the arc).

Also, Joel Embiid completely neutralized Hawks big Clint Capela, holding him to just 9 points on 30.8% shooting with just 8 rebounds.

The last box I’d need Philly to check before backing it in this spot is for the motivational angle, and the Sixers have that as they are chasing the Brooklyn Nets for the 1-seed in the Eastern Conference.

BET 76ERS -9 (-115) for a three-fourths unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS with a slight “lean” to the Over 221.5 (-110) because my predicted score is only 1.5 points off of BetMGM‘s projected total and I don’t have much faith in Atlanta’s offense against Philly’s top-tier defense.
